Very Slow
I bought this modem with the anticipation of a little faster hook up than my original v-90. However, I was very disappointed in the speed and most of the websites I would go to never fully loaded. After running some diagnostics and upgrading whatever software I could, there was still no improvement. I sent it back and bought a cheaper US Robotics which works great

Mixed Results
I bought the PCI version, (DI5631) and at first couldn't get it to even load a single page. Then I noticed it was trying to load CREATIVE's own site. The software had changed my home page! I do NOT like that.In addition, the 'extra' software included on the CD requested a serial number... One I never saw anywhere, nor was there anything telling me where to find it.Once I changed my home page back to my ISP's proper home page, the modem seemed to work well enough... but seems no faster than the one I had before. I will have to do more checking to see if different times of day have any effect on this. One last item... The "TAD" cable. There wasn't one.Overall... I am not at all sure this modem was worth my trouble, given that I had a working V.90 modem already. For someone who is still in the dark ages, (33kbs type or older) this modem MAY be a worthwhile upgrade. For most everyone else, I think it's probably NOT worth the money. (By the wat, Creative DOES offer a full, DSP version for PCI, and that one may be a better choice) The one I bought is HSP, not DSP. (HSP means your computer does a lot of the work, DSP means the modem does most of it)Junkman

Installed First Time with Win2K
This Creative ModemBlaster V.92 Modem installed first time and automatically with Win2K. When I booted the system, it came up as already installed! No need to go through the driver installation procedure. It consistently gets 48kbps for downloads and I see bursts of 100 - 150kbps for web site pages.I noticed that Win2K was using one of its generic drivers to run the modem and thought, "Let's upgrade to the latest driver from Creative Labs." Well, that turned out to be a mistake. After installing the driver, the system restarted and then locked up in the Windows 2000 startup screen. I had to restart again, press F8, and then pick last known good configuration to restart the computer. Win2K restarted with the old generic driver and everything is working fine again.I bought this modem after returning the Best Products equivalent product because Win2K didn't recognize it after several attempts to get it installed, to no avail.

Great Modem and great value.
I have been using this for the past 3 months. I have yet to have any problems. Did not test the .v92 as I do not have call waiting. Highly recomended.

Works as good as any DialUp!
This is a dial up modem people. They are all slow. Faster means you can do one load of laundry while site loads, verses two loads of laundry. Get DSL or cable if you want fast. This modem does exactly what it says and depending on your area and ISP it can go a Tiny bit faster than some modems.I give it 5 stars because I never had any issues with this modem, just my ISP. I have moved on to cable, because I surf a lot. If you're a surfer, spend the $50 a month and get cable. Otherwise stop whining and go do a load of laundry:)

Great Modem. No Problems on Win98SE
I bought this modem after my V.90 failed. It installed perfectlyon my Win 98SE system and every function advertised worked, in-cluding V.92 Modem-On-Hold features of Answer an incoming calland Place an outgoing call, while maintaing my modem connection. My modem was the PCI Di5633 Internal, without a Speakerphone and with out the Flash. I see Amazon appears to lump all Creative ModemBlaster product reviews together, from the comments I see in others reviews. So, problems some have noted may be Windows Version or Modem Version related.Note you MUST have Creative's NetWaiting program running to usethe V.92 Modem-on-Hold features. I noticed I had to specificallymove NetWaiting to my Windows Startup folder to get it to loadon starup (bootup), even though NetWaiting Settings had "Launch At Windows Startup" enabled. It would not load on startup until Idragged NetWaiting to my Windows\ProgramFiles\Startup Folder. In addition, you must have Call Waiting on your telephone serviceto Answer and incoming call and Three Way Calling on your tel service to Place an outgoing call. Otherwise, your modem connection to your ISP(internet) will be lost. Hope this helps.

No problems with this modem
I never had any of the other problems mentioned in other reviews. The modem installed quickly and correctly in Windows 2000 and connected between 47 and 50.6 kbs consistently. The modem noise is almost unbearable though, so be sure to turn the volume all of the way down in modem settings.
