Junior Varsity Ball - Electric Blue

This is a ball for a herding dog. It is very hard material and they have to push it around with their nose and their paws. It is not a ball to carry around in their mouths nor one to chew on. I think a lot of the poor reviews for this product were due to folks not knowing what the ball is designed for. Our Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix LOVES this ball. He is about 40 lbs. Originally I had one of the much larger balls which he also loved but it was so heavy he would rub his nose and paws raw moving it about. With this size he is able to herd it about the property with joy and abandon and his nose and paws are no worse for the effort. These are great toys for dogs with high herding instinct. I plan on getting a couple more to see what he will do when there is more than one to play with. I put this ball away and only allow my dog to play under supervision. He will herd it in the flaming hot son, he will get upset if it goes into the bushes or flowers and he will do whatever he thinks necessary to get it back out, so for his safety and the safety of my plants he only gets it for short bursts of time and always under supervision.

The odd thing is the large ball was bought for 95 lb. Lab. She wants nothing to do with it. The miniature schnauzer loves the small one & now when in yard plays with the large one. Nice quality but all dogs are not going to use this ball.

My dogs love the cheap bouncy balls you can get from the bin in many stores however, the Shepherd pops them after the Jack Russell runs around with them for a bit.None of my three dogs have touched this ball. They seem annoyed by them and they just lie in the same spot in the yard every day.Hard and quality and funny when my yard man kicked one thinking it was soft. Hurt his toes!

The ball is a really hard plastic, which I thought would be great for my power chewer. He's a rescue...long story short, he'll run after it when I throw it, but he mostly seems to be afraid of it. He doesn't play with it. I really don't think he knows what it is.

So I recently bought two of the full size varsity balls. I was a little skeptical about them. After all I had bought a varsity mini a few weeks prior and it only last three days (my pit destroys a lot of so called indestructible toys). But I saw the videos again off the lions and tigers play with the full size one so I figured why not. When they arrived I could immediately feel the better quality, the weight. I literally could feel that this ball could go the rounds. They were for Christmas but I couldn't wait! I have my dogs (4) one to see how it would do, it's gotten a few scratches but no hole and penetration, it's too bigger for their mouth to get around it and they play with it all day. I am loving this ball, way better than the mini and looking forward to my dogs using it for years to came.

Have two Jack Russell Terriers and they are full of energy and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to play ball! They can destroy anything given time so balls don't last too long around here. Saw the ad for this ball and thought I'd try since everyone had given it good reviews. It's great ,they have had a blast running it around a fenced in yard.It's hard plastic so they can't puncture it. I got the small size which seems perfect for them. I highly recommend this ball, just be careful not to get hit in the face with it since it is pretty hard. Also might want to keep it for outside use. Think the price was fair and it arrived promptly.

I knew this was going to be small i didnt think it would be as small as it really was. I have to big boys so i figured they would knock this around like a soccer ball but they show no interest in it. I leave it out for them to play with but when i return this ball is untouched left in the same spot i left it before i left. My kids find this ball more fun then the dogs do. So it will get used just not for the purposes i purchased it for.

Our dogs had zero interest in this ball. It sits on the floor and gets no use. So it was a total waste of money for us. A friend's larger dog plays for hours with the varsity ball so in the end it totally depends on your dog as to whether this is a great thing or a wast of money. So in the end just disappointed as we'd hoped they'd have a lot more interest in it. But between 4 dogs, not one is interested in playing with it at all.
