Super Simple to Use
I love how easy it is to copy with this scanner - it's great to have push button features that work! While it doesn't have an automatic feeder, I do really like the speed of scanning, and the PaperPort software is my personal choice for ease of use and organizing easily. I have used the Textbrindge software, and it will save me time on working with documents. For a basic flatbed without a high cost, I love this unit!

Big rip off!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Item shipped with no power cord. After looking at the software I found that this scanner is so old that it will not work with computers that use anything newer than windows XP. That was not stated in Amazon. Could not even access the help section of the software because it is so old. This purchase has caused a great deal of stress. Arrived beat to hell because item was not packaged and was sent through the mail in store packing to be thrown around by USPS regular mail. I even paid about $15.00 extra shipping to have sent prioity because it was important to me. I will miss my deadline now and will end up carying 20 pounds of paper with me to travel all over south america for six weeks. You would think that the packaging would be better for that amount. Could not believe a scanner would be shipped this way for extra money. I demand a refund of the item and the extra $15.00 ship fee and an apology.

Will work with XP driver and driver available in WIN 10 or 11
Though this scanner is officially obsolete it will work with windows 10 and 11. Install the xp driver (One touch 3, 5800 etc) and let the computer find and install it. With the scanner powered up and connected, go to device manager, right click on it, update driver, browse for driver, let me pick from a list, imaging devices, Microsoft, select USB Scanner driver. Answer yes to the warning. The driver will install and the scanner becomes operational. You need a twain-compliant scan manager. If you don't have one, there is a good open source manager. Browse for NAPS2. Works very well.

Not a great scanner just ok
I've had this scanner for just a little over 2 years. After the first year I developed a problem with the power supply cable connection in the back of this unit. The scanner's power supply cable unit in the back became loose and it would not recognize that the power supply cable was actually connected to it. I ended up having to hold the power cable into the power socket for it to recognize its own power supply cable. I then had problems with the usb cable. The usb cable is directly attached to the back of the unit which cannot be replaced. For some reason or another it failed to work correctly by not recognizing that it was plugged into my computers usb socket. I would have to play with the usb cable itself in order for my computer to recognize that it was connected to my computer. It finally stopped recognizing that I had it plug into my usb outlet on my computer. I think that the wiring inside of this scanners usb cable may have become frayed, due to poor quality. After having so much trouble with the cables and then the last issue with the usb connection, I gave up on it and have sent it to a better place- the trash can.

WHERE IS THE LOCK ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SCANNER?
I was so thrilled about my Visioneer 5800 USB Scanner, I scanned all my medical records and pictures and anything else I wanted to save and send to someone else. Then I was away for about a week and came back to scan more documents and clicked on the icon for my scanner. It told me to unlock the scanner, the lock is located on the bottom of the scanner. I have looked and felt under the scanner several times and I don't see it. Where should I be looking for this lock? It must be invisable because I don't see it. I would love to scan more but it won't let me in until I can find the lock and unlock it. Please help me with this. It made very nice copies of all my records and pictures. But now it is not doing anything because I can't even get into it because it has to be unlocked.

good scanner
I have this scanner for several years and I never had any problem with, I just saw a review that it does not work with xp its not true. I wouldn't buy this scanner based on this bad review, I hate seeing people who just like to complain, its a good scanner its not fair for visionner to have this kind of impression.
