Nova Development US Scrapbook Factory Deluxe 4.0 [Old Version]

I've had this software since February and have used it for so many projects. I designed my son's birth announcement, professional looking Christmas photo cards, and many scrapbook pages for my kids. Some of the graphics are admittedly cartoony, but there are so many other positives to mention. There are plenty of backgrounds to choose from, but you can also design your own once you become more familiar with the software. The templates are a good route to go when you start b/c they offer creative ways to showcase your pictures. I find that I don't usually like all the background/embellishment selections in the templates but all you have to do is double-click on what you don't like and either delete or replace. I also learned a lot about the capabilities of the software by seeing the types of designs the templates offered. If you feel limited by the papers or embellishments offered, there are plenty of on-line sites that offer free page kits, backgrounds etc. My favorite site is [...]Also, another reviewer mentioned not being able to print on other sites like Shutterfly. This is not true and can easily be done by exporting project as a JPG image (make sure to select 300 dpi and raise quality bar to highest level)All in all, the creative uses of this software are endless and you'll be thrilled with the professional looking projects you come up with.One thing to note is that their DVD software did not work in our DVD drive and we had to go through customer support to get replacements. I received them within a week.

Mediocre product and horrible customer service. I thought this product would really meet my needs, but I was wrong. I was working on a page and in the text box I wanted one word to be bold. Well when I tried to bold the one word it made all the words bold. I thought maybe there was a glitch in the software so I wrote customer service and asked them what the problem might be and if they had a fix for it. I was told very rudely that that's the way it is and if I want to make one word bold I'll have to put it in a different text box. I wrote back and ask if they had any plains to fix it in the future or in future additions. They never responded. Tells me what their customers mean to them. I won't be buying products from their company.

This software is very cheap appearing with its images, not a very big selection, and outdated. I never created anything with this.

My main purpose for this product is creating high quality jpgs which this product does nicely. Just remember to go into "jpg options" in the Export function and increase the quality to 100%. I use my jpgs to make photobooks.What it doesn't have is good layer support (it has some, but very limited).It also has a bug with editing their graphics & embellishments that results in diagonal lines across the objects - so if you use their clip art, frames, borders, etc, don't try to edit them (don't change their color, but you can resize them). I've reported the bug & they said there's no fix yet. I noted one of the other reviewers here from April said they also reported the bug "4 months ago", so the bug has been known for quite a while.One thing I'd like to see in this program is more support for custom templates. You can use their templates or you can create your own, but there's no good way to get your own custom-made template from one project into another. The only way to reuse it is to save it as its own project, then "Save As" to your new project name every time you want to reuse it. I'd like the ability to select my own template when I add a new page, but that feature is not available.I'm going to give PhotoShop Elements a try and see if I like it better, but if not, this works.

I love this product. however it does NOT work with windows 7. On Amazon it claims that it works with Windows 7, but if you go to Nova's website, and as I have learned since buying this product, it actually does not work with windows 7. I ended up ordering the newer version so it could be compatible with my laptop. i did get to try the program out on someone else's computer and it really is great. so easy to use and the the library of graphics is very extensive.\

This is a great product and fun to use. I am a avid scrapbooker. I am amazed what all you can do on it. its nice not to run out of stuff and go to a craft store to buy scrapbooking materials.

I purchases ths software and could never get it to print. I have been back and forth with Nova Development Company, at least 5 time. First they told meI needed to update my printer drive, did that. Second they told me to delete my printer and reinstall onto my computer. Third they told me that version 4 is not compatiable with windows 7. Fourth they told me to reconfigure my printer, did that. The last fifth and final time they told me again that it not windows 7 compatiable. That I could send it back and get version 5. The reviews and not good on version 5. I think I need to find another software package for scrapbooking. Did anyone else have this much trouble?

If you are into scrap booking or just starting. You have to get this product. I cannot say enough good things about it. You can do anything I mean anything. It is fast and so so easy anyone can do it.

Fantastic for tarting-up your photos before you put them online or just for a digital scrapbook. You can edit, resize and generally muck about with photos before adding numerous crazy and not so crazy frames! This is also a great little piece of software for you budding craft-types! You can design calendars, mugs, t-shirts and all manner of things with thousands of graphics on the disk (plus your own photos of course!). Recommended.

As a card maker who occasionally delves into scrapbooking I was hoping for a few ideas more than anything else from this CD. It takes about 10-15 minutes to install and from there you've got a vast array of templates and thousands of ways to customise them.What I don't like from this CD is printing things off. While we do have a decent printer, nothing really compares to background papers and embellishments you can buy in shops. You're also restricted to A4 printouts whereas scrapbooking is generally in squares from 6-12 inches (although can be A4 too).I'm really not keen on the artwork in a lot of the albums. Most of them just don't tend to go together with the embellishments and text and are very amateurish in design - some of the text reminding me of the days when I used to use Word Art in Microsoft Word. In the T-shirts and more section a lot of the designs are more like cards than something you would use as a t-shirt transfer. I do like that it's not restricted to scrapbooking as it has everything from calendars to making paper aeroplanes, masks, boxes and more.Each template is very easy to customise. Just double clicking will bring up menus with numerous alternative backgrounds and pictures, there are plenty of fonts, colours and shapes to choose from so it's easy to knock up a few rough ideas and save them for later whether printing things out to use or buying papers etc where you may forget what designs you've come up with. Although the CD is very easy to navigate and there are thousands of ideas there are a lot of elements that I wouldn't even consider using. Scrapbooking has come a long way in the last couple of years though so I'd avoid this CD and go for one of the newer ones on the market or even just search the internet for ideas if you're not planning on printing your own.

I bought Scrapbook Factory as a replacement for Canon Photorecord 2 for creating printed photo albums. Canon haven't Photorecord2 for some time and its support for text was poor. After seeing reviews of Scrapbook Factory indicating it as one of the best scrapbook software packages I have been disapponted how badly it compares with Photorecord 2 in handling photos. Selecting photos is slow (no bulk loading that I can find), it supports a max of 10 pages per project (you then have to use multiple projects for an album) and adding frames to all of the photos is slow and the range of frames is, unless you want rather garish ones, poor. I had tried using word and to be honest for what I need it would be fine if I could paste in and re-size photos more quickly. Overall whilst scrpabook factory may provide loads of very fancy features for me it misses doing the basics very well.17/8/10 I now use My Memories Suite which does the basics I need and a lot more.

For anyone used to graphic programs they will find this Scrapbook prog very easy to use. Apart from the actual scrapbook pages you can design and make cards as well as a host of other projects. There is no need to be on-line ( for anyone out there not on broadband) as all the graphics are in the program so no further expense is required. I have another scrapbook program that is, shall we say, more sophisticated but it is taking some getting used to. I think this one is a good starting point for anyone who is interested in digital scrapbooking but not quite sure if they will take to it. I'm well pleased with it and have used it nigh on every day.

I am a more traditional scrapbooker but found this fun to use. Very easy to put onto computer and simple to use.
