Great Documentary on a Great Tragedy
This movie provides great insight into the sinking of the USS Indianapolis just prior to the end of World War II, the recent discovery of the remains, and about the lasting impacts. It has a mix of survivor interviews, historian perspectives, historical photographs, and live action re-enactments. It did a good job of explaining the severity of the struggle for survival at sea for the survivors without making it sensational. The survivor accounts are incredible and there are some great experts as well as a recount on the legacy of the captain. The discovery ship crew seemed a little full of themselves but it was great that they were able to discover this wreck that was lost for so many years.

The answer never given.
I enjoyed this documentary very much. What is it about human nature that wants to affix blame. In this instance where it never belonged. I love the study of the U.S. Navy. It is a noble organization of men and women who have served their country unselfishly and for which many paid the ultimate sacrifice. The actions of the Navy brass in the treatment of Capt. McVey are deplorable following the Indy's sinking and the loss of so many crew. How about putting the blame on the Japanese submarine who sank the Indianapolis in a time of war. I was aghast in when I learned they actually called the C.O. of the enemy sub to testify against the Capt. of the Indy at his court-marshal.

Hard Honest Look At The Tragedy Of The Indianapolis & The Treachery Of The US Government
Absolutely a GREAT documentary. Loved it. As a US Marine who has gone on several ship deployments I once asked a Navy Capt on board.. How long would it take for someone to come rescue us if our ship were to sink right here in the middle of the pacific between Japan and Hawaii. He looked at me and asked.. "How long did it take us to get here?" I replied "Days sir"... He grinned and said.. "yes, it would take days." That conversation never left me.. Being in the middle of the pacific.. floating adrift... For days..

Both the sinking of and the search to find its remains
I've read two excellent books about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis at the end of WWII and the sinking's aftermath, Doug Stanton's "In Harm's Way" and Richard F. Newcomb's "Abandon Ship!". Both are excellent accounts but were written long before the expedition in 2017 that found the remains of the ship over 3 miles deep. This 90-minute documentary also review's some of the ship's history, particularly its sinking, but focuses on the expedition that finally located the ship's remains. An excellent documentary!

informative and entertaining
settles the puzzle of where this doomed ship lays, yet opens up conspiracy theories on how and why this ship which delivered the a bomb to Tinian was not escorted, no matter the reports of no subs in the area. (A strange report in itself when such knowledge would be impossible to verify even if they had today's technology.)

Excellent documentary
This documentary highlights the significant events and circumstances surrounding the sinking of the USS Indianapolis after it completed a critical mission during WWII. The movie reveals decisions, processes, and actions taken at the time from which lessons can be learned and applied today to prevent avoidable mistakes and save lives.

Great documentary
This documentary just goes to show how a bureaucracy /Service can screw over one of its own members! Hoe many Generals and Admirals gun WW II made more serious errors and killed many thousands of their Service members without any sort of inquiry or punishment?

Excellent documentary.
Of course Captain McVey was a scapegoat. No military, politician, airline, car manufacturer, etc. will EVER admit fault...they will ALWAYS put the blame where it doesn't belong. Rest in peace, Captain McVey, and all of the young men that lost their lives. I hope this documentary brings some peace to the families that lost their loved ones.
