A minimalist exterior belies the progression-packed nature of this 23-liter day-trekker. When you’re sweating it out on a steep uphill, your back will stay cool and dry thanks the Backdraft™ back panel—featuring directional foam conduits that allow hot air to rise and be replaced by cooler air. The Crescent Peak’s innovative Techlite™ straps are comprised of an insanely strong, lightweight compound molded around super-breathing mesh inserts, with a healthy helping of cushioning for comfort. The exterior features water-shedding Omni-Shield, as well as an integrated rain fly for when serious rainstorms descend. Water bottle pockets combine with 3-liter-hydration-unit compatibility to keep you hydrated, the sternum strap helps shoulder heavy loads.

Durable, functional
Quality you expect in Columbia bag: durable, functional, and visually appealing. I bought this one because I intended to replace other Columbia bag I bought six years ago, but that old grimy bag is still fine, no major rips and all zippers still working.

You'll forget it's there.
Amazingly comfortable when fully loaded! Feels almost like it's not on your back!! Easy to forget it is there as it does not weigh you down! My son is using it on the academy grounds for school and it poured cats and dogs yesterday. He was so very pleased that everything inside the backpack stayed very dry even without using it's cover. Fantastic!

Perfect day bag.
For a daypack, this is a great bag. Purchased from a Columbia outlet for under $30, but I'd be willing to spend up to $75 on this bag.On the outside, there are a ton of straps on it, it might take you a little while to get it comfortable, but once you do, you won't notice it is there. The sternum strap has slides to sit comfortably on your chest. The shoulder straps are made of a foam/mesh combo. They can be a little rigid at first, but after a number of wearings mine have become comfortable. They also have two straps at the top, to adjust how the shoulder straps sit on you. The waist strap is the least comfortable, as it is just the nylon strap and a buckle, but it does a good job at taking some of the weight off of your shoulders. There are pullcords to strap things to, like hiking poles if you need to. The back is rigid, yet comfortable. I usually put water bottles in it, and in my older bag they would press against my back causing aches. This bag has a rigid back to stop whatever is in the bag from pressing against you, but then has comfortable padding to keep you going. To the inside, there are three pockets, the main one, one for your phone, keys, etc, and the one on the front, which has two zippers. I use this for the sunblock, bugspray, all the frequently used things. The main compartment has a sleeve for a bladder though it does not come with one.Storage wise, it is plenty for a day long adventure for one where the weather might change, or plenty of room for a few people when no clothing is needed. I've hiked 4+ hours with this bag, carrying food/drink for four people total. The straps took all the weight off of my shoulders. I've also had enough room to bike to work, with a full change of clothes and toiletries, and a water bottle.I haven't had to use the rain-fly yet, but it will cover the entire pack when it is full. The 'backdraft' is useless. You'll sweat just as much. The only benefit, is that once you do start sweating, it's mesh against padding, so it'll dry quickly. All in all, I'd buy this bag again if it broke on me.

No Loop for Water Bladder
This day pack advertises that it has bladder capability by having an H20 hole in the top, but there is no loop inside to hang a bladder on. I was amazed to not find the loop that keeps the bladder from collapsing on itself. If you do not plan to use a bladder, this is ok. Otherwise, it is false advertising.
