Gets you off of the "Auto" mode!
I recently purchased a Canon T3 dslr and wanted to find a manual that would kick start my use of the camera. I was happily surprised to find a DVD about it.The T3i is used in the DVD and it's clearly explained if a function isn't available on the T3. The instructor also discusses the settings he prefers to use and why. I'm glad he offers his professional opinion. I don't mind taking a suggestion that works well for someone else and using it as a starting point. Now I think I have a good grasp of the functions available on my camera and feel more confident about taking it off the "Auto" mode.My Magic Lantern guide came with 2 DVDs, one about my particular camera and one about the basics of good photography and using a dslr. Both DVDs are nicely done and I would recommend them to anyone unfamiliar with dslr cameras.I'm also reading through the "Canon EOS Rebel T3/1100D Digital Field Guide" which goes into more detail about my camera's functions. It's easy to use, too.

This book makes more sense than the factory manual.
I recently bought the T3i and thought i had to take a class just to learn how to use it. can't find a how-to in the Canon instruction manual. This book takes the place of that and is a bit more readable.

WOW
I purchased a new Canon T3i in January, 2012 and immediately made enemies with it as I could understand little of the Owner's Manual. My Son-In-Law who is a firefighter and professional photographer on the side pranced his way through the camera features and became frustrated at me for not picking up on his "teachings" very quickly.I purchased this GREAT BOOK as it included 2 DVDs which I thought would be simpler to understand than the book itself. While 1 DVD is generalities, the other is a MUST FOR ALL T3i owners. It contains a very simple to understand walk through of all the camera features, presented by a guy that you can watch over and over (as I need).I would recommend this book and DVDs to all camera buffs, novice and professional alike.Spend your $$$ wisely and make this book your 1st buy. It will probably be the last $$$ you will spend to get the knowledge you need to fully operate this camera.John GriffithsSpringfield, OR

My granddaughter needed a new update on her camera. I thought this was helpful and so did she.

Excellent, with minor qualifications.
I think that I have now purchased and carefully studied all of the leading aftermarket guides for the Canon T3i. Each of them has their strengths (and often a few weaker areas). Some might think that to be overkill, but with so many features built into "pro-sumer" cameras these days, I've found that this has helped me to remember to try features and adjustments that I otherwise might have neglected,This is an excellent guide, and explains SOME things better than the other applicable "after-guides", but then others explain some (other) things better than this one does. This would be a good choice if you expect to purchase only one guide.

Great overall!
This guide/multimedia workshop provided what I had hoped it would. I am a beginner photographer with a new camera. I have the Magic Lantern paperback book, but the DVD helped to bring it all together and make more sense. The Great Photos DVD is more about taking better pictures in general and not camera specific. All of this was very user-friendly and seemed to be in logical order. After studying the Guide, I now have enough knowledge to go out and play and take a variety of pictures using various settings. I would recommend this product to any beginner and I know I will continue to study it and watch the videos over and over.

Good Information
This came with 2 DVD's, a quick reference guide and a 65 page book that talks about the standard features of a DSLR camera. The T3i/T3 DVD is very informative, it goes through all the button and menu functions. For most of the functions, the instructor discusses what he prefers to use and why. The 2nd DVD is not specific to the T3i/T3 camera but talks about the basic/common functions that all DSLR have. It shows you what settings to use on different subjects. This is great for those that are just starting to use a DSLR camera.
