RED HEART Pomp-A-Doodle Yarn, Pinksand

Each skein arrived incased in a plastic bag., giving a different appearance vs what i purchased in the store. As it was on clearance in the store and not online, paid regular price but allowed me to finish my knitting project.Once one gets the hang of the knitting sequence, easy to do. Simple alternating pearl/garter stich. Trick is to consistently attempt 2 stitches between balls and not use a lot of tension.Downside, occiaisionally a ball will unravel and can lead to the actual corded thread unravelling. So can be a nice novelty project but not sure how it will hold up over time. Created these throw rugs by hand sewing rubber matting on the back. One recipient told me their dog has adopted the rug as their own vs intended rug to accent kitchen.

The puffs are MUCH larger than other pomp-a-doodle yarns and so didn't work for the project I had in mind. The sample pattern is for a bath mat and honestly, i can't think of anything else to do with it. The puffs are much too large to wear.

I wanted to try a different yarn for some of my craft projects, but this yarn was a disappointment. There is very little room between the pompoms making it difficult to knit or crochet with. I cut a couple of sections off to just use a pompom. I had to stop as the pompoms were coming apart. This yarn did not fulfill my expectations.

I recently found a pattern on Youtube that incorporates this type of pom-pom yarn into a blanket. This was the perfect choice! The pom-poms are large and super soft too! The softness reminds me of minky fabric. Each pom measures almost 2" x 1.5". In between each pom there is a 4" length of thin braided yarn. Make sure to buy enough of this product to accommodate your blanket if you choose to make it. There are only 14yds on each ball.
