Excellent NAS drive
Been using this for a few months, now. Installing the drives and performing the initial setup was fast and painless. Went through an initial upgrade of all the component software with no issues. Can't speak to capacity, since you buy (and install) your own drives. I put in 2 WD Red 4 TB drives and have them configured as RAID 1.Pros:* Quiet* Very fast (compared to my old MyBookLive)* Mapped drive access from our laptops was easy; very reliable* Works seamlessly with Windows backup/file historyCan't think of any significant cons, except to say a very non-technical user might struggle, a little. That said, the setup instructions were excellent, so, if you pay attention and read carefully, you should be fine.

Good value. Interface a little quirky
I'm used to uploading and copying files across the LAN using a SAMBA or WIN type share. I wasn't successful navigating and using this method to upload. However, with a USB 3 interface right on the front, plugging in a small transfer drive was easy enough and very fast for large files. Restoring the files from my dead 4 TB NAS took a few hours of futzing, but it was a lot of files and it went very fast over USB. Since my use case is mostly read-only I haven't bothered noodling out the proper way to transfer over the LAN. The only negative thing I can say about it is the UI could use some work, but it is perfectly acceptable considering the price I paid.

Software non-functional after updates
At first, this was a terrific unit that worked very well. It took us a bit to get the directories and permissions for them figured out but after that it quick and reliable. After some ADM updates we lost the ability to connect remotely. Both EZ Connect and the browser based method for access via computer no longer functioned. I have been working with ASUATOR to resolve this for over a month but they cannot seem to find the time to help or resolve this issue. If they get this resolved I'll probably change this review, but for now their customer service is the worst.

Best NAS on a budget!
Very easy to setup and also great software support. Good speed and everything runs as expected. If you want a NAS and are on a tight budget like myself, this is the NAS for you!

Very nice NAS for a very nice price
My NAS is only about 1 day old, so I can't speak as to how this will hold up in the long run, but I am very impressed so far. I stuck in 2 3TB Hitachi drives and it took about 18 hours to finishing sync'ing. I've installed Plex and Subsonic through their App store and copied all my old media from my old external drives connected to my RPi3, and within 24 hours of unboxing this I'm already up and running again. The 3 year warranty is nice too, although I hope I never need to use it. But 3 years on a NAS is the best I've seen, most others are only 2.If you're looking for an inexpensive NAS to get you some fault-tolerant storage, this one from Asus seems like the cream of the crop. The *only* gripe I have so far is that I don't think I can expand the RAM in the NAS. 512 MB isn't very much, as Plex and Subsonic chew up half that even at idle. So if I ever want to integrate my Wyze cam local storage to save to the NAS down the road, I may run into some RAM problems.

Definately a DIFFERENT type of user interface!
The good: I set this up with a pair of drives in redundant RAID quite easily and it works. Transfer speeds are acceptable over a Cat6 gigabit Ethernet connection. Price is great, case is easy to work in/on.The Bad (or maybe just different): If you have ever set up RAID servers before ... you'll find the interface WEIRD! It's an "app bassed" system. Maybe once I get used to it I'll like it a lot ... but for NOW ... I just want all my Windows machines to recognize the drive AS A NETWORK DRIVE so I can map it and easy-peasy, I got access.THIS system is NOT (!!!) recognized as a network drive, and ya gotta map it using one of the propriatariy apps. That's just cumbersome ... and weird!

Easy to use and setup
Setup was very easy. Used two 4tb Western Digital Blue SSD's with drive adaptors. Since day one has been solid running efficiently with no boot up or reboot issues. Good home entry for storing Pictures and videos.

Old one died, bought another just like it - seamless
I owned this model and we moved across the country ... the disks inside were fine but the NAS got damaged. After researching, I realized the only way to get up and running safely and quickly was to buy the same NAS again. And it worked. Popped the disks in, let it set up, and it retained all data, its name, its mapping configuration, and away we went. Rebuild RAID1 itself. Should add it lasted four years without an issue before we moved and jostled it.
