Absolutely a great value
This bike rack is awesome. It is an exceptional value over the upgrade Thule Pro 2. It holds the bikes just as well is very easy to fold up when empty, and equally easy to let down for tailgate opening. While it doesn't have the latches on the outside edge, the two bike holder is no problem to use the release lever at the base of the frame. There is no integral locks for each bikes, but all reviewers have said these are very flimsy anyway. it is so simple to wrap a cable lock around the bikes and secure it through the bike rack frame. At nearly $200 less than the Pro 2 model, this bike rack is a great value. It is so easy to load and secure two bikes into the rack, I can be loaded and locked in place in about 2 minutes. The bikes are very secure and are not bouncing around like they did on a frame rack. Do not hesitate to purchase this unit. Assembly is very easy if you can read a simple direction sheet and diagrams and apply the least bit of logic. The unit I bought had been returned because the previous owner couldn't assemble it. They had put the frame to gather upside down. What is most amazing is that by looking at the product, there are obvious labels and logos which would only go on the top surfaces of the assembled rack. Advantage me, because as a returned item, it was reduced by an additional $100. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the bold letters saying Thule would have faced out on the bike rack where they can be seen when it is folded up on the back of my truck. In closing, this is such a nice bike rack that is so easy to load and unload. I used to take 20+ minutes hanging and strapping our bikes on the old style frame racks. If your vehicle has any type of hitch, upgrade to one of these. They are much more secure. They do extend quite a bit from the back of a vehicle when the bikes are on the rack, but once the bikes are off, it folds up close to the back of the vehicle. They are not hard to pull in and out of a hitch as a folded unit.

Awesome bike rack!
I researched several bike racks before I landed on this one. I was looking for a dependable, tray-style bike rack that was easy enough to operate and assemble. This one was worth the money! Sure it's on the pricey end, but you really can't beat Thule quality. There's an excellent video on YouTube (Rack Attack channel) that takes you along the assembly process effortlessly. Looking forward to many years of use on this one.

A bit of a pain to assemble, but well worth it.
Took quite a bit longer than anticipated to assemble, and I'm a pretty handy/mechanical guy. The first issue I had was mounting the carriers on the main shaft. While it's handy that they "pre-assemble" most of the fasteners, it's also a bit of a pain that you have to loosen/remove them to actually put it together. Then there's a screw installed to prevent them from "falling off" in the event the brackets loosen up, which means you need to loosen the bracket almost to the point of coming apart. After I finally got the first one on, I simply removed the screw and put it back afterwards. It wouldn't have been nearly as bad if they didn't tell you to attach the front tire baskets first - they get in the way of using the provided allen wrench to loosen/tighten the screws. I would put them on last. The second issue was that the instructions tell you to put the carrier on with the front tire basket on the drivers' side. However, when I tried doing that, the front tire hold down interfered with the tilt locking mechanism (it would have prevented you from releasing it). Reversing it provides ample clearance to position it where indicted.Lastly, and this is more of a "use" issue than "assembly" is the bolt/receiver pin. While it does provide additional peace of mind, and makes the mount a bit more secure, having to use a wrench that you can only turn 1/12 of a turn at a time (in my application - 2015 Ram pickup) means it's a bit of an ordeal every time you want to put the rack on.All that said, the actual use of the rack is phenomenal! It's so easy, and yet holds the bikes very securely. We love it!

What a rack!
We bought this rack to hold our two new Pedego electric bikes and couldn't be happier. Each bike weighs about fifty pounds with the battery removed and this rack handles the weight without issue. Both bikes are wider than average road bikes but the rack fits them just fine. The rack appears to be constructed with very heavy-duty components and went together easily (especially after reading the directions...). As others have mentioned, the locking system to hold the rack to the hitch is fairly weak so I'll be drilling out the threads and using a hardened steel locking pin instead. Other than that minor hiccup, I high recommended this for any bike but especially heavier and/or electric bikes.

Worth the money
As long as you look at the instructions it’s fairly easy to assemble. It took about 35 -45 minutes from start to finish. This includes walking down stairs twice for tools (I didn’t like the tool supplied) and watching Tv. This thing is very heavy duty. It is well worth the money. We carry our two E-Bikes on it.

Wow! Brilliant Engineering, fine product, excellent materials and high quality workmanship. Very pleased!
This is the first Thule product I have purchased. Firstly, wow! What a brilliantly engineered bike rack. Easy assembly, perfect assembly instructions, a place for everything and everything in its place. Very rugged and holds the bikes firmly in place. Doesn't wobble around moving down the road. I highly recommend this bike rack. Assembly took about ten minutes and all tools were furnished with the kit except a flat screw driver, perfect. No more playing Tetris to jamb the bikes in the back of the rig with all the camping gear.

Incredibly solid construction and excellent design
This Thule T2 bike rack platform has incredibly solid construction and is designed for ease of use and flexibility. Some things to know before you buy, for the Thule 9044 model you need a 2-inch receiver (or 1.25-inch if you select the 9045 model) on your vehicle that has at least 1-1/2 inches of space between the hitch pin and the face of the receiver. Just measure your hitch receiver before you buy to make sure that you can safety mount this rack on your vehicle. The large box arrived at my door weighing in at just over 50 lbs. Opening the box revealed that the rack comes in three main components. Assembly is fairly straightforward, the "Stinger" arm component that connects to the vehicle to the 2-inch trailer hitch receiver goes on first and then the two bike platform components slide onto that. You have to assembly the bike platforms by simply screwing on the wheel trays using a 1/2 inch socket wrench (which they mistakenly left out of the tools you'll need at the beginning of the instructions, although you could use a flathead but that's a nightmare with the included bolt screws). You also need to remove a safety screw on the underside of the "Stinger" arm before sliding on the bike platforms - this wasn't clearly stated in the manual so it led to a little frustration until I realized the issue.Installing the rack on my SUV took me around 40 minutes - including going back to my tool box to get the socket bit and drill to secure the wheel trays. The installation is VERY secure, both in the attachment to the vehicle and in securing the bikes to the rack. I've taken it on 401 for 100s of km now as well as some city driving and on gravel roads with no issues. This thing works as advertised and has a lifetime warranty so I'm not worried at all for the several times a year I'll be using it to drive to Kingston and Ottawa.Putting bikes on the rack is very straightforward, lift the bike on and then secure with the ratcheting front arm and ratcheting back strap. You can adjust the placement of the arm and the rear wheel platform to fit all sizes of bikes and the wheel tray is wide enough to support a wide range of wheel or tire sizes from road to extreme mountain bikes.Included is a lock for the receiver, however BIKE LOCKS ARE SOLD SEPARATELY. That's my biggest con with this rack since a 2-pack of Thule bike locks currently sells for around $50 on Amazon.ca. You're basically going to have to buy these if you plan on stopping your vehicle unsupervised at all on your journey...Overall, I'm very happy with this vehicle bike rack. It is well designed, has a rugged construction, and a great warranty. My biggest issue is that Thule doesn't include the bike locks - however I didn't feel that it detracts from the overall rating of this product. You're getting the highest quality rack to securely, and safely transport your bikes.::::: Pros :::::- Solid construction- Adjustable for different sized bikes- Secure design- Quick and easy bike mounting- Tilts down easily to open liftgate- Folds up when not in use to save space::::: Cons :::::- Instructions can be a little unclear - failure to note removal of safety screw and 1/2" socket wrench needed for secure assembly- Bike locks sold separately (2-pack of Thule locks = $50 added cost)- Back-up sensors or cameras on vehicle cannot be used

Solid unit
Very solid. Instructions could be better had to build it twice as no where does it mention a left and right bike tray so the hold down arm was in the way to tilt it up.The tilt back feature could use a shock assist. 2 bike you can tilt it. 4 bikes no way unless you’re the Rock.
