This definitely works better than just tying a sock around the neck of the guitar.There's a small block of foam inside of it that is about the width of the strings. And that allows for a more even distribution of muting across all of the strings.This is good because adding this does affect the feel of the strings especially if you're doing something with a lot of bends.If you're a studio musician like me, and you don't want to spend extra money on studio time because of some stupid sympathetic string noise during a take. Then this is a good tool to have around.

This does the job, but as I'm using it on a multiscale guitar it's not as effective as it should be. Just a heads up to anyone looking at doing that.

Takes a ridiculous amount of unwanted, hard to identify, noise, out of recorded guitars and bass.On a hard tail, LP style ESP, I use for recording, I didn't want to admit that an unusually large amount of unwanted, noise is generated and picked up in recordings from in between the nut and the string winding posts. Well, after doing my own tests, I was pretty impressed in the difference in sound fidelity, when using this thing. I recorded 4 tracks, hard panned left and right, of heavily distorted guitar, with EMG 57s, and the clarity and punch when using the FretWrap was abundantly clear and a stark contrast to the recording, without using the FretWrap. Needless to say, it made me a believer and prompted this review. At first I thought this was expensive for something I figured I can make out of an old sock, however, after submitting this review, I'm buying another one for my bass and extolling it's virtues to all my musician friends. Good effective product. Easy to use and looks to be made very well made. Takes seconds from package to guitar. With a good selection of patterns and colors to choose from. Comes in different sizes as well.

This has helped immensely with getting rid of any extra noise from the strings that can sound sloppy...especially when recording. Great for those who like tapping and sweep picking. Get one!!
