I have a 2001 E46. A crack developed in the OEM expansion tank, so I purchased this replacement tank. There was no problem with the installation and fit. However, the amber coolant level indicator light did NOT go off even though the coolant was at the correct level. I did more online research and learned many aftermarket tanks are missing an internal float magnet which activities the sensor. So … I went to a local BMW Service Center and purchased one from them. I just completed the install and the amber dash light is not on. As long as you don't mind your amber dash light staying on, even though the coolant level is correct, it's okay. However, I don't like it and recommend getting one from a BMW parts supplier. It is worth the extra money.

Prompt delivery, and the product seems to be holding fine. I have had a couple of disconnections that have forced me to take another look, but this seems to be an issue with the hose and the retaining clamp.

Cheap aftermarket but missing critical feature, the magnet on the float so the car always shows low coolant since the reed sensor is always closed, otherwise fits well... too bad. I'll replace it with the an OEM one soon, it was pain to remove the first one so I'm not looking forward to it, would have sent it back if I didn't need the car that weekend.

I purchased this item in February it fit great but the coolant level light stayed on even though the coolant was filled correctly (by global bmw of atlanta) then the expansion tank exploded in June. If your looking for a cheap fix there is none just buy the oem from bmw and save yourself time and money

I could not install the coolant reservoir tank because the conection at the botton wont fit with the coolant intake car.The o ring and the plastic that cover the o ring feel down.Also when you move up and down the coolant reservoir a noise can be hear,as particles broken from inside.

Product does not meet expectations, Coolant sensor light remains on, waste of money, I now need to purchase another one from BMW directly.
