Respawn 900 Gaming Recliner Chair with Footrest, Cup Holder and Swivel

Okay, I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this chair and it was such an incredibly difficult decision to make given all of the bad reviews so I want to address the pros & cons people have been posting in hopes of helping you reach a decision faster. So here it goes. - "easy to assemble" Yes, it was easy to assemble. I do not assemble things. I do not have much experience assembling anything and even I could figure it out. So if you aren't savvy like me, you'll be fine. It took me about 1 hour to assemble with no help in a small room with crummy lighting. If this sort of thing comes naturally to you then you'll have it done much quicker. The instructions are pretty clear and it was not frustrating like I thought it would be. 5/5 easy to assemble. - "Poor Quality" I'm surprised I saw so many of these comments? I've owned about maybe 3-4 gaming chairs now (including this one) and this one is by far the best quality. I mean, if you're looking for top notch the best in the biz something that will last +15 years then maybe you're looking for a $500+ chair. I plan to upgrade myself with a $500-$1,000 chair in the future but for the price I paid for this one? Oh my gosh. It's great. I don't need it to last forever because that's not what I'm paying for. 5/5 quality. Please note I just bought this chair about 3 weeks ago so it hasn't experienced it's normal wear and tear yet. - "a loud clunking noise when you lower the handle for the foot rest" For real? Lol Yes it does make a noise but it's really not loud and definitely not a dealbreaker. I would have missed out on a great chair if I didn't buy it for only that reason. 4/5 noise level I guess? - "uncomfortable" WHAT EVEN. I don't understand! I'm so comfortable! I work 10 hour days 5 days a week and have owned it for 3 weeks now. I am so comfortable it's ridiculous. My back pain is gone and I'm just overall satisfied with this chair. This is so bizarre to me because other people claim that regular gaming chairs (such as the last one I bought, KILLABEE Massage Gaming Chair) are more comfortable. Whaaaatttt. Gaming chairs like that don't even compare to this one. In my personal opinion, it's: regular office chair -> Killabee -> Respawn -> $500+ chairs or something in that order. - "not suitable for tall people" CORRECT. Yes, true. Okay, so here's a very important con: this chair is reallyyyy not suitable for tall people. I am 5'0. In other words, I'm really frikin short. The arm rest cup holder BARELY aligns with me. It's almost just perfect for someone my size. It's only a little bit off. And the neck support is, again, only a little bit off. I have to realign it every time I lay down but it's no biggie. HOWEVER, for everyone else who is taller than me (which is most people) I can definitely see why you would be uncomfortable in this chair. The headrest pillow isn't designed to move very far from its initial place so tall people can't adjust it to what would be comfortable for them (although you can remove the headrest altogether, so keep that in mind). - "back pain" As you can see from the picture I bought a lumbar support pillow and that did the trick. No back pain at all and I was having MAJOR back pain issues with my last chair. I also bought a seat cushion which helps out tremendously. - "the material will cause you to sweat" Yes. It does get hot, which is why I have a fan pointed at my face throughout the day. I was already doing this before I got the chair so it just became a habit but it seems to do the trick. - "no height adjustment" Correct. There is no height adjustment for the chair. This does not bother me. If it bothers you then you may want to look elsewhere. - "awful, not worth the money. I found holes" Honestly, I have no explanation for this. That's unfortunate. Maybe they got sent one that's broken? Mine came in with all of it's pieces and nothing is torn or broken. Overall I really love this chair. The best gaming chair I've ever owned. I do not use it for gaming. I use it for work since I work from home and I work 10 hour shifts so I do spend a large amount of the day in the chair and I feel perfectly splendid at the end of the day. If you are picky when it comes to gaming chairs and you need to be able to adjust the height, you need outstanding quality, you need it to be adjustable for a tall person then oh my gosh DON'T BUY THIS. You will hate it. If the cons I mentioned don't really bother you or if you are a woman/man of my stature (5'0, 140lbs) and are looking for a comfy chair that is worth the price THEN BUY THIS. It's perfect for you! I am so happy with this chair and if you are thinking it's too pricey. Nah, bro. Just do yourself a favor and buy it. Anyways, thanks for reading my essay. Have a good day!

First off, I'll just say this is the best chair I've ever had. the TL/DR is: 325 lbs and I had no trouble, I sleep in this chair for health issues, comfort has never been an issue. 6'3" and very happy. The long version: I bought this because someone said they were 330lbs and had no trouble, so even though it suggests I think 275? It has been perfectly comfortable. I work often, but when I'm home I'm gaming and I'm in this chair, and I even sleep in the thing. I have sleep apnea, and I have had a long history of rolling in my sleep when I'm hot, which as my size is often. So I was pulling my CPAP mask off all the time. I had the bright idea of sleeping in the chair to see if I would keep from rolling over. Enter the period in my life where I slept better than I've ever slept. I never move, I put a pillow behind my head (Remove the one it comes with, it does nothing.) Lean back and put my feet up on my bed, I'm out in seconds and I sleep amazing. This chair was the best thing I ever did for my restfulness, and as someone in the construction field, this is very important. I've never had any part break, and it still feels as comfortable as the first day I got it. Now the downsides, but not so down that I think it doesn't still deserve a full 5 stars. SQUEAKY, the metal on metal design, it started squeaking day 1 and now it's just an old 89 chevy with the original shocks, SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK. Luckily it doesn't shift when you're relatively still, so I only notice it when I recline to get ready to sleep. 100% worth it. The material. The leather on the left arm has ripped at the seam of the section that has the checkered pattern. This is because I lean on my let arm often while gaming or watching a show, and the design has a big block of wood or something that holds the cup holder in place, but has no support going up the rest of the arm but the cushion, so there's a drop off where the constant use just pulled the stitching apart. I actually don't feel it because my arm doesn't brush up against that point, just not pleasant if I do accidentally touch it, the edge of the material is oddly sharp. I really wish this came with some kind of replaceable plug for the cup holder, I've had an old shirt balled up and shoved in there since the day I got it, which was 13 months ago. I forget it's there, because I'm plenty comfortable, but when I look down at it I just wish I had a cushion that would fit perfectly so I could ignore the cup holder, since there's no way I'd put a cup in an arm that is where I'll be leaning constantly to type or game. The flat bottom can be tough to use because I do have to pull it in and out, but I have hardwood and with skates it slides well enough. The bar people mention in the seat, yes, it can be annoying... if you slouch. This chair encourages good posture and my posture has improved so much because sitting normally, the bar actually feels supportive oddly enough, but if I slid down somehow, I'd be sitting on a metal bar. Now. keep in mind, I'm someone who slouches EVERYWHERE else, and since day 1 I didn't even think about it, I stopped slouching and just adjusted the recline if I wanted to lean back. Low to the ground: I had to adjust my gaming setup because this does sit lower than a regular computer chair, but probably not more than a console players gaming chair. I don't know, I've never used one like this, but it was 100% worth adjusting my desk setup for. It has downsides, but I think the low price really equalizes any downsides and with all of the other pluses, I have to give this a 5 because a 4 feels too low. Just assembled it and sat down. I bought mine to recline and watch movies. It should be good for that. I'm happy, but I'm gonna have to tweak a couple things and have a couple criticisms. Pros: - Very comfortable - Assembly was easy - It has a lever for the leg rest. Many chairs require you to push your calves down, making it hard to get up. - The recline can be set to many comfortable positions, not just "reclined or not reclined". - It looks great. If you get a black one it actually looks appropriate in your living room as a theater chair. - This is basically a whole new style of chair. As far as I know nobody else has anything like it... and it WILL be copied. Cons: - For me, the big one: For my height, the headrest pillow seems to be designed more as a "neck support". The back of my head is at the top of the chair which is fine, but the pillow can't go higher than my lower neck. Maybe that's the intended purpose, but it's not good when you're trying to recline and watch a screen, which is the whole reason you'd buy this chair. Going without the pillow isn't an option, but when it's in the natural position I have to look down my nose to watch movies, causing eyestrain. If the headrest goes behind my head it's much better but there's no way to hold it in place. Problem is, it's secured to the chair with stretching straps through the two holes, and those holes just aren't high enough. (And let's face it, the reason those holes are there is so that it looks like a racing seat, where those holes would be seat belt straps for a 4-point harness.) SO HERE'S MY SOLUTION: I'll go to the fabric store and get a little "extension" for the elastic strap. Hopefully I can get it in black. The strap will then go around the top of the chair, not through the holes. I'm 6'1", but even if I was 5'11" or maybe 5'10" I'd still have this issue. (Fun fact, 14% of U.S. men are over 6 feet tall.) This would be more fitting for me if the pillow could alternatively be supported with two straps which drop over the back, adjustable with velcro or snaps. - I was surprised that the knob on the leg rest lever is made of black painted wood, not plastic. Not a problem, but it popped right off. I'm going to use some epoxy to keep it on. It would probably stay on if I just tapped it on with a mallet, but I'll do it anyway. - The quality is decent, but it won't last 15+ years like a La-Z-Boy recliner. 2 years? Probably. 4 years? I think so. 6 years? Probably not. The frame is steel tubes, but not thick steel. - The leg rest mechanism gets a little "crunchy" as it moves to full extension. Upon inspection I see some flaws in the metal which will wear smooth over time so that's not a concern. - As others have noted, the vinyl (which is decent quality) will cause you to sweat in it. I wish they had one with fabric, at least on the seating surfaces. On the plus side this will be easy to clean.

Down to brass tacks... Is this chair worth the price? YES. It's double the price of RESPAWN-110, is it REALLY worth it? YES, that is a chair, this is a comfy recliner. Was the chair easy to put together? YES (but directions could be better) How long did it take to put together? Handy guy, deciphering and assembly...30 min. How does it feel sitting for long periods of time? Cushion galore, just make sure you take breaks. (your body needs it) Some reviews say that they can feel the bar? What bar? Look, if you are a REALLY big person, you MAY feel that bar. Does reclining mechanism work easy? Easy enough. Just takes a little effort. How far can I recline? Far enough, it's not 180 degrees. If you need that buy an big recliner or lay in bed. Can you move it? It has a round base so you can roll it on it's base. Can you slide it? It has 4 tiny plastic pieces on the base which might break. Best to roll it on it's round base. Do I have concerns? Some. Mainly the materials longevity and mechanical integrity. What? Explain? The faux leather typically peels off of most chairs typically around a year of use. Also, recliners eventually have parts loosen and break. Would really like a maintenance guide. Comments/Thoughts: Look, if you have the money. Buy it. It's a damn good comfy recliner. It's more than some would like to pay, but when you picture yourself trying to enjoy yourself in a chair vs a recliner...it starts to become more apparent. Also, I wanted to use this for my PSVR (PlayStation VR), and sitting in a RESPAWN -110 (at a blue super big box store) it became apparent to me, I didn't want to be sitting in that for any long period of time. SO, inform your brain and go with your gut. You got this.

My previous gaming chair was a Respawn I got at Costco 8 years ago on a whim. Unbeknownst to me that 2 years later I’d be working from home. And that chair served me well. After 6 years of sitting in it 9 hours a day, the chair lasted longer than I thought and I never stood up feeling sore. The main thing I wanted to communicate though is do not, do not, do not let any comment section or even AI tell you that you cannot or should not use an after market 5 pointed star base for this chair. Because YES YOU CAN and I strongly recommend it. The round OEM base is nothing more than a glorified tripod wrapped in faux leather. When I put this chair in my Amazon cart I got the famous “Others who bought this also bought”. And it was absolutely WORTH IT. Spend the extra $50. on a decent 5 pointed star base, and get yourself some nice casters to suit your style. The circumstance and diameter of the gas cylinder is universal and fit like a glove. This chair is the bomb.

I have used this for awhile now and it is comfortable, the seat is the right height from the floor, the leg extension is very short (I'm 5'5") and hits my legs about 1/4 way up my calves, cup holder great to have, the lean back is comfortable, and the headrest is adjustable. When I say this is "cat-proof" I mean that cats can't under the mechanisms to get caught like they can on regular recliner chairs and this is GREAT and the main reason I got this chair. PUURRRfect! The chair is light and easy to move. It was easy to assemble except for lining up the arms to attach which took a lot of patience. I love the swivel which is pure genius and a delight to use. The little remote bag on the side is also very handy. There is ample room for my wide hips and the arms are just the right height to be very comfortable. I recommend this chair for a couple hours of use at a time with the legs extended. After that the pressure of having legs dangle is uncomfortable for me. Just sitting in it, however, without the legs extended is very comfortable for hours.

I really want to rate this chair more highly- it is sturdy, well made, largely comfortable, looks good, has a real footrest instead of some fragile extension pad, etc. However, there are several two issues with it that have made it not just unusable for me but actually led to a pretty significant shoulder injury. 1. The wingback portion of the chair is simply too narrow for my frame. I have 46" shoulders- wide, but not outlandishly so- and I just do not fit into the chair comfortably. I find myself constantly turning to get one shoulder blade or the other to fit properly, and if I do lean back into it my shoulders are rolled forward really severely. Net effect of this has been a joint impingement in my shoulder for which I'm currently working through PT. 2. The seat and especially lumbar support are lacking. The seat cushion is thin enough to very clearly feel the support bars underneath and only got worse with use. There is zero lumbar support in the chair- the chair back itself basically molds your entire body into a non-stop gamer hunch. As a last-ditch to try to salvage the chair I added an extra $100 in memory foam cushions to address both issues, but that just further wrecked the ergonomics of it. 3. Finally, this is a minor quibble compared to the first two, but the chair is not height adjustable, so if you are over around 5'8 I have trouble seeing how this would work for you. So I wanted this chair to work for me. Thought it was cool, had the look and all of the amenities I wanted, and I was stubborn enough about it to actually injure myself trying. Don't be me. If you are over around 5'9 or have shoulders wider than around 40" (so if you wear anything larger than a medium shirt), look elsewhere for your chair.

I bought this as a combination office/gaming chair and move it in my room to my desk or in front of my TV as I need to. I saw this chair in Staples and didn’t buy it then and I wish I had done so. The only reason why I have the easy to assemble 4 stars is because you might need a second person to hold the back of the chair so you can get it together. It’s extremely comfortable and I have had no issues with it falling apart or the leather. I absolutely love this chair. The multi-angle reclining makes gaming comfortable in any position. The lumbar support is great. I am 5’2 and 103 pounds. I cannot say that this chair would be that comfortable for someone that is a lot larger than me. I personally love this chair and would definitely buy another one.
