only like 1 inch wide
very slippery that's good but it's only like 1 inch wide and my heel is like 2 1/2 inches wide. I'm not a baby! also arrived bent by shipper.

Great Ergonomics for this Shoehorn
When I was much younger, my dad had an extended shoehorn, and loved it--he recommended that I get one as well. At the time, I felt it was for people who had a hard time bending over to put on their shoes. I never thought about the use of a shoehorn to protect the Heelcap and Topline of the shoe, as well as making sure my socks did not wrinkle onto my Achilles heel area. I never put together that my blisters in the achilles area from my extended walks were due to sloppy foot insertions! After buying this extended shoehorn, I can much more easily slip into my shoes without puckering my socks, and do less damage to my shoes' Topline. This particular extended metal shoehorn has a spring connector, making it more comfortable to insert my foot into the shoe without having to manipulate the shoehorn around, and risking breakage or bending of the joint between the shoehorn and extender rod..

Really nice. Measures 24" overall (hanging loop excluded), just the right length.
Good quality, and works as intended.

Wrong evaluation by others.
We first bought this same shoe horn in Japan over fifty years ago. We still use it today and bought three more to use around the house and also we wanted to give one to a friend. Others have complained that the spoon bent. This is actually funny because it has a spring near the head to allow a user to move the handle without moving the blade. Other somehow couldn't discern that it wasn't the head that bent but the spring mount

Good Quality, but short after Hip Replacement
I think one a bit longer would have been better at first since he had limited "bending". I got this for my husband after hip surgery. I helped him with his shoes the first 6 weeks, then got him this. He had some trouble at first because it's not real long, but he figured it out. I think one a bit longer would have been better at first since he had limited "bending". He still uses it now, 3 months post surgery and it's perfect for now!The quality is good, and I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars mostly to help others not to make my same mistake

Ease of use
We keep this hanging on a nail next to our shoe rack. It's easy to grab and ease our feet into some of our tight shoes.

Cheaply made
The shoehorn part of this item is cheaply made, bent the first time I used it

Long and sturdy.
This is long and sturdy. I have used it for 6 weeks. I have had a recent accident which has limited my ability to bend and lift one foot to put my boots on. I bought this to make it easier to slide my foot into my Justin Ropers. It works well when I can keep my heel on it. The problem is that it usually slips off tot he left or right and I have to start over. I am not sure if a wider shoe horn is made, but that would give this 5*.

Very Thin
Good but a little thinner than I would have expected, can be a little uncomfortable to use.
