The only bad thing I can find with this product is the headphone audio out. When I​ try to use this with any headphones to listen, the volume is so low, it's almost like the thing won't go past half max volume. The speaker even works better to listen.

This is just what I need for school to record the lectures. It works exelent. Exelent quality of recorded material, easy to operate, and thery easy to transfer the material to the computer. Because it is a small size, I can take it everywere with me and listen my lecyures at home , in the car, in the library, in the park, ect. I love it and recomend to my friends.

The switch to turn on and off broke. Cheap looking and worked decent till switch broke.

The sound is terrible. It's very difficult to transfer recording to your computer. There is no OFF button!The USB charger cable is way to short.The instructions for use are worthless.It is too small-too small to fit comfortably in your hand.The ear buds are unusable--too big (hard plastic) to fit in any ear.Major disappointment.

great device - small, easy to use, light and you can take anywhere. sound quality is amazing!

Easy to use. Great recording quality, I sit in the back of a classroom consisting of 36 people and it picks up every word of what my professor says. With the noise cutting options it takes out all the little noises (sneezes, coughs, whispers). I highly recommend this recorder.

Works great. Sitting a couple rows from the front of the class does well for the audio. Clear sound, easy to transfer to computer. Battery lasts after few hours of use (from that I've seen), might last longer but my classes only last about 3 hours a day of use

I was buying this device to work with "Dragon naturally speaking" software.I found out that my recording are ok if you listen to it, but the transcribing software of dragon cannot distinguish between background noises, ending up with a text that not making a lot of sense.I wish it came with the extended microphone in the box; not having to buy it separately.

Very compact unit with decent quality sound but recordings sound like your in a tin can.

I bought this recorder because I needed it for work sometimes. I thought I would go all out and spend on an expensive recorder so I would not have to worry about it breaking down. To my disappointment, this Sony recorder stopped working one year and one month after the purchased date.

Bought this to conduct research interviews and it works like a charm. It picks up sound quite well. I often held interviews at coffee shops and the person didn't have to speak particularly loud to have their words picked up. LOVE that you can plug it right into the computer to transfer. Battery life is good as well. Would definitely recommend.
