Mythical Monkeys
I fully enjoyed reading this book. As with a Perry Mason mystery it kept me on the edge of my seat from the very start to the last chapter. I look forward to my next Perry Mason book.

MYTHICAL AND MYSTERIOUS!
Perry Mason, Della Street and Paul Drake can solve any criminal mystery in the most entertaining fashion. Trust Erle Stanley Gardner to deliver the goods!

Retro Perry
Fun retro read if you can overlook the sexism that runs rampant through this series. The book Perry is very different from the tv Perry and not such a stickler, which makes him a little more fun.

Irritating, unsatisfying Perry Mason mystery
If you are a new reader to the Perry Mason series do not make this your starting point. I haven't read a Perry Mason mystery in more years than I care to count but I am still familiar with them. Looking for a good Mason case to read I was intrigued by the description provided for the book here. Don't be fooled! This is one of the most annoying books I have suffered through in some time. The plot begins well but too soon the characters all become sources of painful irritation. The normally lively banter between Mason and Tragg seems draggy and lifeless; the mystery is incredibly contrived and has too many plot conveniences; an ever astute Perry makes a simply unbelievable sighting of a key witness. Then, near the end of the book, two of the characters exhibit exasperating behavior that Gardner seems to believe adds to the readers enjoyment. It doesn't - it aggravates all the more! And finally the payoff isn't at all acceptable. I may return here to buy another Perry Mason book sometime in the future, but I won't be holding my breath until then.

Clever Court Room Drama...
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, not because murder happened or because the murderer got caught....that would be standard fare. More than anything else, I was captivated by the smart legal moves and clever legal turns during a Preliminary Hearing. Vintage Perry Mason, just a little bit better than usual....!

Perry Mason at his prime!
Complicated as usual. And in this case truly ridiculous. But this is Perry Mason at his prime.

Very bad editing. Very good story
Terrible editing in the Kindle edition. Many uncorrected typos and misspelings, lessening the enjoyment of a very good story

Good book, bad scanning
A good Perry Mason read with the usual twists and turns. I deducted a star because of the really poor scanning job. The Kindle version was filled with typos and gibberish characters that any spell checker would have caught. They appeared frequently enough to be annoying. Run your spell checker, people.

Perry Mason story never disappoints
Have read and reread many Earl Stanley Gardner's Perry Mason books. He builds up the mystery, brings in and develops varied characters, makes sure that the needle of suspicion keeps oscillating, lands the story smoothly without a thud. And when in the end he summarizes, it appears so simple. In the aret of telling a complicated story with logical and a simple end, Gardner has few rivals.
