Small light, and does the job
I have a phone which doesn't have a 3.5mm socket, but really happy with my headphones, so needed a solution. This does the trick - it has volume and track changing controls, sound quality is excellent, battery life is good, and it easily goes 8 hours or so (and charges quickly). The bluetooth connection isn't that strong - but when in range is really stable, and never drops. My only two gripes are that the mic seems fairly directional, and so I need to pay attention to where it is when I'm on calls, and secondly there isn't a mute control - so if I want to mute myself, I need to use the control on the phone. All in all, I'm very happy with it, and would definitely recommend to others.

You won't get better at this price point
I was a little confused by some of the bad reviews here and thus felt the need to write this.I bought these as a simple way to improve the sound on an older REDMI phone (fantastic battery life, appalling DAC) that I use to listen to Apple Music on very long cycles. While the sound quality is not as good on FIIO's BTR3 - and given the price difference and lack of LDAC this is to be expected - it's much, much better than the phone. It's also smaller than FIIOs BTR5/5 and lacks the connection to FIIOs app, and thus no built-in, firmware EQ.The battery is as quoted, perhaps a little longer, and it will continue to work while charging. It connects like any other Bluetooth device and can pair to two devices at the same time (I tried it with my laptop and phone. I have also used it with my TV and can confirm there is no lag and thus no issues with poor lip-synching/audio delay. It's also loud.Overall, another decent item from FIIO for people that want: to turn a wired pair of earbuds into Bluetooth earbuds, want to improve the sound quality on a phone that needs it.In my case, it gave some audio life to a phone that desperately needed it.

Excellent little device, fragile looking clip.
Great connection and sound. Battery life is good. It’s very light. You could connect it to a headset without adding any noticeable weight. The track switching is a bit counter intuitive. Hold volume up to skip back and volume down to skip forwards. The clothing clip looks like it will fail after a while.

Probably exactly what you're looking for
I'm 18 (my ears are good) and there's no noticeable difference in sound quality when paired with my Bose qc20i compared to plugged in.I've tested Spotify, SoundCloud, and YouTube on my phone. It can also act as an amplifier if your headphones need that.If you've got a really good quality audio output then you might want to consider a more expensive option but no smartphone is going to require that.It doesn't feel cheap/like it's going to break. The aux port is really solid as well; takes a fair bit of force to take your headphone wire out. There's also an led indicator on the front.Inline headphone controls didn't work for me but there's a volume button on the device itself with skip track controls. It turns off after like 2 minutes if you dont pair with it, so you don't have to worry about accidentally turning it on even though that seems hard to do since you hold the on/off button to use it.Also if you're considering this vs a dongle I would recommend this since it makes your phone easier to take out your pocket. If you own noise cancelling headphones that have a chip/battery at the end of the wire then this is a must have because a dongle + that thing is ridiculous, and you can just tape the fiio to your headphone battery since its so small. (I took the clip off to make it smaller).

Amazing little device
My gaming headset decided to die on me and so I wanted a way to turn my studio headphones into wireless ones. The clip on the back let me clip it to the side of my headphones. This little device does exactly what I wanted and as far as I can tell has no effect on the sound quality compared with the headphones being plugged in. Connects over a high quality bluetooth protocol.Battery life has been very good, only needing a charge maybe every other day when being used all day every day. It also warns you when it is getting low on battery. Charges up really quickly and you can charge it whilst using it.Volume controls on the device are quite handy too.The only thing I haven't used is the mic so no idea if it is any good.

Lots of volume great quality
First impressions...this is a great bit of kit. My first foray into headphone amps. I'm using it with akg earphones....the ones that come with Samsung phones. Running off Huawei mate 20 pro with Spotify max quality. At full tilt there is around 50percent more volume...and no distortion at all. A small amount of harshness to miss and highs but easily sorted with equaliser. Plenty of bass. Tiny and well built. Handy little clip. Easy to connect. I can't comment on battery yet but if it lasts longer than 4 hours I'm good. I'm no audiophile but I know what sounds good to my ears. And this does.
