Looking at the price per ounce. I get $1.75/ounce for the $192 12 pack of 28 ounce tubes, & $2.30/ounce for $280 five gal bucket. Is my math wrong?

No, your math is backwards. The current price on Green Glue cases would be about .57 cents per ounce. The current price on Green Glue pails would be about .44 cents per ounce. But that doesn't really tell you the true cost. What is more important is cost per square foot of coverage. The buckets are around .77 cents per square foot while the cases are right around $1 per square foot.

What is the difference between the Green Glue and the sealant that is about half the cost,both say they stop sounds travel??

The difference between the Green Glue Compound and the Green Glue Sealant is has followed. The Compound works by never drying when sandwiched between 2 layers of ridge material. This layer of Compound acts has an instable region for sound waves and vibrations and disperses them. The Sealant is only used in small amounts at any location where there is a seam, or outlet box, light fixture, etc. This material will dry and can be sanded and painted. i hope this answers your question. How fast does this dry once we open the bucket? We will wait a few weeks before we get to the second half of our room, will it dry out?

No. I put clear plastic to the glue surface and then on top over the can opening and put lid over the plastic. Should last easily last for 15 days in cool place.
