So they're not going to last forever but I like how weighty they are and the appearance
I bought these to replace the same set I bought about five years ago. So they're not going to last forever but I like how weighty they are and the appearance, which is a beautiful marbled red out of the box. The bulky size means they don't sit as nicely in a silverware tray, but I am okay with that.Over years of use, this does become dull, and the finish chips off the handle where it joins to the cutlery part. This doesn't make it unusable, however. The same part does require a little more care when cleaning manually, so you'll want to make sure there's no food particles left over.Through the 5 years I had my first set, one piece broke in the handle when it dropped on the floor and I accidentally melted the handle of another on a burner. Oops! However, none of the handles detached, and the other issues were really cosmetic in the long run. I will replace them as needed. it's a good price for the value!

Love the looks!
I love this silver ware (first set I bought of them was at Pier 1. The red plastic handles feel substantial and the metal ornamentation looks good and impressive. I've had many complements about how unique and attractive this set is. The downside is that the metal ornamentation collar often gets loose and I have glued it back so there is no wiggling. Rarely, the utensil end can simply become loose and come apart. The price is excellent , and so I have bought a few sets over the years and simply replace a fork or spoon here and there if one becomes defective

Elegant but not durable
Have now had this product for about a year & I do not use them year round.Although they are very elegant, they do not hold up well in the dishwasher. The ones used most frequently have discolored at the embossed metal sleeve. They are now silver like the fork tines rather than being burnished. And some of the utensils' burnished metal sleeve have become loose, so when you come to use them, they feel shakey - not necessarily what you'd like when you have company.

Not worth the price
For the price, I was expecting exceptional quality. Instead we got worse quality than cheap stuff from Kmart. The large, lightweight handles are comforatble for our arthritic hands, which is why 2 stars. This silverware is supposed to be dishwasher safe, but the decorative casting is already starting to corrode after just a few washings with a major name-brand detergent, making them look pretty bad. Apparently this part is just cheap pot metal. One of the spoon bowls has a flaw in the casting that is starting to corrode in the dishwasher. There were already a few scratches and other marks in the plastic handles right out of the box, but they still looked pretty nice, so we discarded the packaging, so we can't return them to Amazon. They're also no longer in 'new' condition, since they're corroded. We'll be contacting Hampton Forge to see if they'll honor their lifetime warranty. It is now 2 months later. I have attempted to contact Hampton Forge but have never gotten through to a real person at customer support and never gotten a reply to emails or voice mail. When one of the spoons broke this weekend while stirring food in the kitchen, I finally tried the operator at Hampton Forge and her English was so bad she had a hard time getting my info correct. I don't have much confidence that anyone will contact me this time either. It is now late July, 2012 and to my amazement I actually got a full refund check from Hampton Forge. After my call mentioned above plus some emails to customer support, I received an email with a link to their return/refund form which I filled out, complete with attached photos as they requested. They did not require me to return the flatware.

Set photographs and presents beautifully
This is a nice statement flatware set that photographs and presents beautifully. That said, the handles are a standard quality plastic, and the stainless utensils are obviously not top quality. I have service for 4 to use for statement tablescapes that I photograph. I doubt the set would hold up with frequent use.

Nice but special care needed
This is a beautiful set of flatware. The only problem I found is that it's supposed to be dishwasher safe and putting them in the dishwasher sort of, for lack of a better word, discolored the section between the utensil and the handle. I then handwashed them and they got somewhat better. I guess this is one less thing to put in the dishwasher now. :-(

Pretty but not sturdy
These are terribly prettyโฆ however, they just don't hold up to regular use and the dishwasher. They begin to wobble and pull apart. Many forks just flat broke in half! I probably have only 2/3 of this set left. My daughter received the same set as a Christmas gift. Hers did the same thing. Would not recommend if you want to keep a set for very long.

Hampton Forge Argent Sophia 20 piece Flatware Set one piece damaged.
I purchased this set, and while I love the set in general, one spoon handle was damaged. I sent their customer service address a letter with a picture showing the damage to the spoon handle, and asking for a replacement spoon. I have not heard one word from the Hampton Forge Argent Sophia Custoer Service Department.
