Great bow, even better for the price.
I received my bow a few days ago, and threw it together in a flash. The quality feels great, it's balanced, solid construction, nice wood. Stringing this bow ALONE (I had to) can be pretty difficult if you don't find a way to get good leverage, but with a friend (Just to slip the string on the other end) it should be no problem for anyone. As far as strength goes, this bow packs a punch. From about 15-20 yards I sank a bolt 6" into a full grown strong willow tree, needless to say it's not coming out. I've used this for pest control (Groundhogs, Raccoons, other annoying things that want to eat my chickens) and it's more than enough, I'd believe with some good bolts and proper broad-heads you could use this as a cheap cheap hunting weapon. I don't doubt it could kill a deer. The arrows are definitely practice arrows, aluminum and not high quality, but there's nothing wrong with them. For $8 you can get another 6-pack and have plenty for target shooting. Alot of people said they've had their arrows bend, and this will happen over time, but my arrows are all still straight as can be. The bow is VERY accurate (Damn near hit my 1st bolt on the 2nd shot) and the iron sights are pretty good. The scope that comes with is the same quality you'd find on a cheap $80 pellet gun, not very good but does the trick. I'd recommend a better scope if you're not an iron sight type person. Overall this is a great bow, obviously not your super top of the line $1,200 professional hunting compound crossbow with auto-cocking foot massager, but for the price and the quality you really can't beat this deal. Replacement strings are inexpensive, replacement arms are inexpensive, and the bow itself is solid. Highly recommended for sport or just for fun.

Serious Crossbow
When the Amazon box first arrived and I opened it to reveal the Crossbow box inside I thought I made a mistake. It looked like I had bought a toy. However, when I pulled everything out the first thing I noticed was the quality of the components. The wood stock is very nice, very solid. The aluminum rail is well machined and affixed to the stock flawlessly. The prod is solid as well as are all the bits that came in the box. Stringing the crossbow is very difficult. I went ahead and bought the stringer and it did make it a lot easier to string. One thing, the brace height needs to be 3 1/4". So, twist that string a bunch on one side or the other before you put it on. Also, wax that string really well before you take your first shot and then wax it every 30 or so shots after that. That will insure a long life for the string. Also, lube that rail with some silicone based lubricant. That will also help the string last a long time. You'll need to make sure to measure brace height and keep it at around 3 1/4". You measure from the middle of the prod to the middle of the string. I dropped a 4x32 mil-dot scope on my crossbow and it shoots 1" groups at 15 yards all day long. I shoot 2219's with 125 grain field tips for target, 125 grain 3 blade broadheads for real hunting and 150 grain blunts for small game. This crossbow is not a toy and is fully capable of taking deer sized game at 40 yards.

Recommended but there are some flows
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this crossbow. It is definitely leading item of such kind at amazon in terms of price/quality ratio. Doubtlessly, such brands as Horton or Barnett would offer you more, but they cost 5-6 times more. This crossbow can be successfully used for any sport or hunting activity and looks to be rather durable as well. In any case, if you are newbie, I definitely recommend it to be your first crossbow --------------------------------------------------- It is 4 month since I have this crossbow, so I can give you some updates, which are not very positive ones: first of all, I got problems with string, as threads started to disintegrate rather soon. String is combination of braided threads knotted at bow arms. In addition, I found very unpleasant problem, after each shot, knotted ends of the string started to "twist" around the bow arms, thus, changing position of the string. Initially, I had to correct the position of the string after each shot and it was not easy at all. Although I managed to fix this flow by putting two plastic tie bands at the points where string is attached to arms. But in any case, I ll need replacement string very soon (think they are cheap). Please note, it is very difficult to cock this cross bow. You'll need quite a powerful effort and if you use it for prolonged period, while walking or doing any other physical activity, you soon feel, it becomes harder and harder to cock it (you are simply losing your muscle power to do it again and again) I seriously doubt, that average female can cock it at all. Also, note that it is sensibly heavier than good expensive crossbows. This gives you feeling of well crafted piece, but the weight becomes a burden in a longer walks Besides of all the above mentioned, I can still recommend it just for one simple reason - it's price. Good crossbows for real hunting cost 5-6 times more and I suspect they are 10-15 times better than this one, but if you are not ready to pay 600$ for good crossbow, than just buy this one. You will not regret. But, if you are in search of good hunting weapon, which is light, durable, precise and etc then you can confidently skip this one and you have to pay much more money

great toy
Hi y'all I received this item this morning and I have to say yee haw this little thing is a fun little adult toy... yes TOY! Yes it is powerful enough to kill something but so is my bb gun... easy to assemble instruction on back of box if you need them... easy to string easy to pull back easy to shoot... mine came with 8 bolts all of them are almost straight and great for shooting at a good foam target (Walmart sells foam archery targets for $17) I suggest getting one...This is far from a real crossbow but well worth the $100 for back yard shooting... quality build for the money and with a little patient's sighting it in it is surprisingly accurate scope is a cheap bb gun / 22 scope but nice enough for this thing although it is not powerful enough for a scope... but with knowledge of windage and elevation you can use it to take out a full can of soda from 100yrds ! I highly recommend this for cheap stress relief just make sure to order bow wax with it... and make sure you wax string after every use and check all screws before use...

Nice quality for the price
Nice quality for the price, spend $5 on a stringer to help you get the string on and you will be glad you did. The scope is cheap so I left it off, the iron sights are fine. Arrows are ok as long as you don't hit anything hard just a target that is meant for crossbows. You get 7 arrows total and they have removable practice tips so you could put broadheads on if you wanted to. The arrows it comes with are 15" and it hits the target very fast at 25 yards, I purchased 16" carbon fiber and 20" carbon fiber arrows here is what I found out the 16" which are hard to find hit with the same speed and power as the 15" it comes with and I could hit out to 35 yards max pretty consistently where I wanted, the 20" arrows shoot fine but they are longer and heavier so it does not have the same speed or power noticeably less but I think you could hunt fine with it at 25 yards but it falls off a little and slows down after that. Good 25 to 35 yard crossbow.

Sorry to this Point
Nicely crafted & easy to assemble should look great on the wall.Only one problem it's impossible to cock!At first I thought it was weakness due to age so I got the cocking assist devise by Allen.I could see the potential problem so I donned my workshop face shield good thing after 2 close tries I REALLY pulled & I kid you not the line on the cocking devise Snapped!!! Thanks to my face shield I only got a bruised big toe. Tomorrow it's going to a local "expert" to have it evaluated. I suspect the string is too short. It was also very hard to string w/the help of a friend who can bench press more than I weigh. The string was most likely made in China like cocking devise.

Not what I had in mind...
Well, simply put, it's a made a lil cheap... The arrows that come with it are cheap as well, but they make good for practice... It looks like a toy... But it's really not... Would be good starter crossbow for the youth age group... Another thing is it's hard to pull back, if it's a gift for the youth, or for the average female: GET A COCKING DEVICE... The scope sucks I didn't even put it on... Again the average female couldn't cock this thing... It will keep the rodents out of the yard though..

Best toy ever
This thing just rocks! The very first arrow/bolt I shot was Scarface style. It just flew over the neighbor's fence by a few inches. Never found where it went. ;) But after that it was a slow learning curve on calibrating the scope. At about 55 yards a bolt almost completely goes through 2 layers of an orange rubber street cone. It can penetrate almost 2 1/2 inch ply wood layers. At about 60 yards a stray bolt hit the yard fence and went through about 3 inches out on the other side. Left a nice clean circle through the 1/2 inch thick wood fence. Using a cocking string you do have to use the handle or trigger guard as a lever. If you just pull the string straight up with the cocking string then it will rub against the safety switch and possibly disabling the safety and disabling the crossbow. Best bang for the buck for some drunkin' fun time. I do advice to get some string wax. After roughly 60 shots the provided wax on the string is all gone. I'd imagine if I kept shooting this more then my string may fray. Seems logical to keep it "lubed". This is my first bow/arrow purchase ever. It really does the job well. I know there are other x-bows out there that can do powerful wonders at powerful prices, but this one does incredible stuff at an incredible price. Best band for your x-buck. Why play around with 80lb bows when you can get 150lb for not much more.
