Nice harp
Pictured is a size comparison with the Roosebeck 22-string Heather HarpI really like this harp, it's pretty good quality and fairly priced for its size. I ended up returning it, but only so that I could buy the bigger version in its place, since I liked it so much and wanted a bigger range!

but the inside packaging was horrible and would not have kept this item safe at ...
This was one of the few disappointments for me from an online order. This is a poorly made harp and not for any kind of harp sound to be made from it. The wood was damaged upon arrival although the box was not, but the inside packaging was horrible and would not have kept this item safe at all, which it did not. This is not for a child or an adult - This is a product that is a waste of wood and string, sadly. So do not buy it as you will be disappointed if you expect any time of musical instrument, which it is advertised to be. I hope Amazon removes it. Thank you.

Very pleased.....
I am interested in learning to play the harp and thought trying it out and learning on a smaller harp would be best. Being an acoustic guitar player and having a small LCD tuner on hand made for a great beginning with this beautiful Roosebeck baby harp. As any guitar player knows, it takes time for new strings to "settle in" and so tunings are frequent until new stings find their place. I expect it to be no different with a harp and once the initial tuning was complete I was pretty excited. The harp is the perfect size since I really wanted something not bulky and a bit portable. It felt good to hold and the strings smooth on the finger tips. I was thinking before the harp arrived, I might like to put steel strings on it at some point later. But after playing a bit I find the sound of the nylon strings it came with soft and pleasing. The wood has a beautiful smooth finish, and the harp itself is sturdy and well made. (The design on the bottom sides of the harp I received is knotwork which I actually prefer to the design shown above.) If you go the Mid-East web site it sells for $139 but I got mine for $109 here at Amazon sold through Alto Music. So for the price I feel I made an excellent choice and am totally looking forward to getting to know and to playing this fine musical instrument.

Harp doesn't hold the tuning pegs that well
Cute little functional harp for my almost 2-year old. Does what I expected it to do, harp arrived with the bottom blue (F) string not even connected. Looked like it was attempted but it was completely loose in transit or something. I have years of musical experience playing multiple instruments and participating in different kinds of conventional western ensembles (orchestra, symphonic winds, concert band, show orchestra, small-scale harp ensembles, etc), and with this harp I'd say this might not be the best instrument to start learning how to play harp on if one is serious about learning. I'd get a Harpsicle/fullsicle for starting out on a budget. The tuning pegs are easy to turn but they do not hold that well when tuning in one sitting. I tuned the strings and then realize all of them had slipped and gone flat moments later. Since this harp only has 12 strings, you can't expect to play a song much with both of your hands, and you're limited to mostly playing melody with your right hand. There are no levers as well so you'd probably be best off tuning the strings to all natural notes.

I also find that it's better to play by ear than to search for sheet ...
My baby harp was delivered this past Sunday, and I have been loving every second with it. As stated in other reviews, the pegs do struggle, at first, to hold their positions (the low F and G string, in particular.) However, this doesn't seem to be a permanent issue. The pegs seem to have adjusted throughout my constant playing/tuning these past several days, and now the strings are able to stay in tune for much longer. Please note that this order DOES come with a tuning device, which makes tuning a breeze. The tone of the harp is just lovely and peaceful. Many folks will try to convince you that there's little that can be played on a 12-string harp, but I'm quickly discovering how untrue that is, so long as I tune the strings to the proper key of whatever I want to play. I also find that it's better to play by ear than to search for sheet music; it's much easier to learn songs that way, as there is not much sheet music out there for the 12-string harp. All in all, this is a great instrument. I'm thrilled with it. AND it's so pretty to look at, to boot! Gorgeous woodwork! If you're on the fence of purchasing it (as I once was), just do it! You'll adore the harp.

12 String Harp
Beautiful little harp! I am not at all disappointed with this product. But i do want to warn those who are looking to begin playing the harp, there really isn't any sheet music or books that you will find to help you learn to play this instrument. I have hunted the internet for days to find something and really cant. Not even a video. With 12 strings there really isn't that much that you can play, and you'll have to convert as much as you can to a specific scale to play what you want, but even then, if you're serious about playing the harp, get something with more strings. I plan on buying a 19-21 string harp next time, but this is fun to play around with and will be nice for the kids to practice on as they grow up. That being said the harp comes with a bag to cover it with, a set of extra strings, and a tuner tool that is very easy to use. Though i do suggest having a electronic tuner such as a Snark that you can clip on to help you, otherwise you\ll be doing it by ear.The harp itself is very beautiful! I love the design on the sides and the sound is just wonderful to the ears. Its great to just pick up, sit on your lap, and pluck at, no matter if you know any songs or not. Sometimes its just nice to make a tune of your own, as long as you enjoy it. I'm overall very happy, though i do wish i could find a book or video of some sort to help learn a few songs. The recommended books, as I've read from other comments, are not applicable to this harp. I plan on going to a few music shops to ask around, but if i don't find anything, it will still be a relaxing instrument to play for fun.
