Purchased this in 2013/ 2024 updated review....
2024: I've had this model since 2013 now. Little to no issues other than a sticky piston valve assembly which is common and is an easy fix once you know that's the cause of little water pressure. Some summers I use it, some I don't at all and it starts right up thanks to the Honda engine. I may go 2-3 yrs not using it. The pump still is working strong. There is a reason Simpson still sells this SAME model and uses the SAME parts a decade later. I should change the oil regularly but honestly as much as this washer sits and isn't routinely maintained it's amazingly reliable. I should dump the fuel out as well this year. Mental note to change the oil in the next month though. You don't need more than 3k-3500psi. The GX engine and AAA pump is the right combination. Honda's GX is always the better way to go whether it's on a mower or generator. The hose I upgraded to at the time of purchase is still in service with no issues and believe it or not the QD connectors are still good. Did spray one with wd-40 today because it was sticky and wouldn't snap on. Anyone having issues that I saw came from shipping but that happens and that's not a manuf. fault or the seller. Carriers all suck typically. --------- First Review: This was a replacement for a lessor HP/ PSI consumer model that I owned for 10 yrs or so (craftsman). Like many people I did a lot of research and it eventually came down to Simpson and Generac. I chose this Simpson model because of its features, engine and pump quality. I did upgrade to a Simpson 50ft hose (MH5038QC) and QD connectors for the hose and wand. This model is similar to the Dewalt DXPW3228 but at a substantial savings in price. Simpson makes many (if not all) of Dewalt's pressure washers. I used that money to purchase the hose and still saved $200 (minus local taxes had I purchased in a store). The price for this unit on Amazon cannot be beat and you will not find a lower price (I looked everywhere). This is a unit that will serve many purposes from general household uses to vehicle cleaning, etc. If you are going to be cleaning your driveway, porch and walkways...purchase a cylindrical surface cleaner like the EZ Clean AEZ31023. This single attachment is THE most useful tool for cleaning concrete!! I can't stress this enough after not using one for years it made my life so much easier and saved me a lot of time. My unit came shipped with everything with no missing parts, no damage, etc. The directions are very easy to understand/ follow and are authored for the inexperienced user. Setup was easy...just add the included oil and your fuel and off you go. The engine was quieter than my previous Briggs & Stratton. Honda engines are good quality and generally are more quiet than others. Pressure washer engines in general though aren't quiet so don't expect this one to be any different. I'm not sure why people complain about the noise....it's an engine, it makes noise. I only know of a few generator engines that are quiet but they are $1600 and up so you pay for the noise reduction. This unit has the GX engine which is better than the GC. It has a triplex pump which will last the average homeowner a really long time if taken care of (meaning in the winter or when storing for a long time, use pump saver like the Briggs & Stratton 6039 can). It utilizes the most common connectors and parts so finding them will be easy. You can always cross reference with the Dewalt model if you have problems finding them. Enjoy your pressure washer!

Excellent Machine - Powerful and Reliable
Bought an Excel 3100 (from Walmart - Amazon wouldn't deliver to my area) and it blew up in 35 minutes - seriously, 35 minutes! Upgraded to this machine and I am glad did! The Simpson starts easily and runs like a champ. First day out I used it for 6 straight hours, stopping only for fuel (gas for the washer, beer and a sandwich for me) and it never missed a beat. Have used it for a couple of hours on 3 other occasions and ran perfectly every time. It's really more power than I need but really happy I decided to go to the triplex pump and the peace of mind it provides in not having to worry about it failing or wearing out. Plus, I find I can run it with the throttle only midway and still get plenty of power, but with less noise. The low profile is great for storage. Mine seems even lower than what is pictured; the uprights on the handle are not nearly as long as the website shows. There is no way I can hang the coiled hose on the hook because the hose just flops on the ground even if I roll it into a pretty small coil. But it works for me because I can store the unit in a small space under a shelf in my garage. I really would recommend this machine if you have any significant power washing to do. The extra cost is worth it. p.s. If you are anywhere near 6' tall and are cleaning a patio or other ground level surface, get a wand extender to save your back. Like every other stock gun I've had, the wand is way too short to use comfortably - definitely worth the 20 bucks for an extension. Simpson Cleaning 80162 Universal 31-Inch Spray Wand for Cold Water Pressure Washers, 4500 PSI . And if you've got a little more in the budget, I would also really recommend a 50' hose if you are working in an expanded area or just want to get farther from the noise of the engine. Simpson Cleaning 40226 3700 PSI Cold Water Replacement/Extension Hose for Gas and Electric Pressure Washers, 5/16-Inch by 50-Feet (I just realized when I added this link that I bought all Simpson products! It just worked out that way when I searched for the items that got good reviews and met my budget. Really, I don't work for Simpson!)

Reliable Honda Engine, Great Build Quality
Wonderful product. Great build quality and it runs without any issues or hiccups. I bought a surface cleaner and the two combined cleaned my patio and driveway soooo quick and cleaned so well. Just make to sure to do the proper maintenance on the product. Should last 10+ years

Save your money - donโt buy Simpson
Have written and updated this four times now and still not showing up in reviews for some reason. Last attempt. I originally posted some comments and described the failure of my machine; withholding full review unit seeing how Simpson supports their products. Now Iโm documenting the answer to thatโฆ Here is how Simpson pitches this machine: โ The SIMPSONยฎ PowerShotโข Series is designed to meet the rigorous demands of the cleaning pro. Heavy-duty pressure washers with flow and reliability.โ They go on to say how this is a great tool for contractors. And this is why I bought this model - though Iโm only using it around my home, I wanted a product designed to provide long lasting performance, reliability and durability. Well, friends - this isnโt it. After only two years my pressure washer pump has failed; it has water leaking into the pump oil and Simpson Customer Service informed me itโs caused by a leaking seal or piston issue - and these are wear items so they wonโt cover it. The rigorous demands of the cleaning pro is interpreted to mean wearing out after two years is acceptable. Iโm a mechanical engineer and worked for 30 years in the HD diesel engine industry so I am familiar with mechanical products, duty cycles and wear. This product failing at two years is โpremature wearโ especially in light of the relatively light duty cycle itโs experienced. Contractors could not afford to spend money on a product that fails in two years. So if youโre considering a purchase I recommend you save some money and opt for one of the many lower priced options available. Iโve been using a good number of tools from Harbor Freight as of late with good results. Lower priced and performing well โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ Original post: I bought this two years ago and itโs performed well, but yesterday I looked at the sight glass to check pump oil and couldnโt see anything; the glass looked white. So this morning I drained the pump oil and it came out milky white as shown. My understanding is this means water has gotten into the pump mechanism and based on the color and froth - especially after sitting overnight - I donโt think this could be from a little internal condensation, but from a bad seal in the pump. I imagine this would quickly cause damage to the pump, too, so assume warranty service is at minimum a complete rebuild or replacement of pump. Iโve drained and replaced the oil before and it was fine. I emailed customer support this morning on how to obtain warranty service as this should have a 5-year warranty on the pump. I will revisit review after seeing how they respond. Coincidentally - this afternoon I am due to receive a new pump for my old Excell pressure washer with Honda engine. Engine is still fine and pump gave out after more than a decade. And it was an oil-less pump so never had to service it. So by tomorrow sometime I should have that one back up and running with an upgraded pump.

Simpson PS3228-S
Pros - * Lots of power (much more than a car wash pressure sprayer) * Diverse Tips Included * Easy to start * Compact - had the unit shipped to my son-in-law and then I brought it home in the back of my compact station wagon. * Easy on fuel! Cons - * High Pressure relief valve failed 4th time in use, causing pressure to drop significantly. Upon closer examination, high pressure relief valve cap had worked loose, causing o-ring failure. Contacted Simpson - with serial number and Amazon receipt, replacement parts are to be shipping out in 3 days (presently on back-order, due in @ Simpson in 3 days). Other - I purchased a 3/8-diameter 50-ft extension at same time from Amazon and had to get adapters at Home Depot to add the extension hose to the existing hose. I use the unit to de-mud the ATV / prep home for painting / clean sandstone patio / clean driveway - all of which works great! ATV clean-up time is less than half now versus what I was spending at a car wash. Update: Replacement part from Simpson arrived two weeks after it was ordered. They did not send the correct part. After further discussion with Simpson - the part I needed could not be sourced. They said I would have to deliver my washer to a service center in my area (Houston). They listed only two service centers in Houston, one of which would not service anything that didn't come from Lowes. The other service center is in a North Houston suburb. Calling them - I found the complete pump would have to be replaced - taking an estimated 2-3 weeks to receive the pump once ordered. I need to use the unit so I'm back to trying to source the part through researching the actual pump OEM (original Equipment manufacturer). At this point, I'm going to void my warranty and remedy the high pressure relief valve myself. Would I do this again - NO! Update: Ordered parts from less than $20 delivered - actually cheaper than the fuel cost to/from the service center. Update: THIS MODEL IS THE SAME AS DEWART DXPW3228 - you can also find part schematics online for such and order parts from Dewalt.

Simpson PS3228 3300 PSI August 2026
After watching multiple YouTube reviews we decided this Simpson PS3228 3300 PSI was the best fit for our house, shop and pier. It was easy to assemble and came with correct oil. Filled it with ethanol free gas and it cranked in one pull. Made the pier clean up so quick. It was powerful and easy to control. Highly recommend. The extra cost is worth the ease of use.

Dream Machine
Live on a lake in the South, get green algae growing all over the vinyl siding, gutters, and vinyl fence, also have mud dabbers making nests on the stucco, and spiders making nest under the siding and other places. The Simpson Powershot blew it all away, without a cleaner, using the 45 degree tip (lowest power tip, but widest spray pattern) without damaging even the Valspar satin paint on the stucco (heavy duty paint). The spray pattern was as wide as the vinyl siding panels (6") so I only had to make one slow pass. Started up on the first pull! But once it was warm, and I turned it off, and then restarted the choke could not be all the way on (only ~third or less allowed it to start). The spray tips sit in a tray and will pop out when the machine is running in place (vibration drives them out), I only use the 45 degree tip so pulled the rest out. I also added a 72" and 49" extension (together) to get all the way to the peaks (single story home with 10' ceilings), pressure did not drop! They put numbers on the machine at all the key places referenced in the quick start guide to make starting easy. Note the directions say you can not run the motor for more than 2 min. without spraying water (pump will over heat). Feel lucky I got a 3200 PSI machine because that is just what I needed, anything less would be too little power and slow. Got it from Amazon, best price and service. Update 2/15/2013 WARNING! After doing my whole house and part of my Dad's decided to put it into storage for the next year, followed the Honda engine manual and pulled the spark plug (it was tight coming out), put oil in the cylinder head, and then replaced the plug, this is where you need to be very careful, the plug goes in at an angle towards the air filter "not straight in" (look from overhead), I partially miss threaded it, but stopped in time and used a pick to remove the shavings. The first time you do this, I recommend removing the muffler (three bolts) so you can insert the plug in by hand as you look from above to see the angle, the cylinder head threads are soft. First time I have ever miss threaded a spark plug even a little, but without removing the muffler you can not put the spark plug in by hand, and my mistake was to try using a socket extension on the 13/16 socket to put the plug in "the first time". With the muffler on you have to use an extension on the socket. For winterizing the pump, tried using a 16 oz squeeze bottle of G-protector, but could not get the fluid to go in, then tried the Briggs and Stratton pressurized can of pump saver and that worked perfect, and used very little, one 4 oz can should last for 5-6 yrs easy since you only need ~1/2 oz for foam to come out the outlet (it does not fill the pump with fluid, it just coats the inside of the pump with foam).

So far so good!
Assembly was no issue, just purchased and seems to be doing great! Pressure washers are my kryptonite but Iโve seen great reviews of this brand.
