Rousing 2009 two CD collection that features the Regimental Band of the Coldstream Guards performing 45 classic pieces of British, American and European marching music. They are the oldest regiment in the British Regular Army in continuous active service, originating in Coldstream, Scotland in 1650 and part of the Guards Division or Household Division. Metro Doubles.

As British as the queen, and more melodical.
You like brass? You like British Brass? You need a copy of The Coldstream Guards. Crown Imperial - astoundingly beautiful. In fact, twenty four more bravos and you are through CD1. Now the creme de la creme in marches, CD2. It was if they had telepathically chosen my favorite marches and threw in some I had not collected yet. Great listening, makes me wonder if I should have practiced the tuba longer; much longer I should say.

TWO HOURS OF PURE MUSICAL JOY BY THE COLDSTREAM GUARDS
An inspiring and fantastic collection of British, American and European marches performed by Her Majesty's Coldstream Regiment of Guards.True to their regimental motto " Nulli Secundus" (Second to None) - they are, in my opinion, without equal anywhere else in the World. To simply sit and listen to this collection gives one a huge "rush".

Good Variety
This is a very good collection of marching classics. I was mainly after the slow and quick marches of the foot guards, but there is much more than that in this collection. I especially loved We're No Awa To Bide Awa/Scotland the Brave. All music was performed with the precision and quality you'd expect of one of the best bands in the world. I would highly recommend this collection!

Magnificent music
The selections on this CD are selected to represent the different forms of music from several countries all are different. This CD by the Coldstreams is very good. This CD is not the same as the band has produced under LTC Jones, eg. Heroes . Still a good CD with stirring music.

Restrained Band Music Performances
There's lots of symphonic band music on the two disks that come with this set. The performances are very polished, though somewhat restrained. The recording quality is acceptable but could be better.

Second To None
This is a top quality double album from the top quality band of the Coldstream Guards, the oldestcontinuously serving regiment in the British Army and just like their regimental motto, " NulliSecundus", the music played here is second to none.CD1 comprises British marches with my particular favourite being " Les Huguenots " a muchloved part of the repertoire for Trooping the Colour. Here too are the quick and slow marchesof the five regiments of Foot Guards, with other familiar tunes, 21 in all.CD2 comprises American and European marches, such as Semper Fidelis, the ceremonialmarch from 'Aida' and lots more, 24 in all. There is enough music on this album to please most true fans of military music.A very worthwhile purchase.Released in 2009Over 2 hours playing time.

Mindblowing
This double album is not good...nor is it brilliant...IT IS EXCEPTIONAL. The Regimental Band of the Coldstream Guards is true to its motto--Nulli Secundus--SECOND TO NONE. Living in the West Riding of Yorkshire I am very familiar with brilliant Brass Bands and their music. I live within 15 miles of some of the premier bands in the world.Viz John Fosters Black Dyke Mills--Grimethorpe Colliery--and Brighouse and Raistrick ,so I know and appreciate the worlds finest. The playing on these discs deserves to be up there on a pedestal with the very best.Any playing that sends shivers down your neck can be classed as such.It is easily seen why The Coldstreams are given the privelidge of playing at Royal occasions..It`s only a shame London gets all the performances and not "us lot up North". Keep up the good work.

The Best Of The Coldstram Guards
What a fantastic CD. upon hearing the first rate collection of military music by the Coldstream Guards makes you feel proud to be "British" there are some notable favourites on this these two cd's. not only English marches but the the other cd offers you American and European marches as well. all played with triumph and vigour. I truely recommend this cd it is a first class superb recording of the oldest regiment in the English Army. the music of the coldstream guards is known throughout the world. and it is pleasing to know that here in England our military bands still reign supreme whilst our military services are being cutdown owing to goverment cutbacks etc. a truely fantastic cd of great military music very, very highly recommended indeed.

It's marches all the way.
There is nothing like a military band to get your toes tapping especially if it's a top class one like The Coldstream Guards. There are two cds covering British, American and European marches. I always prefer those from the British and European stable (El Abanico was a favourite of King George Fifth) and find Sousa a little over the top and not quite hitting the proverbial mark. This selection will while away many a happy hour. A really good buy at a bargain price.
