Big Hair, Don't Care Kindle Edition

My granddaughter loved reading these books, so I’m gonna keep them coming

As I stated in another review about my granddaughter (10 years old) and her stage of discovering all the different textures of her hair/hair styles, I bought this book to address the awkwardness of her wanting me to talk to her mom (my daughter) about her getting a "perm". At the time, my granddaughter's hair was medium length and thick- yet she was going that that awkward stage of noticing the other girl's hair and styles. Thankfully, I found this book (and a few others) and we had a reading session including questions/answers. Well, I guess the session helped! Although, she always wore braids, ponytails and afro puffs, she appears to be more comfortable with her hair texture and styles. So thankful, there are books that so the beauty of "our hair" and now our girls can avoid that horrible stage of wanting "good hair".

I love this for all the pretty girls who often struggle with their natural hair. This story is beautiful and catchy!

This book is an ode to big hair and big confidence. Lola shines inside and out embracing her natural beauty and style. The illustrations are wonderful and the author in real life is just as amazing.

I am SO GLAD I didn't this time. In the middle of this book, an entire different book is printed. It's called "Mommy and Daddy want to F...." It is HORRIBLE. It explains exactly how to have intercourse in a disturbing rhymey fashion. It references pedophilia. It uses every disgusting analogy or phrase you can think of or hopefully have never heard of. This is NOT a children's book, even though it has illustrations and it rhymes.This awful misprint is not the author's fault. I feel bad leaving a 1 star review, I just don't know how else I can let people know. If you buy this book, beware---look through it before you hand it off to your kids!UPDATE: We were contacted by both Amazon and the Author of this book. Both were very apologetic, supportive, and kind. Amazon requested the book back, and they did a full investigation as to how this happened. They determined it was a single instance misprint, and verified that there were no other misprints. They sent me a correct copy right away. While I wouldn't expect this ever to happen again with this book, my advice is to always scan through (or even better, READ) the books you get for your children before you give them to your children.

Big Hair, Don't Care teaches girls the importance of kindness and self-love. It's refreshing to see the confidence of the main character. This is definitely one of those books that we all needed as kids.

My daughter absolutely loves this book! It’s a lovely book for girls that have beautiful unique hair, it made my daughter love her hair even more.

My daughter and her friend love this book. I’ve had to read it over and over I’m thinking I might soon be reading by heart! I enjoyed the book too as a mum. I love that it’s not only my daughter who can identify with it, I can too and we both love the colourful pages.

I bought this book for a good friend of mine who is Angolan and German and 24 years old! He is really interested in his culture, especially politically and to show him all of my support, even though it's a book for kids, I think he will be very touched! :)

i wish they used several different characters in all shades of skin tones. other than that great book
