Makes great coffee
This coffee pot has a nice retro look and makes great coffee too. It is easy to pour and doesn't drip. The water gauge is easy to see and I like the clear knob on the top. I have used the Presto brand for years, but it wasn't easy to see where the water line was and it was harder to pour out the coffee. This one is much better and for a better price; I hope it lasts for years.

Great coffee pot
If you are trying to get away from plastic, this is the pot to buy!! I followed the directions and the coffee turned out great. My husband loved the coffee ( and that in itself is a feat!) The pot worked exactly as the directions said. It will keep the coffee warm until you turn it off. I must say I am pleasantly surprised.

Good Product, bad delivery
If only USPS could deliver a package to the correct address, that’s on the Amazon label!!! The recipient thankfully delivered my package to me.

Good buy for those concerned about microplastics
This is a pretty good coffee maker, however the coffee I usually buy is an espresso version that leaves grit on the bottom. I now grind the coffee at the grocery store on the percolator setting. I don't really want to use filters due to health concerns. It is a little noisy when it first starts up, but as brewing continues it gets quieter.

Buy it, you will so enjoy the taste!
Love this percolator. We had a drip coffee maker for years, and didn’t realize what we were missing. The coffee is so delicious. It comes out of the pot so extremely hot. It’s a little noisy at the very beginning, when it first starts to,perk, about 30 seconds. BUT that is OK. It’s neat to hear the coffee perking, it reminds me of days gone by with the old aluminum range top coffee pots that my mom had. Oh and the smell of it perking is so good!

Suspect electrical-brewing issues with 'burnt odor' being the symptom
Just as background, I grew up in a household where we used both stove-top and electric percolators for brewing conventional heavy grind retail coffees. I’ll add that I’m also a past member, joining in 2006, of the US Specialty Coffee Association. I maintain a small roasting and commercial brewing counter in my home shop. Coffee and all its brewing gear is my avocation.Wanting to get back to percolator-brewing, we bought this Westbend unit about 38 days ago.About one week ago after having brewed our morning coffee, I smelled what I know as an electrical-insulation burnt-odor and/or a burnt coffee odor. For the first few days I suspected the coffee. To isolate the issue I brewed a few different coffees. Each time there was that same odor combined but overwhelming the coffee aroma. We double-checked the coffee by brewing with my Melitta pour-over system; no odor other than the aroma of the coffee. I then looked at the inside of the percolator and noticed a dark spot, silver-dollar size, near the inside edge of the brewing area. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s a hot-spot, over-heating and either caused by the heating coil element’d proximity to the bottom of the brewing body, and/or the burning of insulation material. Whatever it is, I’m concerned it’s a safety hazard at this time.I never remember my parents, or me in my early adult years, returning any electric percolators. After years of use they usually went to storage only because we wanted the newer designs or larger capacities, not because they failed. But that was in the 60s through the 80s. Unfortunately with what I’ve seen in more recent household appliances, I’m not surprised with quality control issues, but certainly disappointed. I ran a review-search on this percolator and found a number of both ‘burnt odor smell’ issues and even more concerning, negative reports on West Bend’s warranty coverage service. I’ll start by contacting Amazon as we’ve only had the machine for 38 days. Obviously, if your looking for a percolator, I’d highly recommend looking at other percolator options. And specifically, I’d suggest using the Amazon review options/resources to check for related key word issues.

makes good coffee. pour spout is right on. No drips
we are very satisfied with our new electric west bend percolator coffee maker. the only thing that i thought was kind of odd about it is that it is pretty noisy. But that is certainly something that is not going to take away from the good coffee that it makes. we use regular course ground coffee and it brews a richer flavored coffee that we didn't even know we were missing until we started using this coffee pot. The drip coffee maker that we have used for many years just doesn'tstand up. the fact that it takes up less space is also a plus. over all it deserves the 5 stars that we gave it. I want to add another point...we have hard water and the drip coffee maker had to be replaced about every 3 months. so I always bought a cheaper model due to that problem. But with this coffee maker I can run a brush through the stem, clean the inside and clean it thoroughly and not have to replace it every months. that is going to save us about 130.00 a year in coffee pots. I know thats not a lot in the whole picture of everything but it certainly is going to be a lot more convenient.
