ShopSeries RK7240.1 13-Amp 10" Table Saw with Stand

I bought a Rockwell Model 8 saw around 1990, and this saw is that saw upgraded. It uses near the same aluminum tabletop. That tabletop is the best thing about the saw. It doesn't rust. Mine was an open box unit that cost $111 total. It was missing the rip fence handle although the ad said "All accessories are present" but rather than wait and return it I made a handle. I attached 3/4" wood strips to each side of the rip fence and after doing that the rip fence doesn't move in the slightest - rock solid. The wood makes the thing grip really well. Forget about using any of the markings on a saw this cheap. You will always need to set the rip fence with a tape measure, if you don't want that you'll need to spend more money. The whole blade splitter/protector adds more danger than it protects you from so I don't use it. It was inspired by lawyers, not craftsmen. The biggest thing wrong with the saw is that the whole motor sounds very dry like it won't last if it doesn't get some lubrication. I suspect it's the gear on the end of the motor and I'm tempted to open it up and see if it can be greased. That gear is what failed on the similar Model 8 saws.

This item is as good as the price I paid although the 'stand' could use some reinforcement.

My chief complaint is the blade wore out very quickly. The stand will also have to be reinforced or replaced.Additionally, I found that the bevel setting did not hold well at all. After using it less than two months for home use, the bevel setting began to shift about 5 degrees.I contacted Amazon, and I was informed that they would do nothing to help me resolve the issue because it was not covered any longer by them. They told me that it was my problem to figure out a solution and I should just deal with it. However, upon contacting Rockwell, they said they would send out a new tool within 7 to 10 business days. I will get it in less than 5 business days. Rockwell was great to deal with. Amazon however proved their quality of customer service to me. After this experience, my impression is expect nothing from them and you will not be disappointed.

When my little 8" craftsman table saw that I bought for $30 on Craigslist failed to be hefty enough to handle the projects I was doing I decided that I'd look for a new (as in new vs used) saw. For the price I really wasn't expecting it to be perfect, but I wasn't expecting it to be this bad. Many of the other reviews covered my complaints so I won't go into detail, however, I will mention that my biggest complaint is the lack of accuracy with this saw. The fence is cheap and sloppy and the blade is hard to square. Also, the saw is a little bit dangerous as the stand twists and flexes while cutting heavy items. If I had to do it all over again I'd turn to craigslist for a used saw. For what its worth, my 30 year old $30 craftsman is still working perfectly and is usually my go to saw unless the stock is too thick.Update (February 2014): After living and working with this saw for over two years now I can definitely say that I wish I'd spent a little more and bought a better saw. The fence is really sloppy and has become worse with age. The adjustment handles on the fence and the blade height/angle control wheel interfere with one another which becomes really irritating when you want to keep a fence setting and you need to change the height or angle of the blade. The paint is flaking off of the top even though the saw has spent it's entire life in my shop and never seen any moisture or sunshine. The lack of zero clearance inserts for the saw makes precision work nearly impossible on this saw unless you want to fabricate your own.Another thing to note: "Rockwell" is not "Delta Rockwell". Delta Rockwell were manufactured from 1945 until the company was purchased in 1984 by Pentair who rebranded the tools as Delta. Delta tools are, as of January 2011, produced by a Taiwanese power tool manufacturer, Chang Type Industrial Co., Ltd. Rockwell tools (such as this saw) are produced by Positec Tool Group, which started producing tools under the Rockwell name in 2005, there was never any transfer of ownership of the name, they just resurrected a name that had been abandoned.

If this is made by Rockwell then they have gone way down hill from their usual quality. It is made of substandard materials. The switch fell apart the first time I used it (I was able to fix it). The fence doesn't clamp securely, the mitre guide is really flimsy, the knob to adjust the blade angle failed the second time I went to use it. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT.

Came with defective motor connection. Vibration would have short circuited. I am electrically licensed, and fixed it. I contacted seller c/w pictures. He ignored me. I would definitely NOT recommend this seller to ANYONE.
