Great Iron
I did purchase this and found it was not the one I wanted but I like it so I kept it. It is heavier than some of the new ones and a touch smaller but it does iron nicely - the added weight means you don't have to press on the iron - it does all the work! I'm glad I kept it.

One of My Best Purchases Ever
Probably one of my best purchases. I bought this iron 2 year ago and it still works like it’s brand new. My mom even says it’s one of those high-quality things they don’t really make anymore. It’s not heavy, super easy to use, and honestly amazing.

Excellent clothes iron
I enjoy ironing my clothes because I am very particular about details, and this iron is excellent thanks to the substantial weight it applies to the fabric—not to mention its misting feature. I hope it lasts me a long time, as I absolutely love it; it reminds me of the wonderful Russian irons my mother used to use—those things were indestructible! I recommend it 100%.

Rough soleplate, black factory residue
Bought this Black & Decker iron mostly for sewing but also general ironing of clothes. I had a previous iron made specifically for sewing but after less than 2 years it started leaking and the steam button broke, so I started looking for a new one. This Black & Decker one was old school, no frills, heavier weight and I’d heard some good things about it so decided to try. I filled it with distilled water (surprisingly the manual actually suggests regular tap water) and ran it over a scrap piece first, since some reviews mentioned getting black factory residue on the first few swipes. It worked well and produces plenty of steam, with clear guides for which heat settings produce steam and which don’t, and a steam on/off button. Got wrinkles out of cotton canvas no problem with a single pass, and is nice and heavy. I appreciate that it has an auto-shut off if left on its side or soleplate after 30 seconds, or if left standing after 8 minutes. Some cons: • Despite the test piece I did end up getting a black smear on a white t-shirt - I then noticed that there was residue all around the sides of the plate which I had to wipe and scrub off with a paper towel. I really wish they’d cleaned it up better during manufacturing so it would actually be ready to use out of the box. Don’t iron anything important right away and make sure it’s wiped clean! • The sole plate has a visibly bumpy texture to it and doesn’t glide as smoothly as my old iron - I would be a bit worried about ironing delicate fabrics like silk or satin with this that could potentially snag or run. • The cord placement makes it so that that when standing, it gets bent. That’s gonna be a weak point over time. Surely they could have designed that better? • There’s no spray nor manual steam burst option I wanted this because it was no frills but I admit I miss some of the “frills” of my previous irons - for example, the fill tank on this doesn’t have a door to close so if you angle it the wrong way water spills out. My old iron also had a function that beeped to let you know it was still on after a few minutes standing - this one has a light but doesn’t beep so you have to rely on the auto shut-off if you accidentally leave it on. Ultimately I went into this thinking it’d be a great old-school iron but between the factory grease, rough-feeling soleplate, and cord placement I would say this is only $30 for a reason. It's working well and I'll continue using it for now but will probably seek out something nicer in the future.

Great find if you iron and press clothing.
This is as close as I could get to the one I was using for over 50 years. It is heavy and better than the two I bought over the years snd gave away.

Heavy iron
I swe for craft shows and needed a heavier iron, this is it. Just like momma's and grandmas ones when I was little. Great price and great iron. Recommend

Now THIS is an Iron!
I got sick and tired of my overly light iron that I had to overexert myself in order to get difficult creases out (or put difficult creases in) so I came to Amazon and took a chance on this iron. I've been ever so pleased with this iron - it's everything you want in an iron. It heats up quickly, has every bell and whistle a steam iron needs and offers extreme versatility of use and the value is good - you get what you pay for so it's a little higher than similar models with a lighter weight and it's worth that. The weight makes all of the difference in the world when it comes to an iron and I love the weighty feel of this iron - it greatly reduced the work of ironing some items for me. I'm very glad I bought it. It comes in black, it has a good water capacity for steam use, and the balance feels wonderful in your hand when you're ironing - this is an important feature that is missing from your lighter models. I highly recommend this product.

LOVED and Then it Broke 7 Months Later
I loved this iron. I wanted a heavyweight iron without a lot of bells and whistles/digital controls. SIMPLE. I iron a lot but when I do it’s usually cotton or linen so I didn’t want a zillion settings. It worked great. Great weight. Simple operation and ironed just great. Today while ironing some cotton pillow cases, while ironing I noticed that it wasn’t ironing well. I had spritzed the fabric with water and the setting was near high as I usually do - but I ran my hand on the fabric and it wasn’t even warm. The sole plate was not even warm. I unplugged it, switched the temperature dial up and down…checked my outlet. Nothing made it work. I purchased this January 1, 2024 and today is August 22, 2024. I bought the Black and Decker brand as I thought that it stood for quality. I was obviously past the Amazon return date but in my Order information Amazon had conveniently supplied a link to Troubleshooting (it asked you to turn it off and wait for 2-3 hours and try again. No luck and what a pain). Amazon also offered Product Support website and phone number. It’s after hours so I submitted a request. I will come back to update my review once it is resolved. I am hoping I don’t have to jump through any more hoops than what I had to include in the submission and they just replace it. Aaaaaand…the ironing will not get done for a bit. :-(
