Whole Spice Crushed Epazote Leaves, 4 Ounce

I looked EVERYWHERE for Epazote leaves! I have never used Epazote leaves before, but I had a Guatemalan recipe that called for it (Pulique) and wanting to make it as authentically as possible, I went on the hunt! Our Mexican market was out of stock, and so was our international market. The Spicely brand had a lot of bad reviews and was a tiny, tiny amount. so I was really pleased to find this affordable Whole Spice brand of Epazote. This is a LOT of Epazote. I'm going to have to find some more recipes to use it in (evidently it is terrific added to beans) Now, if it was only organic - it would be perfect!

I was looking for less gas in my bean soup but was disappointed. Perhaps I should use more of the herb. It does lend a taste when added which I rather enjoyed on one use. I look forward to my next tasteful adventure.

There is no substitute in some mexican recipes. Use with a light hand and add that special flavor.

I have a pestle and mortar but this is soooo much more convenient for when I'm making homemade chili or beans.

I use these with my eggs every morning. Also very helpful in black beans, and other gas producing foods. Highly recommend!
