Outstanding Compact Binoculars
Many of my comments from this review come from a direct, hands-on comparison of three sets of compact 10x25 binoculars, The Alpen PRO, the Olympus Tracker (both purchased here), and my Minolta Compact binoculars that I've been using for years. Out of the 3, the Alpens are my least favorite. Yes, the 6.5 degree wide angle viewing is more than the 5.0 on the Minolta and the 5.3 degree of the Olympus, but I found some less desirable traits with the Alpen. First, I found it more difficult to get the eye pieces exactly the right distance apart to create a single image than the other two binoculars. Also, and probably most annoying, the close focal distance seemed to be about double the listed length of 12 feet. I could VERY easily focus on items 10-15 feet away with the Olympus and Minolta binoculars, but I could not come anywhere NEAR focusing on those items with the Alpen. Maybe this won't be an issue when looking off the deck of a ship at something, but it certainly make the binoculars less flexible in their use. The ridged hand grips on the Alpen binoculars didn't fit my hands well, there was no adjustable eye relief, no lens caps, and a cheap feeling canvas case. The optics are crystal clear so no complaints there, and once I got them focused they didn't wander. I would have returned these binoculars if I paid more than $50 for them, but for something that claims to be waterproof, plus provide a slightly wider field of vision, I think I'm going to keep them as a third, slightly different, set in my binocular arsenal. The Olympus Trackers were my favorite of the three, and the $20 more I paid for these versus the Alpen is money very well spent. The eye pieces (which have caps), rotate out to provide a much deeper eye relief, making it much easier to focus these binoculars. The optics are perfect, and adjustments easy to make. The Trackers are less bulky and the sleek silver body makes them much more refined looking than the Alpen (which looked like something you take in the woods). I was able to pick these up and adjust them to my preferences in half the time it took for the Alpen PRO's, and as icing on the cake, the streamlined, padded plastic case is far more attractive than the basic canvas case of the Alpen.Overall, I rate the Olympus Tracker my favorite out of these three. All had excellent optics for a compact binocular, but the Olympus was easier to use, felt better, and looked better overall. Consider the Alpen if you're looking for something that's weather resistant and with a slightly larger viewing angle, but if these are not important features, the Olympus Trackers will be a much better choice at a similar price.

A very good piece of glass for the price range!
This is my first pair of binoculars for my birding hobby. I was looking something on my budget and easy to use. This bino really fits the bill! It is lightweight, compact and images are very sharp, and it is easy to focus. Like it very much!

Wish I had not ordered these
I cannot use these.I wanted a 10x knockabout pair for the car. My "go-to" 10x70 Fujis are too heavy and bulky for that duty.I fiddled a long time with focus, diopter and intraocular adjustments, and there is *no* sweet spot for me. Even if I stand stock-still in a wind-free place with the "best" adjustment I could perform, I spend maybe 10 per cent of the time getting a binocular image. Even then, edge distortion and blackout are considerable. Opening or closing the eye-cup extensions (which have poor level of friction, much too easy to open or close) doesn't assist the very fussy eye relief of this optic. As I cannot return them and have nobody I sufficiently hate to fob these off [on] as a gift, I own a useless pair of binos. Cannot recommend.

One Happy Birder
I ordered these binos to replace my old pair that I accidentally dropped. I was looking for something a little stronger in power and great for backyard birding. I first purchased a pair of Bushnell 8x40 Birding Binos. I was very pleased with the quality and sturdiness of them. The only problem is that they were comparatively big and heavy. I weighed my old, broken pair and they were about 16 oz. The Bushnell set was wider, longer and weighed about 26 oz. I didn't even bother to check the weight before ordering, assuming they would be similar in size and weight to my old pair. You'd be amazed at how much an extra 10 oz matters when you hold binos for any extended period of time. I also thought about how big and heavy they would be around my neck or carrying them in a backpack out in the field, along with my big camera. I ended up returning the Bushnells and getting this Olympus set (only 9.9 oz!) which I am very pleased with. I actually kept the Bushnells until after I received the Olympus set so I could compare them head to head over a few days. The image is a little smaller on these but the weight and size worked much better for me. If you are looking for a good, inexpensive, lightweight and compact set of binos, you can't go wrong with these. Happy birding, everyone!Note: the Amazon return process was easy and extremely fast. I mailed them back yesterday and my credit was processed today!

Compact but powerful
I got these for my husband for his birthday so he would have them for our trip to Hawaii. They have worked out great! They are small so easy to carry and are pretty powerful! My husband is pretty picky about gifts like this and he was quite pleased and we now take them on all our trips!

Opympus Tracker
Bought these for my wife to take on a gargoyle tour of the National Cathedral. She fell in love with them. She likes the light weight, ease of focus and the clarity, even with low light. I’ve owned other makes for camping, hunting and backpacking but I must admit I’m surprised and very pleased with this units’ performance and quality.

Beautifully made, but one big flaw -- they do not open wide enough for some users (like me)
I was delighted with these binoculars for the first few seconds. They look great. They feel great to hold. The are lightweight. They are well made. However, when I started to use them I found out they have a huge design flaw as far as I am concerned: when opened out to the widest position the distance between the center of the two eyepieces is only 70mm, whereas my pupillary distance is 74mm -- at the top end of the normal adult-male range, but not unusual. This makes the binoculars impossible for me to use as I can only see the full field of view in one lens or the other, never both together. Most binoculars open up to about 76mm. So, check your pupillary distance before considering buying these. If it is more than about 70mm then you are likely to have the same difficulty as me.

Great Optics, Clarity, Comfort and Convenience!
I chose the Olympus Tracker 10x25 compact binoculars for the following reasons: In my experience, Olympus optics are always bright, clear & sharp ~ Extendable eye relief cups provide greater comfort compared to the Nikon Travelite VI 10x25 model I've used ~ Multi-coated lenses plus UV protection for your eyes is an important benefit ~ reasonable price for Olympus qualityA quality built set of compact binoculars for active people, travellers, sporting events, sightseeing, birding, people watching etc...The 10 x magnification brings you closer to your subject matter without becoming too magnified that hand shake becomes a problem. Focus is quick and easy with the focus ring mounted on top. A right side diopter adjustment ensures both eyes will be in focus. Eye relief is excellent with convenient twist out eye cups. Lens are multi-coated and come with UV protection for your eyes. These binoculars come packaged with simple instructions in 8 languages, a handy adjustable nylon neck strap, two individual rear lens covers and a custom fitted and lined neoprene case with a water resistant exterior finish.Recommended

Ansonsten wirklich empfehlenswert.

Olympus 10 x 25 PC I Silver Binoculars
I wasn't sure whether to go for the Olympus 8 x 25 PC I Silver Binoculars or the Olympus 10 x 25's. After reading the reviews and the fact that I wanted them for general use rather than bird watching, I decided on the Olympus 10 X 25's and not the 8 X 25's. I have to say that I have not been disappointed with my decision.I have a pair of bins that I bought some 30 years ago but they have seen better days, although they still work ok. I compared my old bins which are 12 X 50, with the Olympus 10 x 25 PC I Silver Binoculars and the Olympus 10 X 25's beat my 12 X 50's hands down. Even though the Olympus 10 x 25 Binoculars are X 25, they give a much brighter image than my old X 50's, this probably says more about how poor my old bins are.The Olympus 10 x 25's are outstanding and the view is pin sharp and bright. From Hampstead Heath in London, I could easily see the Wrotham radio mast in Kent which is 27 miles away, also I could read the name on the Shard which is being built near London Bridge and which will eventually be the tallest building in London. These are great Binoculars for the price and they also come with a nice soft leather feel carrying case.I can highly recommend the Olympus 10 x 25 PC I Silver Binoculars and you won't be disappointed if you buy them.
