It has its uses
Version 3 came out not too long after I purchased version 2 and so I upgraded. However, this review really pretty much covers both products.I'm an optimistic skeptic when it comes to claims that listening to sounds will increase my concentration, help me sleep better, etc. By skeptic I mean that on some level my mind tells me that these claims are the the patent medicine claims of the early 1900's. Drink this and it will cure whatever ails you.On the optimistic side I'm hoping that there is a miracle cure all that will work to cure whatever ails us. In the case of brain entrainment there's just enough science that makes many of the claims believable and maybe possible.I've listened to hours of hypnotic tapes (both guided and subliminal) and listened to hours of CD's related to brainwave entrainment which is what the Neuro-Programmer product is based on.An advantage to using this product versus entrainment CD's is that this theoretically does what theirs does, but is much less expensive and certainly much more customizable (i.e. change the length of time it plays, include a different set of background sounds, music, etc.)With Neuro-Programmer, if you want to add subliminal comments you can record them in your own voice and include them in whatever session you want to play, or you include pre-existing mp3's (and some other audio types) and play them as background.Version 3 has a different interface and a few more options than Version 2 that let you fine tune the "experience". Start up of the software is a bit slow and it's not the easiest program to understand (at least not for me) when it comes to some of the settings. There are many that I don't mess with. The one's I have used are recording "affirmations" that can be played in the background. I've also included a few mp3's of music that complement the sounds. One thing that seemed to change from Version 2 to Version 3 was the ability to keep a certain set of affirmations with a session. In Version 3, whatever affirmations you have selected become the same set you have to use for all sessions unless you want to spend the time changing them around which can become tedious. The interface, in that regards, could use some streamlining to make it easier for the user to make changes.I mostly use this at night before I go to sleep and I've found that it does help me to get my mind off work. I use pillow-speakers because headphones didn't work for me. I'm single so I can get away with it. If you have a significant other you may want to do the sessions during non-bedtime hours because not everyone will appreciate the sounds required to make you relax.. etc. I think the first time I heard one of the sessions it reminded me of a helicopter blades going at high speed. So, after using this for several months, am I smarter, more decisive, thinner, sleeping better, attracting more dates, and no longer procrastinating?I'm not sure but I'll be sure to get back to you on this later just as soon as I finish this cake, take a nap, and.. well.. as soon as I can get around to it.Of course, your mileage may vary.
