Really nice jib for the money
For the price it's hard to beat. I also bought the stand and the carrying case and everything zips up quite nicely and isn't too heavy to carry. Setup is really quick and easy even with one person. I found that with the extension arm attached and no camera on the end I needed around 17.5lbs of weight (two 7.5's and a 2.5) to get a nice balance, so there's a good starting point for your efforts. With their stand and mount I'm finding that there is not enough pan drag. Will probably add some cork shims or something else to slow it down a bit.Really nice little jib.

A good jib, but needs improvements.
I have this jib. What I like about it, is the ability to set up, and tear down without tools. I also like the auto / manual tilt feature. The load boom is quite stoutly constructed. What I don't like, is the 8th inch thick uprights for the arm's main support at the pivot. I would really like to see at least quarter to half inch thick uprights to hold the arm with. Also, the quarter inch thick camera mount is way too thin, and even with a 6 pound camera, the jib arm gets slightly twisted by at least 5 degrees, forcing one to place a shim under one leg of the tripod, and then another when the arm is moved enough to require moving the shim. As with the DVC500, and other professional jibs, I would really like to see the camera mount placed at the center line of the arm, and well in front of the arm, too.I would have felt better had the jib been shipped WITH the cable support system. As it is, you're barely able to fly a light camera load without arm twisting problems.UPDATE: as of Dec 2012, I found out about the DVC210 which features a DSLR specific camera mount, which takes the crane into the 9 to 10 pound payload capability. So I bought a DSLR Camera mount, along with the extension plate for it, and not only am I now able to fly slightly heavier payloads, but the new mount, being mounted directly along the jib arm's center line eliminates a problem exhibited by side-slung mounts in which the camera's weight would cause several degrees of dutch angling. So, if you get the 210, but want more performance, just order the camera mount from ProAm, and you'll be good to go. :)

Wish i had it back in Film school.
A great and sturdy crane. It arrived with some minor cosmetic wear (scratches and small dents on the corners etc.) But if you plan taking it out in the field scratching it is un-avoidable anyway so that didn't bother me at all. Its a very well built affordable crane and looks like it will last a lifetime. Goes perfect with a nice pan and tilt head. It took me only 6 minutes to assemble it without taking a single look at a manual. The way its engineered and the setup process is "idiot proof". Even if i had experience with more complex cranes i did not use any tools at all during the setup, not even a single screw driver you so if you are specially a one man band consider that so you don't end up searching for a screw driver in the middle of a shoot. It will be up and running in minutes. I have also bought the monitor arm and the stand separately so bear that in mind. It arrived well packaged by UPS and the separate pieces were all together in the same box (stand and monitor arm). What you should notice is that there are two different brands of cranes on Amazon, Proaim and Proam which i didn't know. I actually ordered Proam accidentally as i was going for the Proaim first but to be honest it looks better than the one i was planning to buy so i am quite glad i've done that mistake. Regarding integrity compare to the Proaim i have no idea as i am not an engineer to know but definitely it looks prettier and sterdier in my opinion and everyone who knows me knows that i am not impressed easily. I also don't expect more quality than what i pay for but this crane exceeded my expectations and made me a happy buyer. It has smooth descents and ascents and smooth pan and tilts. I have bought the extra 4ft extender also so it goes pretty high actually compare to the fact that is the smallest crane i have. Oh, and I really don't like to see people buying a piece of equipment and giving it a bad review just because they don't know how to use it. Learning to use a Jimmy jib takes some experience and practice so before leaving a bad review about a product think twice.

For the $$ this is a great option
After researching different brands of camera cranes, I chose this one for its ease of breakdown and assembly, its manual or auto-tilt function, its price, and the overall good reviews I read about it. After opening it up and playing with it for a while, I am completely satisfied in my purchase. Smooth pan and tilt and very quick and easy assembly. Unless you have a sturdy enough fluid head, you will want the extra bearing mount that costs $60 at the moment. Otherwise you will not be able to pan on a standard tripod mount very easily. This is a great product.

Great Jib and not just for the price.
I was debating if I should buy this jib or one by Kessler Crane. And I am so glad I bought this one. It is built solid and works like a charm. I will take the money I saved and buy a dolly track system as well. I will definitely consider ProAm for all my future Film gear purchases. I highly recommend this product! If you are debating between models pull the trigger on this one you will not regret it.

So glad I bought this. Worth every penny
This is great! Love it! So glad I bought this! I currently own a 4ft, 6ft, and then this one, 8ft with 4ft extender to make 12ft. It's nice to have the variety when shooting indoor crane work and outdoor crane work. This one does require two people to put together and to take it down. as it is very large. I also recommend having a saw horse to rest it on when putting the camera and weights on it, otherwise it will rest on the ground until you get it evenly weighted and balanced.

Best quality at the Best Price. I highly recommend this product for anyone that is into filming.
I give this ProAm DVC200 Camera Jib Crane 5 stars because this product has such a strong quality and it is super smooth. I am so amazed with the numerous possibilities that you can create with the 360 degree mobility and having the amazing height of 12 feet in Total length. I highly recommend that you spend a little extra to get the extra 4 ft extension. Because 12 feet gives you so much more amazing shots. I love this product!
