Expect spot weld failure where duct flange attaches to damper box
When I bought this fan I had expected some problems mentioned in other reviews. They were accurate, the duct flange welds for the damper box all separated. I drilled pilot holes and reattached with sheet metal screws. That said, put screws in first before you do anything with the damper boxes, even if you feel the welds are good! The fan itself is good, not to difficult to install in the attic and wiring is not a problem if you are familiar with with some electrical DIY. I wired mine with parallel switches in two different bathrooms. The damper boxes and fan are made for 6” ducts. I opted to use 4” on both bathrooms to 6” suction side of fan (two 4” to 6”duct connector and one 4” to 6” Wye duct connector). Fan exhaust I did 6” duct to roof exhaust vent.

Avoid! Every component in this product was faulty
While this company generally has a good reputation, this product purchased from Amazon was extremely poorly manufactured. When the item first arrived, one of the collars on one of the two fan housings was broken off right out of the box. The spot welds on the sheet metal failed in transit. I spoke with a support representative at Fantech who kindly send a replacement fan housing. After waiting two weeks, I installed the replacement housing and it worked as expected. As I went to install the second fan housing, the spot welds on THAT collar failed as well. Another call to support, another two weeks, another replacement part that worked as expected. Once installation was complete, I flipped the switch to turn the fan on and, yup, you guessed it, the fan didn't work either. As a mechanical engineer who manufactures products for a living, this is an embarrassingly bad experience. Unless you're willing to wait many many weeks for a series of replacement parts, I'd avoid buying this product (at least from Amazon). The only redeeming quality of this experience was responsive customer support that sent replacement parts as quickly as they can, but that doesn't make up for extremely poor quality.
