Bushnell Legend Ultra HD Roof Prism Binocular

Prior to purchase I read most if not all reviewer comments both pro and con. Having considerable experience with many Bushnell optics such as rifle scopes, range finders, trailcams and other Bushnell binoculars, I wasn't very concerned with the quality and ordered a Legend Ultra HD 10x42. Some of the reviewers main complaints seem to be the locking ring and center focus wheel slop (take up) as well as it's stiffness when adjusting focus. In 12 days, I turn 69 and have arthritis in both hands and I have no trouble at all in manipulating the focus wheel and I also have zero slop......When you move the knob, the focus is immediate and reversing direction it's still immediate. As to the locking ring, for the right ocular lens.....it wasn't broken when I received it and I've locked and unlocked it several times and it still works and hasn't broken as of this writing. The lens' in this binocular in my opinion make it worth every dollar I paid and then some. This instrument is comfortable for prolonged use bright and crisp as binoculars costing twice as much as these or more. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to a friend. How long will they last? Who knows....I have 5 pairs still in use throughout the family some of them forty years old. Like my cameras, I don't let children play with mine as toys (that's what 12 or 15 dollar units are for), I don't throw them on the ground and I do wear them around my neck. Unless I'm sitting or lying on the ground. I don't think I need say it but I will....I like mine a lot and say go for it. I use mine several times a week just checking the wild life out. Send 'em back to Amazon if your not satisfied. UPDATE: Well it's been three quarters of a year of very frequent use and I still have NO issues with this binocular. Adjustments are still precise with NO parts falling off or any breakage of any kind.

I've read through a lot of reviews before buying these glasses. The thing I saw most as a downside was that the image got a little blurry towards the edges but I figured if there's something near the edge of the image that you need to see more clearly then you can turn your head that way and see it! I had a chance recently to buy a set of Steiner's on discount for $100 but they were 10x26. I almost pulled the trigger. I just knew I needed something a little more powerful so I waited. Last year a buddy and I hiked about a 1,000 yards through some grueling terrain, up and down a steep gorge, just to get to a herd of deer that we thought were elk! I said, "never again"!! I'm getting some good binoculars!!! Well, I just sat on the patio looking through these things and I've got to say I'm super pleased by how nice they are. The right eye focus knob is a little hard to turn but not a big problem like others seemed to view it. They came in a great case that holds the binoculars and shoulder straps (which I haven't tried yet). I've been researching binoculars for awhile now and the "better" ones are outta my budget so was I stoked when I saw these on the Deal of the Day for $169! I really checked them out before pulling the trigger to buy them. I went to different sites and read a bunch of reviews. Seemed liked most peoples gripes were about the hard to turn right eye focus knob and the blurry peripheral vision. I thought for $169... if I didn't like them, I could probably sell them to someone else for more than I paid and keep looking for better ones. Well, I don't need too. These things are great! I've used friends' Nikon, Leica and Zeiss binoculars before and honestly, for the price I paid... I think I'm going to be able to see the same game they are but leave a few hundred bucks in my pocket! 3-17-14 Just took these bad boys out to check out some wild life right outside Yellowstone and was thoroughly impressed with the clarity of these binoculars. I looked at whitetail deer, mule deer, big horn sheep and elk. A herd of elk was about 1,500 yards away and I could see them clearly. Well worth the money!

First - don't order the Bushnell binocular harness package that is offered - it is included with the binoculars!! (Amazon, you should remove this package option!) Secondly - I am a docent at a seaside California state park and I use these often in all weather conditions. Had to have waterproof/fogproof. I just bought and received my 2nd pair of these, the first pair I have owned for about 7 years. I am not surprised they won the Binoculars of the Year award in 2012. They have made many improvements in the product design and have a nicer case and include the cool harness, and other extras. These binoculars are excellent and every one I lent the old pair to is impressed. I often get asked for info on what type they are. My first impression of these is that they are even better for viewing than the first pair, and with all of the upgrades, it makes sense. They are not too heavy, I didn't want to hike with a lot of extra weight. I use them to view wildlife, on the beach or at sea, and I use them for bird watching as well. A respected mentor had told me long ago that the 10x42 size is very good for birdwatching, and I agree. Due to sand getting into the eyecups from the blowing wind, etc. and me lending them to tourists who tend to be too rough with adjusting the eyecups (I will lend no more! ;-) I have sent my first pair into Bushnell for repair twice. They are very good, and usually a very quick turnaround time, with reasonable prices and excellent customer service by phone. I highly recommend these binoculars, I will be loyal to Bushnell forever!

11/2016 update. I have been with these binoculars now for two years. I have taken them on vacations and two hunting trips. On vacations they always worked nicely and since they were not too expensive I didn't overly worry about forgetting them somewhere or getting them stolIen. I don't like the edge to edge clarity on these guys but that's only when I'm bored and nitpick. They are a nice size, strong, inexpensive and have great glass. But I purchased these for hunting and nothing else. The first year I took them hunting , I walked 4 miles and had them around my neck for about 8 hours. They got uncomfortable under those conditions but they worked fantastic even in the dark and in the rain. On my second year / hunting trip , I was disappointed because the glass fogged up. Because I was wearing a face mask it appeared that whenever I brought them to my eyes the glass closest to the mask would fog up making them useless. After several hours , the sun was up and the glass didn't fog anymore. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Very good and worth the money. Before I purchased these binoculars I shopped around for about a year. I eventually went into West Marine and looked through their binoculars. They had west marine brand and Steiners as well, I was not impressed at all. Maybe because of the huge price tag but whatever the reason when I looked through them at the store out the window I was not impressed at all. When I got these I was impressed. I am not saying that they are better because I would not be surprised at all if the $500 Steiners are better but what I am saying is that every single time I look through these $200 binoculars i am impressed. Every time! I viewed images out to about 400 yards and they work great. I'm sure when I get a chance to take them hunting for the first time they will be my best friend! Next to my rifle of course. I was also worried about 10x being to strong but no way, it's great. If I was in a wooded area where all I could see is 100 yards I would not want binoculars anyway. Past that 10x is fine. I even used them in the dark and they were fine! I didn't expect that. 8x should be better in the dark. I think these are great for anyone who needs small binoculars without sacrificing performance. I feel if you go smaller you will lose performance. I don't know how to explain the quality of the image but the way I did it was I looked at an object far away and I could clearly see the screws holding the object in place. Also when looking at animals the colors were great. If u look at my photo below you can see the difference between my 7x50s and the Bushnells. Hope this helps u make a decision.

This must be one of the best value for money bins out there, optics are fantastic, super sharp and clear image. Good performance in low light conditions. The overall feel of this Bushnell is fine, but not superb by any means. For example the lens caps are nowhere near a snug fit, so you have to be really careful not to loose them on the go when you carry these binoculars on your neck. The strap for the case is very cheap looking as well, but the strap for the binocular is of excellent quality and very comfortable. There is a binocular harness included in the packaging too along with a cleaning cloth for the optics. Carry case is very well made, a mesh pocket in the case is able to hold all the accessories so you have everything with you when you need it. The diopter adjustment feels a bit flimsy but once you will get it adjusted and you will lock it in place you will not touch it anytime soon. Final words, outstanding optics for very competitive price, with very good but not superb feel to them. Does what it says on the tin and for 250 USD you honestly can not ask for more from a pair of binoculars. In my opinion there is no point shelling out a fortune for a pair of binoculars if you can get these and enjoy a fantastic crisp image with true colors. The retail price in Europe is more than 500 Euro so do not hesitate and get yourself a pair, you will not regret it.

Look through these binoculars and see a bright, sharp image. They're comfortable to hold, not heavy for full size binoculars, the hinge and focusing wheel feel comfortably snug and adjust smoothly--a very solid build. I stopped by a local reservoir to observe some ducks on the opposite side, hooded mergansers; a terrific view with these, no struggle making out field marks. Everything was picture perfect. Buy these for very reasonably priced nature observation or hunting glass; you may never find the need to upgrade. Buy them for a second pair; I don't know if your top of the line firsts can be that much better. I'd be interested to read a review from someone who tested them opposite Swarovskis, Leicas, or others of that ilk. I'm going to look if someone already has. Since purchasing, besides casual use I took these with me on a Christmas bird count, out in the field for 8-1/2 hours or so. I remain very pleased. Also, swapping binoculars briefly with other birders, I had a casual look through older pairs of Nikon Monarchs, and Bausch and Lomb Elites (now a Bushnell model). I'd have to spend more time with other binoculars to see if I could tell the difference with higher priced glass. Also, over time, I will see how durable these prove to be.

The Binoculars feel good in your hands, and I was able to use them without my glasses even though I wear trifocals with vision correction for farsightedness, dashboard, and computer screen viewing. I was concerned after reading the booklet on line that they might be difficult for my grandson to adjust, in my trial run I just used to focus knob in the center to get great vision...so it is simple enough to focus, and there are settings to refine viewing even further. I like that the eyepieces have a cover that can stay attached to the eyepiece (hanging down) lessening the probability of losing them. The viewing lenses cover has a flexible bridge between each cover, a one piece deal making them less likely to get lost as well. I was looking a a model of Bushnell that was $100 less, but with the current rebate of $100. it's a no brainier to get the better pair. I would like to clear something up, there is NOT a harness included in this purchase. After hearing review after review of positive comments about the Bushnell Legend binoculars I decided to buy them. I was not disappointed at all. I compared the Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 10x42's to my seven year old Leupold Cascade 10x42's and I can honestly say that in daylight, the Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 10x42's were far better, simply because it seems that they have better glass. Everything I looked at in the daylight with the Bushnell's was vivid and crisp, whereas the Leupold Cascade's seemed slightly duller. When comparing them at dusk, I found that the Bushnell's were only slightly better,...but still better. Now I don't mean to knock Leupold,... I really like their products, but these Bushnell binoculars are a great pair of binoculars and perform much better than their price. To anyone who is considering buying a new pair of binoculars, look no further. Buy these, you will not be disappointed. And btw, they also come with the bushnell binocular harness which I think normally costs 20 dollars. UPDATE: Well, after two years of barely using these binoculars, with the exception of two Midwest hunting trips, the focus ring has become loose and will have to be sent in for repairs. That's unacceptable for a pair of binoculars in the $200 range. What a huge disappointment. So apparently, Bushnell spent most of their money on higher quality glass but skimped on build quality with the cheap plastic focus ring. And I'm not the only one that has had this problem. Both, my friend and his girlfriend's Bushnell a Legend 10x42's have the same problem of the focus knob becoming loose and difficult to turn. What a shame Bushnell. Please test your binoculars before putting them on the market! Now I get to see what kind of "warranty" I have with these things. I'm not looking forward to having to send these in for repairs.

Excellentes qualités optiques, elles sont très lumineuses et plutôt légères pour cette gamme de produit. Les finitions sont propres et belles. Le rendu est excellent pour un prix restant raisonnable. Je les utilise principalement lors de mes ballades en montagne pour l'observation des bouquetins, chamois et autres marmottes. Les accessoires inclus sont de très bonne qualité. Le packaging comprend : une sacoche, une bandoulière, un chiffon de nettoyage, une notice d'utilisation ainsi que des caches œilletons. Produit utilisé régulièrement depuis plus de deux ans. ho aspettato un po' a recensire per testarlo. Ottimo binocolo davvero, è un po' pesante però la qualità dei materiali è buona e le lenti molto buone. E' molto luminoso anche la sera o la mattina presto con poca luce, 10x è un po' al limite d'uso senza cavalletto perchè tende a "tremare" però si vede benissimo, sia visione di animali che di oggetti. Sono molto soddisfatta dell'acquisto. La confezione contiene una custodia in tessuto morbiso, custodia impermeabile, laccio per il collo. L'unica pecca sono i tappi coprilente che potevano essere fatti meglio, per il resto perfetto!
