Q: what are the dimensions?

Base footprint is 9 inches length by 6 inches width by 2 inches height. Adding the roll of paper enlarges the total envelope to: 12 inches total length, no change in width and 3 inches total height.A great small desktop calculator. I'm very pleased with the functions and performance.

Q: does it use thermal paper or what type of ink does it need?

it uses standard paper rolls and for ink it uses a mini ink roller cartridge,...it comes with one already built in,...i cant estimate how long it lasts but i bought mine 4-5 months ago, and with regular use, it shows no signs of depletion so far....nice red and black numbers very readable...!!

Q: Is it quite when using the tape?

Not quiet, but have used ones that are louder. The printer delay is minimal compared to many comparable machines, so it doesn't throw off my keying rythym to bad.
