So fabulous love it
One of my favorite kids movies ever. Loved it so much I recreated the table with the Queen and had dinner with 4 of our grand children.Watched the Movie then proceeded to the queens dinner. Please understand that I cannot be helping it, if I sometimes is saying things a little squiggly. The meal consisted of BFG vegetable stew, strawberries with whip cream dessert, cucumber slices on rye bread. Dahl’s Chicken salad sandwiches, gold glitter cupcakes, Frobscottle to drink, I found glass bottles at hobby lobby with the metal clamps and used sparkling Lemon lime ice for the drink. The table was set with clear crystal dinnerware, white linen napkins, gold plastic silverware and of course, tea.I hung gold stars dangling from the ceiling. Found a 70's standing candle holder that had a gold globe under the base, used that for the crumpet. A large green vase worked perfect for BFG frobscottle. Found a silver glittery large crown at hobby lobby, was suppose to be a tree topper, but worked perfect for table decor. Couldnt find a barbie doll read sweater, so I swiped a read sweater from a snowman we had laying around. Made their ears from elf Christmas hats I found at dollar tree-took the felt ears off and glued them to litl girl hairbands. Whoopie cushions on the chairs worked great for whizzpopping - heheTheir take home bags consisted of: Made glittery phizzwizards jars {pinterest},dream jars with little notepads to create their dreams. Copy of BFG bookFound sheets on internet- how to make your own Dahl words. It was a great time, Just makin memories. I is trying my very best all the time.

Run away with Steven Spielberg's "The BFG"
It never ceases to amaze us how creative and enchanting Steven Spielberg's storytelling can be. This is especially true with his movie version of The BFG. He captures the innocence of childhood and the power of friendship in this delightful tale that is by turns touching, heartfelt, and hilarious. If your family is looking for a sweet fantasy that is charming, endearing, and perfect for kids of all ages, you can't go wrong with this one. It is flawlessly acted and beautifully filmed.

Amazon prime video
I purchased this to watch on Amazon prime, DVDs are no longer needed. When I first watched this movie, I was very happy to become a child again. I was laughing and surprised at how wonderful the story line was so believable. This has all the earmarks of the shows I used to watch when I was a kid. They aught to make more shows like this. When a show such as this makes me laugh and cry, I forget about the bad aspects of real life..... being it is only temporary. Show this movie to all your families,,,, just an idea. Have fun.

Fantastic book
Story is timeless, written by author, who wrote :“ Charlie and the chocolate factory“, “ James, and giant peach“, and many more. Recommend highly!

Good movie but not one I'd put on my "see it again" list
We watched this movie as a family and I thought it was good though a little drawn out and boring at times. My 7 year old daughters watched it with me and they enjoyed it as well; though they were afraid a few parts would be scary and even walked away at a few. It's a good movie overall with a nice message, but it gets ridiculous in a few places and I don't think it's one of those movies we'd watch again and again.

Delivers a lot --- for kids
Definitely a kids' film, so my outer adult was sometimes wanting some scenes to hurry up. Artwork was great. Plot fairly trite considering. Some knots left untied. Not nearly as thrilling as the trailer led me to expect. Acting was aces.Yet, I was strangely moved when BFG got his cred -- didn't see it coming.Won't watch for a goodly time to make sure it's as fresh as possible for the 2nd viewing. Lots of details to pause and gander at next time.

Absolut empfehlenswert.

Mark Rylance was again exceptional !!
We originally bought the movie for our 5 year old but decided to view it first. I am glad we did as we did feel parts of the movie were dark and scary for a 5 year old. We will wait until he is 6 or 7.Personally as an adult I was keen to watch this movie not only because I loved the book as a youngster but because if the casting of Mark Rylance as BFG - one of the greatest artists , actors alive - I would almost say geniuse he is that good. Those who dont believe me watch one of his productions or watch him live on stage or the movie "Bridge of Spies" !He did not let me down - he was exceptional and made BFG worth a watch.the BFG is symbolic of an author, of Roald Dahl himself: The BFG was of course always an author, even before he was literate; his medium was the dream, and he used dreams to tell stories to bring joy to children. He gave these dreams as protest, resistance, and counterattack to the consuming violence of his nine awful brothers. The BFG’s nine awful brothers are symbolic of all the threats to our children that exist in this dark world and its crowded halls of terrors and sharp-toothed nightmares: Our love and care for our children is shaded and intensified by an understanding of their fragility, their mortality, their susceptibility to disease, accident, chaos, the carelessness of others…factors easily metaphorized into child-eating giants. Our love for our own children precludes an equal love for children who are not our own, despite whatever ethical systems we claim to practice and subscribe to.Turner notes how deeply profound and personal, especially if you’re a parent, “The BFG” becomes when you read it (or watch Spielberg’s version) through this lens: And this is what I find so moving about The BFG: Dahl converts the personal (and infinite) loss of his own daughter into a loving gift he seeks to share with all children. He shared that gift with me when I was a child, when I never imagined that I would grow up to be an adult with a child of my own to whom I would read that gift again, in a new, strange, sad, dark, joyous way. Maybe all I am trying to say here, in this long, long-winded way, is Thank you.For this reason, and because “The BFG” is helmed by one of the greatest on-screen storytellers of our time, “The BFG” will not only entertain you to no end, it might even move you to “strange, sad, dark, joyous” tears. And I think Roald Dahl would have wanted it that way.For those disappointed on the first viewing I recommend you give it a second glance and you will discover another dimension
