Great navigational aid
The first thing I want to say after reading most of the negative reviews I've seen is that a GPS isn't designed to replace an atlas, available printed directions or your brain. It's a tool designed to be used in conjunction with these other resources. If it reports a particular route as being restricted to trucks that you know not to be, it will give you the option to accept responsibility and proceed anyway. If you're not sure, use one of the above mentioned resources and research your route. The routing information the GPS gives you is only as accurate as the information provided by the state DOT. If you have driven a truck for any length of time, you know how accurate (or not) some of that info can be.I've been a truck driver for a little over 32 years, off and on. I just recently started going "over the road" again after 12 years of local and regional driving and found that there are additional tools to make the job easier. I did a lot of research and settled on the Garmin Dezl 760.This is a very good GPS for my purposes. I drive for a company who's primary customer is a major manufacturer of golf cars. We deliver to country clubs, resorts, golf courses and dealerships all over the US. Some of these places are very exclusive and extremely remote. Most recently, I delivered a load of new golf cars to a resort community in Rociada, NM. You won't find that city in the 2014 Rand McNally motor carriers atlas. My Dezl 760LMT took me straight there, including about 3&1/2 miles of gravel roads, without a hitch. This unit is loaded with features, almost too many to mention. The free map updates and the live traffic info are great. The features no body really talks about:* The 7" screen with split screen mode and accurate pictorial representation of upcoming intersection lane requirements is fantastic.* Truck profile; You can program your truck weight, length & height and the unit will project your route accordingly. Obviously, this feature is most valuable for oversize loads. * Bluetooth phone connection; This feature satisfies the hands free requirement for all states, including the few that require no head sets as well. However, if your unit is mounted more than about 2 1/2 feet from your face, your party might have trouble hearing you so you might want to consider the optional external microphone.* Voice command; Program your destination and other features without having to use the keypad. Uses the bluetooth system so external mic might be useful.* Driver profile; (I don't use this feature.) This will keep up, electronically, with your log book. This units system is not accepted by DOT yet. My company still lets me use loose leaf paper logs and that's good enough for me.* Speed zones; .5 mi warning prior to a speed limit change.* Weight stations; .5 mi warning prior to a weight or cmv inspection station.* State lines or boarders; .5 mi warning to state lines* Construction zones; as much as 30 mi warning to construction delays. I don't pay for the optional traffic subscription so all I get are the state reported construction sites.* Traffic backups; as much as 30 mi or more warning of live traffic backups, including unreported construction delays.* Plus: Trucking search; including weigh stations, rest areas, truck stops (by name), parking areas, ect.I bought the "factory refurbished" unit on Amazon and saved over $100. It came with the factory new warranty and I couldn't tell it from new. This is a great unit and an extremely useful tool. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a large or commercial vehicle navigational system

My trucking buddy!
This thing is fantastic. It is easy to use, accurate, big enough to see, loud enough in a big noisy truck and the included suction cup mount is very reliable. It works with my Droid flawlessly, so hands free is just exactly that, hands-free. The usage is fairly intuitive, but count on spending some time learning how to navigate the many features. One feature I really like is the unit is aware of the roads that I should not drive on and routes me around them. If I have multiple stops I can put in a route and each place is a destination and them I can go on my way to the next destination. The was one little issue I had but I have learned to work around it. That is when traveling from Denver to Salt Lake, The unit always want to use I-80, and my Qualcomm instructions route me on I-70 and US 6. I just route myself through Glenwood Springs, and the routing matches what I need. All in all I really am happy to have purchased the unit and am pleased to have it in my truck. Garmin if you are reading this: please include a user guide, provide help software, or give me something that I can download. ( The provided link on your website does not work)

Good GPS, but could be better
My husband has been driving a semi for nearly 36 years and I decided it was time to upgrade his GPS to a larger easier to see screen. This is the 2nd unit I bought (new) following the 1st one (refurbished) that quit working for no reason after just 2 weeks. Sometimes it's hard to understand the female voice and she mispronounces words often. For some reason, Garmin decided only 1 voice to choose from on the new one, whereas the refurbished unit had a choice of at least 2. Fairly easy to use interface once you learn how. Does a pretty good job MOST of the time an address is entered into the search bar. When exiting off interstates to go to a truck stop (that's existed forever), almost always will try to turn you around back down the interstate in the direction you just came from or tell you to make a U turn (seriously Garmin?? a U turn in a truck?), all the while showing "truck accessablity unknown" even when in truck mode.. What's the deal with that? Sometimes it will just power down for no reason and restart again. Graphics are OK, but does not show a lot of label detail such as points of interest, secondary roads, rivers names etc compared with an older Garmin we had that I had bought off ebay in which the software had been modified for trucking. Will darken the screen at dusk so it is easier to see which is very helpful. Lane assist in busy interstate intersections is a great tool that Garmin incorporated into the Dezl that our other unit did not have. One feature we really like is that you can search for truck stops, repair shops, Walmarts, grocery stores, etc. in the general area of where you are located along your programed route giving you the approximate mileage to each. All in all, a pretty good GPS unit, but like other reviews have noted...I wouldn't rely completely on this GPS for accuracy as any truck driver knows a good back up Atlas is imperative. Any GPS unit is only as good as the software installed on it and this one still has a number of "bugs" to be worked out. Today, I downloaded an update so we'll see if any of the problems have been fixed (or made worse!)

Pretty damn good
A must have for my truck. Sometimes it takes a longer route but not by a long distance. I trust this GPS. It warns me of weigh stations 5 miles or so ahead of time, it warns me of low bridges that are customized to my truck height, and I use it to check my speed (lets me know if im speedng and is right on when the limit changes, even in construction zones). Live traffic is pretty accurate and it has not lost its signal in cloudy or rainy days which is the most important thing for me. It is the most expensive truck GPS right now and I have not used the rand or truckers tablet but I am satisfied with this and feel comfortable using it. It could always be better but its pretty good right now. This plus a smart phone as a backup and you will never be lost.

Great! The only concern is that it has to use my cell phone data to get traffic updates. This is not the situation with the car version.
