Great little sweeper! But not for all types of carpets.
This little sweeper isn't for all carpets. I recently took my kids swimming at their grandparent's house and while they were swimming I played with my macaw parrot which I brought along and she was making a mess all over their patio which has a short, outdoor type carpet. I felt guilty leaving all the nuts and grapes debris behind for my dad to clean so I grabbed their Oreck sweeper. I had been there many, many times before and had seen the little contraption and though what a piece of junk of a sweeper--it looks like something from the 60's. (I own 2 Dyson vacuum cleaners, a shop vac and a couple of floor steamers). Anyhow, I wanted something really quick so I wouldn't have to pull out their large shop vac (I did not want to hear that loud thing). I thought i'd give it a quick sweep over and then kneel down and pick up the rest with my hands, but to my amazement this so called piece of junk sweeper was picking up "everything", as if I had vacuumed. I got a little crazed with it and kept on sweeping their whole patio of the leaves, cat food and other debris. I was so impressed that I immediately went home and ordered one for my home. I have 5 parrots and a couple of kids and this is just the thing I need for those quick clean up jobs between regular vacuum days. When the package arrived my husband watched and thought ok, what did she order today? I was talking to him about it as I put the thing together and was boasting how it worked wonders at my parents house, etc. I saw him roll his eyes and as I started to sweep over the throw rug where the bird had been throwing her seed, he saw it pick up everything on the carpet and said "wow, order one for my parents". I didn't because they have carpet a bit longer that what I think this is intended for. It states, Restauranteur on top and restaurants don't have long ply carpet. So this is for short carpet and floors. I have not tried it on any wet items yet.Another reviewer sadly gave it only one star and was pushing some other product out there. It was their only review and I don't believe they actually used it or they used it on the wrong surface. May have been employed by a competitor. Whatever the case it's a handy little item and if you have the right surface and situations, then you may want to try it.My parents had the 9" and I purchased the 12". It feels sturdy and the handle I think came in 3 pieces was easy to assemble. (I was so excited putting it together I didn't pay attention.) Also, while I swept the handles never detached. The base--sweeper part is already intact, all you do is attach handle. I wanted to note that because I read other reviews for another brand of sweeper that was a big issue with the handle constantly detaching.

Works Pretty well
I bought the Oreck Floor Sweeper to use in my classroom, which is carpeted. There's a lot of foot traffic, and a million pieces of cereal, crumbs, and other things fall on the floor through the course of each day. The Sweeper works pretty well, and I don't have any big complaints, however it is not as "solid" as I had hoped for. It is basically made of hollow plastic, and it tends to be somewhat squeaky when I'm using to sweep. That said, it does a good job at picking up the crumbs. About 1/3 of the time I have to go over an area 2 or 3 times to completely capture all of the crumbs or cereal, but this is not a big deal to me. One really good thing about this model is that the handle will not break apart from the base with prolonged use, which seems to be a problem with several models that use soldering to bind the base to the handle. In my limited experience, those models break apart after a few weeks. Last thing, this model uses the plastic squeegee like blades to pick up crumbs, rather than brushes. I feel that brushes actually do a slightly better job at this, but like the description says, there are certainly fewer tangles with the blades. I hope this was helpful...Happy sweeper shopping!

Excellent for home and office use
My family has been using sweepers since I was young. It is more practical and durable than a vacuum cleaner for just sweeping the carpet or floor. I only use the vacuum cleaner once a month and just keep it in the closet most of the time.I have used several of these. I still have my red Bissell sweeper and silver dual Bissell sweeper. Those are great and have been using them for a long time. I went to a Golf Tournament in San Diego and I had dinner in the Clubhouse. It was raining so Golfers were walking into the restaurant with their dirty shoes and leaving dirt all over the floor. I saw the waitress pull out this Oreck Sweeper and she swept up most of the dirt very quickly and effectively. I took out my phone and ordered one from Amazon and it was waiting for me by the time I came home from the tournament 2 days later. This is my opinion on this sweeper.PROS:1. It does not use bristles to sweep the floor. They are soft manually rotating rubber or silicon blades that gently sweep the floor or carpet. It does not get clogged with gross hair unlike the Bissell that gets clogged with hair and is really disgusting to clean.2. It has a thick solid handle.3. The body is a light, solid plastic that can take punishment when bumping into furniture and walls.4. Its effectiveness does not diminish over time unlike the bristle type sweepers that have to be cleaned constantly to be effective.5. Very smooth rolling motion.CONS:1. The only downside is that it is double the price of the Bissell sweepers.SUMMARY:It is an industrial use sweeper and can be used in homes and businesses. Very highly recommended,

Oreck Restauranteur PR3200 just okay
Like I sense from most of the purchasers of this 'carpet sweeper,' I want to love it, but at the time, I feel it is left lacking. It does pick up basic crumbs from the low pile and hardwood that I have, but it pushes certain things along (a piece of cardboard that the dog had chewed) in front without actually picking it up. I still use it several times a day (because I bought it and will therefore use it). It does empty super easily. The dust cups do have a lot of stuff in them when I empty, so it is getting something! Also, it has this rubber fin brush type of thing that runs along the center of the unit, which makes it hard to pick anything up in front of that fin, like along the edge of a wall, for example. It has four brushes; one on either corner, that does get some of the doggy hair.

A great carpet cleaner
This is a nice light carpet sweeper. It works very well on carpet and OK on the bare floor. Easy to empty. I love it for quick clean ups, no dragging out the big vacuum cleaner.

Works great , but for shorter people ,
Works perfectly , takes every thing. But it's to short . If I was 4'8 wouldn't be a problem. I am 5'10 and I have hunch over when I am using it .

It does a great job of making things look less messy
I purchased this for a VERY busy fast food restaurant and there is HIGH traffic. It does a great job of making things look less messy. Not perfect but a great help.

Bad News!
Big Disappointment. It picked up very little crumbs, but no hair at all. Even all of the crumbs were not picked up. I thought it would be better since Oreck is a good name. Anyhow, I'll be sending mine back. :( It's pretty flimsy as well. I won't recommend this.

This is a great little toucher-upper
This is a great little toucher-upper. Removes lint, crumbs, other minor debris quickly and easily without requiring recharging or plugging in.
