Great Fan
After being roasted one time too many I finally decided to get a pedestal fan for my bed room.It soon arrived, fairly easy to put together, front half of cage was a bit fiddly to fit but got it after two goes. The manual is not that good, it does not really explain all the fans functions. However as a simple on/off fan it's great, 12 speeds go from the lightest of breezes up to a mini hurricane, and of course it turns from side to side if you want it to.The stand has a good telescopic range of height and the fan head it's self can be tilted up or down a fair bit.Coming with a remote means I don't have to get out of bed to adjust the speed or turn it on/off.It's a bit pricey, but with the extra speeds I think it's worth it.All in all it's great in hot weather!!!

Good power but awkward to use.
This fan was a re-order on one I have had for 2 years (it's that good) HOWEVER, this repeat order fan is a different design from the original version and has a different remote/operation. The new design fan is ok for some situations, except the speed of the fan goes from speed 2 straight too speed 4. So wanting to use it on speed 3 like i do (plenty of wind speed but not noisy) is not an option. In practice this means the noise on speed 2 goes from silent up to very noisy speed 4 straight away. Going from speed 2-3 or 4-3 makes no difference to the fan speed, so something inside isn't connected for speed 3 is my guess. Check the speeds out when you first get it is my advice, do they all work as they are set?The remote is very difficult to get the battery flap off, so be careful not to break it, you'll need a small screwdriver to open it, unless your nails are made from steel. The old version of the remote is far easier to use and understand, but works with the new fan ok, so swapping it over is possible (then throw the new one in the bin)On the whole i am dissappointed by this new fan. Someone decided different was better, but they made the wrong choices this time. They just made it more fussy to use by removing buttons off the remote and they obviously don't test the individual fans more than they think they should. It went together with little fuss (big deal) though you will need a small pozi screwdriver for the blade guard fixing screw and a bigger one for the fixing screw holding the motor head to the tube support shaft. If you want a fan that is silent on slow speed (1-2) this one works ok. If you want a fan that is easy to operate, then maybe this one is not the one you will like long term. It also creaks on side to side movement, but they all do. There are also no instructions on what the remote buttons actually do, so use the Force is my advice. I was going to give this fan 4 stars overall, but thinking about how frustrated i am with it (and it's hot weather and too fussy overall) 2 stars it is.I deffinately won't be buying another one like it, from the same manyfacturer.

Beware of the new model, it's inferior to the original
I bought the previous model on Amazon (the remote doesn't have a wheel for setting the speed) and I love it, but this one is something else.I bought this new model directly from Jack Stonehouse (as it was cheaper) and it's terrible: - Out of the 12 speeds only the 1 and 2 are silent, 3 is suddenly much noisier then 2 (The original model is silent up to 4-5) - The night breeze and day breeze modes only have a fix speed and noisy (the original one had 3 speeds for each) - The speed wheel on the new one is beeping on every change, but the old one was silent (sadly the remote makes it beep for both)Do not buy until they fix these issues.

My wife wanted... Sturdy, Quiet, Reliable, Versatile! So we bought this fan!
We bought one of these almost exactly a year ago and it's provided great service in our living room throughout some of the warmest weather we've had in my lifetime. (And I'm no spring chicken!)One big test was always going to be... does it keep my wife cool and unperturbed while watching TV without interfering with the sound? (She has ears that could hear a whisper in a vacuum and refuses to add a sound bar to our telly!)This fan passed with flying colours. Supplies coolth, quietly! And it stands solidly on our carpeted floor. The base is well-weighted and gives the whole thing a low centre of gravity. Solid.I have just, today, become the proud owner of two additional of the same. One for the conservatory to replace another model that had a flimsy 4-spar plastic base and broke after two years AND (wait for it...) one destined to replace a fan in the bedroom whose sound would keep my wife awake if it was left on overnight. So, on the strength of our experience of the one we bought in August 2019, we've bought another two of these! There are one or two (minor) design updates since we purchased the first one in August last year, although the designated model/ number hasn't changed.Others have mentioned the versatility of the available control settings. These remain the same in the updated version. However, the functionality of the speed control has been changed. The speed is now set (on both the remote AND the tower unit, should you use it) via a rotating bezel instead of via the stepwise pressing of the up and down arrow buttons of the earlier version.I'm not sure what the perceived advantage of this is, as it now requires more care to set the ungraduated/ unlabelled bezel (like the early Apple iPod controllers) to settle on the desired speed setting number (from 1-12). Setting the desired speed can be less accurately achieved than on the earlier version's remote speed control which altered up or down, incrementally, with each countable press of the button. On the new version, it's easy to overshoot or undershoot the required speed (over or under-rotate the bezel). Maybe when our fingers are calibrated, it'll become more instinctive and therefore, accurate. When we've used the new ones for a little while, I'll provide an updated opinion, based on more experience.
