the soup is really good BUT of six cans
the soup is really good BUT of six cans, 3 were dented which did not take away from the taste but made it hard to open with electric can opener. had to use a manual opener.

Great Buy!
My husband's 86 year old father set us with the task of finding him some turtle soup. When an 86 year old asks for something you make sure to find it! We assumed that since we live in Louisiana, where seafood is plentiful, this would be an easy task. We were very surprised when we could not find it anywhere locally. When I have trouble finding something I always turn to my reliable friend, Amazon.com, and tada it is found. I must admit that I was a little surprised that it seemed a bit pricey but after researching turtle soup I realized that it is priced right. I ordered the 6 pack and had it shipped directly to my father-in-law. He was overjoyed when his package arrived and tried it immediately. He was very pleased with the taste. I am sure I will be placing another order for this product sometime in the near future.

Abominable! Disappointing! Tommy Tortoise died in vain!
I have been a lover of turtle soup for almost 50 years. Among my favorites were Stegner's Genuine Turtle Soup (sadly, no longer made), and a memorable turtle soup made at Duckfoot's Landing, St. Mary's, Ohio in the '70s. This Bookbinder's Snapper Soup was truly horrid. The seasonings tasted like a chemical melange with too much cloves that left an aftertaste like I'd been sucking on a brass key. The bits of turtle meat were few and far between. The consistency was pasty, to boot. It is so sad that one cannot find a good turtle soup any more. I guess I'll try to scare up some Worthmore Mock Turtle Soup. It's the best substitute I've found.

Turtle Soup
This is real turtle soup that I've tryed in the past. It was not the best I had then and these cans definitely had an off flavor I did not enjoy.

Not Louisiana Snapper but quite good.
This a very good soup chock full of snapper meat and great flavor. I was use to more of a "Cajun" style and was a little "put-off" at first. It's a little "thick" so after thinning it with a little beef stock it was quite good.Would I buy it again? Probably.

Nostalgia's No Substitute for Flavor
Having grown up in Philly in the '50s and '60s, I spent many a happy mealtime at Bookbinder's. When my local market stopped carrying my beloved Dominique's Snapper Soup I decide to try Bookbinder's Old Original. I found it exceptionally bland, somewhat stringly, and lacking the rich base of Dominique's. I've asked to be notified when Dominique's returns to Amazon. Meanwhile. most the cans remain unopened -- perhaps waiting for when I become desperate!

Memory of Bookbinders Restaurant in Philadelphia.
The flavor was just as I remembered. It was for my son and he was not disappointed at all!"
