Sony BLTUHM1 Universal Head Mount for Action Cam (Black)

The design of this head mount is really good and eliminates the need for the VCT-TA1 angle mount that you have to use with older versions of the head mount. THere's only one problem that I have with this unit, it's strictly for use on a helmet. I do not own a helmet so I spent a lot of time trying to make this head band fit comfortably on my head and there is no way. The biggest problem is the flat stabilizer on the bottom of the bracket that attaches to the strap, it smashes your ear and if you put it behind your ear it's just as uncomfortable. I had an old sleeping pad so I cut a piece out of it and put it between my head and the bracket and that helped a lot but I had to have the strap so tight that my head started to thump. I bought this for hiking and wearing a helmet hiking might look a little funny :)

Everything you need to mount your Sony Action Cam to your dome. I have my currently setup on my google band with the included strap adapter and the 90 degree mount. I love this camera for being designed to setup on the side of your head, I hate the look of GoPro boxes on top of helmets. I didnt want to attach anything permanent to my sweet Smith helmet or interrupt the lines where the goggle bands work, so this kits was ideal. Looking forward to using the smaller strap to mount on my biking helmet when the snow melts. Bands are stable for most applications, only exception is I will not being surfing waves with this setup. I WILL use it when doing flatwater SUP paddling.

Solid, sturdy, and a little bulky, it stays on the head under a variety of physicially demanding situations. I've worn it over a hat and without a hat. It does the job well and will hold up under challenging circumstances. However, I wore it on a popular mountain trail this summer with many visitors and some complained I was illegally filming them. Yep, that's true! Others just gave me a strange look. I was even accused of photo bombing another individual who thought my filming interferred with his family's photo. Even though many people are filming and taking photos with smart phones and cameras, some people view these devices differently...as an intrusion.This is a solid product and well suited for its purpose.

Relatively speaking this head mount is better than others in the market. It gives essentially two ways to mount the camera: one way is to wrap the band around your head and the other is wrapping around your bike helmet. As a whole it's a bit bulky but sturdy. There's one design problem that I noticed: the "stabilizer". Its purpose is to support the camera by pressing the stabilizer against your face.There are two problems with this. First, is it's a bit uncomfortable to have it pressing against your face for a certain duration of time. Second this piece of plastic is snap-mounted on a flat foundation. It's fairly easy to snap on but to remove it you may have to break your finger nails! Sony has now hired a bunch of half-baked engineers to design this? The bottom line is unless you are high on Mountain Dew or Red Bull, this band is a waste of your money! This product is made in China. As to packaging and delivery, I am quite happy with Amazon's fulfillment aspect and customer service in general.

Sony BLT-UHM1 Universal Head Mount for Action Cam (Black)Purchased this to replace the older VCT-GM1. I am giving this 5 stars as it seems that Sony really listened to it's action cam customers and made it possible to tilt and pitch the Action Cam! You need to use the Sony Action Cam's clip bracket to mount the swivel to it. Sony used to package their devices in boxes, however the new packaging comes in a bag which is no big deal (this actually saves me space from storing boxes all over the place).I have a unboxing / unbagging video uploaded on youtube.com if anyone is interested in seeing that. TypeXDHWould recommend to any Sony Action Cam user!The older VCT-GM1 was not able to pitch or tilt without the help of the VCT-TA1, which only allow it to pitch up and down.

Like all things Sony ... Expensive. Great quality however, does NOT include something called an "Attachment Buckle". So, if you purchased your camera without the waterproof housing or, the "Attachment Buckle" already included, you are up the creek. You will not be able to use this accessory until you obtain one. Luckily for me, my camera came with the "attachment buckle".The should most definitely inform you of that in their description.If you want a headband mount you are going to have to cough up some big-bucks and purchase this one. I do not know of any "universal" type on the market.

Finally got this through the mail from Amazon. Glad I went for this model, as it has done more different positions other than it listed to do. I would highly recommend this to other Action camera's that either has the screw on or a GoPro adaptor with the screw on thread mount. There are other mounts in this package, one is for a head band or head band to a helmet mount. The second band is for a bicycle helmet with air slots in them and use the straps and locks in all kinds or different configuration for your action camera angles such as vertical adjustments or horizontal adjustments and yaw (or) panning setups. It has a larger wide band support than other makers in the market and can also be used for GoPro's camera's with the screw-on mount adaptor

I used this head mount with my Sony AS30V and it works great! My AS30V stays very tightly snug and well fit. You will have to use one of the parts that came with your Sony Action Cam with this Head Mount.Other action cam head mounts have the issue where they will not allow you to turn the camera vertically up or down or the headband is too cheap and flimsy. This head mount may be a bit pricier but it is MILES better than all other head mounts and is worth it for the price for this reason alone if you are looking to record footage from a head mount point of view.
