Elucence Volume Clarifying Shampoo, 10.1-Ounce

I have medium length, coily hair (4b/c) that is high porosity and color treated so my hair is easily dried out; thus I was really worried about using a clarifying shampoo. However, my scalp is oily and I need to make sure it is cleaned thoroughly so I need a clarifying shampoo. I decided to use this one because I am a huge fan of their moisture benefits shampoo. The first time I used this, it did dry my hair out very badly but my scalp was amazingly cleaned and less irritated so it was a win-lose situation. Next time I used it I decided to only wash my scalp letting the residual rinse off clean my hair instead of actually applying the shampoo directly to my hair and it helped with the dryness a lot. The next time I used it I did a hot oil treatment prior to shampooing along with the previous method and my hair no longer came out dry like the desert. So if you are having issues with this product drying out your hair but you need a super clean scalp, try doing a hot oil treatment prior to shampooing and do not scrub your hair with the shampoo. I gave this 4/5 stars because even after all my tweaks it is still a little drying, although not as bad, and it also does not have the slip I am use to with the moisture benefits shampoo.

LOVE this. If you're thrifty yet picky like me, break down your price per oz and really you're money ahead (I've researched and sampled hundreds of products over the last 20 years and found most "cheap" products don't do you any favors). As a curly girl with fine, very oily hair, I love that I can wash my hair once or twice a week and never have an itchy scalp, and my curls are very happy. As all of us with curls know, never scrimp on moisture. I follow with the moisture balancing conditioner as well as a deep conditioner at least every other week (more during winter as I live in MN). I feel everyone focuses on how hair styles after cleansing, but if you cleanse/condition right, styling shouldn't be an issue. It took me so long to find something I even wanted to try because I never found anything saying that a product did a good job at what it IS SUPPOSED TO DO. Everyone wants a cleanser that makes your hair easier to style. Cleanser is meant to clean your scalp/hair and make them happy, not to style your tresses. You have other great products for that. Stop overthinking your cleanse. Give it a shot, just don't over do it (because you know that's really our biggest problem) and you'll love it!

This product is extremely helpful for eliminating itching and dandruff. I'm currently only using it 1x a week (as most people do with clarifying shampoos to remove oil and buildup). I may or may not increase it to every 4 or 5 days but the immediate relief is great. Word of advice, don't add excess oil to your hair and scalp or any sort of powders like gotu kola, Cinnamon, whatever. If you use peppermint oil just add a few drops to your cowash.Direct contact with oils and other products is bad because you'll get too oily and itchy. It's best to add small amounts to things like conditioner or cowash.Using this + my normal conditioner (NYC Curls) left it soft and light. Just remember to not overdo it with products. It's really easy to overdo it. Oh, and avoid curling gels and creams, you'll save yourself from the terrible itching they tend to cause.

As a family we have been using this shampoo for many years. It is a wonderful clarifying shampoo. My husband had issues with his scalp breaking out and had tried many different shampoos over the years, since he started using this clarifying shampoo his breakouts have stopped. I just found out that Elucence is discontinuing some of their product line and this is one of them. We are so disappointed and not looking forward to starting another search for a new shampoo. I will also e-mail Elucence as well and voice our opinion.

For the record- I have very fine wavy/curly hair. I bought this shampoo to use as a clarifying shampoo once every few weeks or so to remove product buildup. I follow the Curly Girl Method, so my regular shampoo is sulfate-free, but to be a clarifying shampoo it really needs to have some sulfates. I was worried that this shampoo might irritate my scalp since I've been sensitive to sulfates in the past. Nope! Not only did it do a wonderful jab at clarifying, but it is a delightful shampoo in general. I've never seen a shampoo with so many wonderful and interesting ingredients (chemical exfolient, green tea, and sage- score!). Give this a try.

This is an awesome product. I have tried other highly recommended clarifyers such as the Malibu undo goo (which is still a great product) and this beats the ability to clarify without drying the hair. The only down for me was the scent- it smells awesome and like green apple but for some reason it irritates me (hot face + headache). I had the same thing happen with the green apple shampoo from Suave, and it smells exactly the same...so if you are curious about the fragrance try opening up a bottle of the suave green apple to test it out.

This is a true clarifying shampoo. I have been trying to get silicone buildup out of my hair after moving to non-silicone products (Deva-Curl line). This shampoo got it out and helped me start over. This isn't meant to be used every time you wash your hair. I finished with my deva curl conditioner and I have super bouncy, light, soft hair today... which I haven't seen in a long time! I'm so thrilled with it. Fantastic product!! I thought I had oily, dandruffy hair and have been using head and shoulders for years - since changing to this routine my dandruff is gone and my hair doesn't get oily - even going several days between washing. It is super thick, curly, and dense.

I love this shampoo for monthly clarifying.Pros: sulfate free, concentrated, non sensitizing on my infant level sensitive skin, so concentrated that a dollop the size of two peas creates a ferodcp creates enough lather for two washes, removes product buildup and refreshes scalp without drying hair, light pleasant fruity scent, good valueCons: I wish it had fewer man made chemicals.Bottom line: I recommend this shampoo for anyone who uses styling products or had oilyish hair. It had helped me get the Deva Curl products out of my hair so I can start over.
