Rocket and Lightship: Essays on Literature and Ideas Hardcover – November 17, 2014

This book made me want to write, to take part in the discourse, and to read everything ever written. Kirsch's series of essays are sequenced perfectly. The ideas bounce off each other and get bigger, better, more idiosyncratic, and more inspiring the longer the book goes on. If only all criticism could be this thought provoking, considerate and transcendent.

Very reflective and thought provoking. Kirsch has real depth and appreciation for the issues artists and writers face concerning the meaning of their work.

Excellent and insightful essays. Highly recommend this book
