X-10 PowerHorn 110 Decibel Security Siren PH508/PSH01

Ok, yes it works, yes it is quite loud, however: There is a 5 or so second delay when the alarm is tripped, it is not instant. While this is not a particularly big deal, it does make it a bit annoying if you do not know this going in when you are testing it. Placement: For whatever reason, the power horn does not work if it is placed more than ten or so feet away from the actual base alarm system. I do not know if this is because the base station uses RF to trip the power horn or if it is a signal being sent through the ground wire of your home electrical system. Being that the power horn unit has no ground pin, I would guess RF. I am using this in a large shop and when placed outside of the ten foot range, it does not work at all. The alarm tone is high frequency, which is in fact quite annoying and loud but looses any kind of power when heard outside of the structure or in another room. All in all, like most X10 products I have used, they work, (kind of) and are affordable.

I have two of these. They are very loud and, mercifully, have never "falsed" (on or off) as some X-10 equipment can. One is located in a detached garage relatively far from the alarm panel that signals it, and still works flawlessly. The one in the garage also is subjected to Canadian-winter temperatures with no sign of trouble.

It works. Not for outdoor, I have it mounted in my attic.

Nice and loud. Easy to setup. For some reason, if the alarm unit makes any noise like an acknowledgement beep this siren sounds. Very annoying.

Sound level fair for a plug in module but perhaps not obnoxious enough to really drive intruders out unless room is small.
