Philips PD700/37 7-Inch LCD Portable DVD Player, White (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

I purchased this after I had borrowed a portable DVD player from my sister and found I loved the convenience of it. I can sit on my bed and watch movies. Currently my regulr DVD player attached to my TV isn't working, so if I didn't have this, I would be out of luck! The screen is smaller than the one my sister has, but I could have gotten a larger screen if I had wanted to spend more money, so it's no fault of the player. I wish the sound could go a little bit louder; some movies/TV shows aren't really loud and the volume has to be turned up all the way. The picture itself is very clear. There is a choice of subtitles, which I use when sometimes I can't tell what somebody said (sometimes no matter how high the volume, you just can't understand something that was said). It doesn't seem to always save the place it was in when I turned it off, but that may be because sometimes I just turn it off without pressing "stop."Can't comment on the battery, as I have never used the machine without it being plugged in. I don't travel much, and haven't at all since this purchase, so have never needed to use the battery.I sometimes wish I had spent more money and gotten a multi-region machine, but I like this machine enough that I can't see spending the money now for another machine, since there aren't a lot of Region 2 movies I'd like to get.Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase. I've had it nearly a year now with no problems at all.

Love the Philips brand. It is a durable DVD player and stands up to my active autistic little boy. He loves it and takes it everywhere. It is a definate plus that the DVD player resumes right where you left off when you shut it off and then turn the power back on. Good quality and rugged!

I have had this dvd player for 2 weeks now and the picture is sharp, the sound is great, especially while riding in the car.It is light and no fuss, you just turn it on for the first time and it plays, the directions are so easy you don't even need to read the instrustions, perfect for anyone who is electronially challenged. It lasts around 2 hours after charging, I wish it would last longer but you can recharge in your car with a car charger until you get home. I do recommend this product for the price, I am not sure the higer end priced dvd players do any better.

The price was right, but when the DVD player was delivered we could never see anything but a white screen. You could hear the sound just fine, however, there was never a picture on the screen. Returned the product with the hopes of exchanging it for a new one, but they opted to refund the money instead. Disappointing because the price was very reasonable.

I purchased this player for my 3 year old. Its simple to use, holds a decent charge (2hours), and is small and lightweight. It worked great for us. I may be worried about the white with a young child but we'll see. Havent had it long enough for it to get dirty. Its mostly for traveling and is hung in a case on the seat anyways. A great buy for the price.

We bought our Philips portable DVD player after our last flight with our 2 year-old son, Hank. Our previous flight was a nightmare and I'm sure we were hated by everyone six isles in each direction. This last trip we set him up with his fave movie and never heard a peep out of him, except laughing. I highly recommend this plan to anyone traveling with tots.

No problems with this unit, really - It is a great unit. It was purchased for Retail store counter use to run continuous loop sales videos. Only problem is , even with the A/C Adapter plugged in- Like the description says - it provides 2 hours of continuous play - Our problem with it in store is, even with AC Adapter plugged in to run it (rather than battery) it still *ONLY* plays 2 hours and then "goes to sleep" and an employee has to restart it all over again -For travel or similar purposes, its fine, it works great and has been reliable, but if considering this unit for a retail store display for marketing and promotion purposes, It won't do the job.We've put it up for sale in an employee's yard sale, and instead purchased a Sylvania  Sylvania SDVD7015-Blue 7-Inch Portable DVD Player, Blue  which plays all day long and works perfectly for our needs.

This is the greatest DVD player I have ordered. Being on an off the grid system, it uses the least power of all similar items I have bought. It was very cheap and I think Philips is a very good brand.
