OtterBox Symmetry Series Hard Case for Google Pixel 2 XL Smartphone - Clear

This is not a light minimalist soft plastic case that feels like a loose penny loafer. It is tough to wiggle it into the case. And it is quite and tough and thick for a one piece clear case. The front is of softer and more opaque plastic than the back. The front edge projects out from the glass by about 1-2mm if you place a card across it and look at the gap. The specles on the back are nice. The buttons are a little harder to push than on the same clear otterbox model currently sold for the iphone 11 which my wife has, but it is totally useable. This is not a case you want if you are frequently changing cases. It does seem like a good compromise between a nothing case and a monster three peice OtterBox. The big fat Otterbox with a belt holster is still nice, though, if you hate broken phones.

I've had a problem finding a good case and screen protector combo for the Pixel 2 XL. People complained that the cases didn't rise above the screen to protect it, the case made the screen protector pop off, or just wouldn't fit, the cases didn't offer good drop protection, the screen protectors wouldn't stay stuck because of the curve of the Pixel screen edges, etc.. I believe that this case with the amFilm screen protector is the perfect combination. The case fits perfectly, rises above the screen for good protection, it's solid and offers more protection then the last one I purchased and had to return, allows me to easily use the Active Edge with no issues whatsoever, and allows the amFilm screen protector to fit perfectly. People are right that the buttons are a little harder to push, but I have no issues with that, and I'm sure they will loosen up over time. Either way, to protect my phone this way, I'll deal with that little issue.

I have had a few OtterBox Symmetry cases over the years and this is not a good one. Don't get me wrong, this case will definitely protect your phone if you drop it. The biggest complaint I have is that the buttons on the side are ridiculously difficult to press. I thought after a couple weeks or so they would soften up but no. 3 months later and you still have to use tremendous force!The other thing I noticed as soon as I got it was how difficult it is to get your phone in or out of it. It was a struggle to get in and the first time I tried getting my phone out of it I thought I was going to break my phone!The last major issue I have with this is that if you drop your phone with this case on, at all, from a very short height (say 2 to 3 feet) it will show cracks. Take a look at my pictures and you'll see the cracks on the top corners and along the bottom. I also noticed little cracks around the OtterBox logo on the side of the phone. I believe these are from having to squeeze the phone so hard just to press the power or volume buttons on the opposite side.Pros:Protects your phoneCons:Buttons are hard to pressDifficult to get in and out of the caseCracks showing from small dropsBottom line: I would not recommend this case to anyone. Which is sad because I've generally had good luck with the OtterBox Symmetry line. Maybe it is just the clear one that is bad and one of the other colors are better? This case is pretty amazing. Sturdy and comfortable. Doesn't add a ton of bulk to the phone.I took a star off though because as great as this case is, it is damn near impossible to take off and it feels like you're going to break the phone if you do. Though if you plan on this being your only case then it's not too bad I suppose.

As I placed this shell on my Pixel II XL I thought, great ill have to get another one soon. I was pleasantly surprised as I dropped my phone over and over. Time and time again my phone was totally protected. In this case, the brand name is with it. I recommend it.

Great protection! Not that I would expect less from OtterBox, but is pleasing to find consistent protection on their products.What I don't like at all is that it's extremely hard to remove. I don't remove it frequently, but every once in a while I want to clean the phone and it just takes forever just to get the phone out of the case.Also, another noteworthy aspect is that the rubber part of the case turns yellowish after a couple of months; I really don't mind, but it did happen.

The case itself is good. It's doable and will protect your phone. Downside? Stress cracks after 2 days off just being in my pocket, and bad yellowing/browning of the rubber part of the case after about a month (never been in an environment with smokers). Work the money? Sure, if you can get it for less than 20 bucks.
