Review: To me this book was like a gift - This book stood out to me as I have read so many "coachy" and "preachy" books on life improvement usually based on some upsell to a program or with some lead into a secret sauce or ancient methodology, but this one was so much more accessible. This book wasn't any of those things. To me this book was like a gift, sure you could read the book and implement each of the 400 ways in a very linear, structured way like a curriculum for better living. Go for it if that is your style! For me, this book was more like a box of chocolates and you could pick one act, or one chapter to implement, or even master, although I don't like the word master very much (seems like too much pressure). You could take this book to heart in so many ways, as journal prompts, classroom discussions, ways to interact with the family table at mealtime. In this book, the author offered up some delicious ways to improve your life and the world around you. The title could have been, titled How to be a More Connected Person, Happier Person, More Loving Person, or Healthier Person, any number of ways. Like chocolates, you can pick your favorites, sit down and eat them all, or share them with those around you. Whatever you do, I would buy the book, and get started. Review: Great quick compass to positivity and loving yourself - I haven't read this book cover to cover. It's a lovely small size to tuck in a convenient place. I like to whip it out, open to a random page and read an entry aloud to my family. It is always great fuel for thought, discussion, feeling good, and resetting another unhelpful belief. Love this! Great tool for staying on track mentally and emotionally. Like having a life coach in your pocket. I like printed books because there is no rabbit hole. This author also has a great health 'recipe' book of yoga poses and other home 'action' remedies for common stresses and situations called The Anywhere, Anytime Chill Guide that is also super helpful for our family. When I'm stressed out I can't always think of the best coping skill. These are great references. Thank you, Kate Hanley!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
I LOVE this book. Every day, I take one of the lessons to read and reflect on. I will journal about it, meditate on it, and then start my day. After two months, I can already see a shift in my energy and behavior. I don't cuss as much, I'm more patient, I speak more kindly and do not partake in negative talk of any kind. Once I figured out how to establish a morning practice with this book, it became a game changer. I highly recommend!

Better is about change not achievement
I preordered a copy of this book and was delighted when it arrived this week. Kate Hanley’s refreshing approach to setting a course for positive change is actually doable. I have read articles and books on the so called secret of happiness and none of them are as clear as this. I intentionally stopped on the first section - “Being better starts in your own mind”. The exercise I chose is to “retrain my brain to find the good stuff”. As a “verbal processor” I can’t tell you how many times I go to share the negative with a close friend. It’s natural - for me. It’s also keeping me on the same path. Kate’s guidance “to bust out of this neural rut, train yourself to acknowledge when things go right”... “share a recent win”! This book is just that. Brava Kate Hanley you have a winner.

Highly Recommend
Saw this initially on the Adams Media website and just knew I had to have it. This book has given me new ways to think about how to improve myself and how to look at the world around me. Not only do I use it as a daily way to boost my mood and give me the motivation I need, it also has helped me gain ideas for ways to encourage others.

About Improving Your Life
If the definition of being a better person is being kinder, and more compassionate, in addition to serving one’s community, making the world a better place by helping the ones who can’t help themselves and being a more spiritual person, the title of this book should be How to Improve your Life since most of the book has nothing to do with being a better person, according to the definition above, but it is about improving the quality of one’s life. Each chapter has paragraphs with cliché titles and vague concepts without descriptions of what they mean such as “See Novelty”, “Try on Maybe”, “Be Real”, “Accept the Bumps”, “Embrace The Paradox of Effortless Effort”, “Be Cool with the Itch”, “Rethink Insomnia”, “Start Your Day Right”, “Eat Your Fruits and Vegetables”, “Stop Keeping Score”, “Look for the Win-Win”, “Stay Curious When you’re Furious”, “Get Better at Digging Deep”, and etc. Most of the time we all know what to do, such as quitting smoking and exercising more, but knowing something and doing it are very different things. Unless a person can gain inside one’s behavior and what kind of the secondary gain s/he is having from the way one acts, the behavior doesn’t change and giving advice to someone what to do rarely works, especially superficial ones that scratch the surface. Reading this book is much fun as listening to someone sitting you down and giving you advice about what to do. Two and a half stars.

Sehr empfehlenswert!
... Empfehlenswert!

Don't waste your money.
Boring and obvious. It feels like someone googled motivation phrases and did this book.
