Great 3D Blu-Ray player but only a so,so remote
I checked the reviews on this player on the web and now that I have it I agree it was a great purchase on Amazon($274). I couldn't find the great $199 price that some people found at BB. Everything works great except for the remote which is why it did not get 5 stars. As noted on the web reviews the remote needs to be pointed directly at the play or it is not recognized. Our DVDs look almost as good as Blu-Rays do on my Panasonic plain Blu-Ray player. But, the Blu-Rays on this player are really good. This player is so good that when I use the 2D to 3D conversion feature on my plasma TV I'm always blown away. Don't get me wrong, a true 3D Blu-Ray looks better but the upconversion on a really good plain Blu-Ray movie such as Avatar will have you shaking your head!I've not tried playing SACD or DVD Audio yet.Update - This model (BDP-63FD) does not have analog RCA outputs so the only to way to use its internal DAC circuits is via the HDMI output ports. It also has a digital output RCA port for connection to your external DAC. The previous model (BDP-53FD) does have analog output ports but only a digital TOSLINK (optical) port. I check the web and the advantage of digital optical cable is that it is not affected by close proximity to other cables which can affect the sound of digital RCA (SPDIF). I found conflicting views but the consensus seems to be that the digital RCA (SPDIF) cables sound better.I was able to get my hands on a 53FD player to test the quality of the sound of its internal DAC using the analog RCA outputs for cd play back. I don't claim to have golden ears but at moderate volume levels I thought its sound was smooth in the treble and had more punch than I thought possible for a player at it's low price. The bass guitar on the Angus & Julia Stone album Down the Way was even better than I remembered. I ended up listening to the entire album twice because the bass and vocals were so good.Plus the video was just as good as the current 63FD and both do cd/SACD/Blu-ray and 3D.The BDP-53FD is hard to find and can run as high as $700 to $800 USD! Very high considering the Pioneer MSRP is/was $399 so I guess I was late to the party. I got a refurbished one at the Pioneer web site for a very good price but only a 90 day warranty.

Works for me.
With some reluctance I bought the BDP-62 mainly as an aesthetic match to my SC-27 Elite receiver, albeit some negative reviews. Sitting next to my Oppo 93 I think it is a better looking unit, operationally not quite the equal but very close. Not so much Blu ray performance but standard DVD performance is most noticeable. No real issues with the player which has played all discs so far without issues. Have not updated firmware and as long as the player continues to perform correctly I have no intentions of doing so. Real complaint is with the remote which is slow at times to respond to commands. I don't do streaming, so as a stand alone player I am thus far pleased.

I'm very satisfied. Excellent bluray player.
My Pioneer BDP-05FD conked out. A salesman at the electronics store recommended an OPPO to replace it. I decided to research further and read a review comparing the BDP-62FD to the OPPO. Based on thiystems I opted for the 62FD instead for much cheaper. For my purposes, the 62FD is perfect. It is a great bluray player. I'm very happy with my decision and the 62FDIt was very simple to connect to my system including the universal remote. It did not need reprogramming.I'm also very happy with Amazon. The unit arrived on time and in good condition.

I bought the 62FD model to replace my older 23FD model. It arrived very quickly after I ordered it. Thought it was a good price for what I was able to find online. My older 23FD was a heavier BD player and the remote was a heavier more deluxe remote compared to new player remote. I have an 23TXH Elite receiver that I really like that matches the BD player. The new 62FD player seems to run really quiet and loads disks very quickly compared to my old 23FD player. I guess I'm satisfied with the 62FD performance but was expecting better quality in the product. When I took it out of box, I was really surprised with how light it was compared to my old one. The remote to my older 23FD player had buttons that would glow and was made better. The new 62FD remote was very light and seemed to be very cheaply made. Also didn't have the deluxe buttons that glowed like the older one I had. I was kinda nervous about it being a knock off model with pioneers name on it. Checked the tags and everything on back to compare to my older 23FD. Seems to be the real deal but I guess I expected a better quality made product for the money. I guess I might be a Pioneer snob but really like the performance of the Elite line since I've had them for years now.

A nice looking heavy duty player
Looks great and performs well on blu ray discs. Stands out in my theater room above the amp, and is a nice NORMAL size, unlike the new players on the market going for that space age look. My only issue is that I do not feel the upconversion is as good as my older Sony bluray, but do love the look and feel of the menu system and performance and much faster load times for menus, and internet items.

Pioneer Elite Blue Ray
I purchased this product because I already owned a Pioneer Elite Reciever. I wanted to get this unit because both it, and the receiver had "state of the art" software able to decode the newest blue ray disc's. I was not disapointed, even playing an older DVD this blue ray player "steps it up" and the sound,,, OUTSTANDING. Easy to set up, yet, with countless options when you mate this blue ray with a Elite reciever.

superb picture and sound of video/audiophile quality
This unit meets all my requirements for excellent picture and sound quality. I wish this unit had better access to video streaming via built in Wi-Fi and more choices. I would have rated this unit 5 stars if it had these features. This is a superb unit for movie watching and listening to good music.

I knew the quality was going to be good. I was not sure of the Oppo as ...
Opted for this instead of spending $500 on the Oppo player. Having had previous Pioneer Elite players, I knew the quality was going to be good. I was not sure of the Oppo as am not familiar with the company. In the Professional setting, hands down beats my Panasonic 3D Blu-Ray Player. This player loses a star for not having onboard wireless and taking a bit of playing with to get to the optimal viewing setting. Otherwise, a nice purchase for under $400
