It works well but is noisy
Long story short: this humidifier works well for a 400 sqft room, and still suitable for a 800 sqft condo. Its tank fits enough water to run for about 24h at max power. It does not require lots of maintenance (if you use Brita-filtered water and do not pay too much attention to the user manual). On a downside it is noisy: even when running at minimum power you will hear the fan spinning, it is the same kind of noise a laptop fan makes. Read on if you want the complete review.POWERThis humidifier can vaporize 1.5 gallons of water in 24 hr. From my experience this is enough to keep a normal room (around 300 sqft) as wet as you want. My bedroom is about that size, in winter is pretty dry here and it would reach 30% humidity. With this humidifier running, if I keep the door closed I can reach easily an optimal 50-55% humidity. If I leave the door open, the humidity distributes in the whole apartment (about 700 sqft), and it cannot get higher than 40-45%.NOISINESSThis unit it not so loud to be annoying during the day, but too noisy to keep it running in my bedroom during the night. It has a small fan that run always at the same speed, no matter if you set the unit to min, med or max power. This small fan makes the same noise of a notebook fan, to give you an idea. This was quite a disappointment for me, and it the reason for only 3 stars. Reading the description and the other reviews I thought this unit was very quiet, and I chose it because I wanted something I could keep running during the night. Well that is not the case, if I also want to sleep ... At the end of the day this was not a complete deal breaker. Before I go to sleep I keep the unit running for a couple of hours at max power with the door shut so that the bedroom reaches 50% humidity, and after a night of sleep (with the humidifier shut off) it is still at 40%, enough for me.MAINTEINANCEThe 1.5 gal tank is enough to keep the unit running at max power for 24h (48h at min power), so, worst case scenario, you will have to fill it up once a day. In my case, I find the tank empty every 2-3 days. This is a ultrasonic humidifier, so you can use tap water and it will leave no residues in the humidifier, also no need to change a filter regularly. On the downside, after some use, you will find some white dust over your floor and furniture. The more hard is your water, the more dust you will see. I use Brita-filtered water, and I still have a bit of white dust, but I really have to look carefully to notice it. Results may vary if you have harder water or black furniture. If you read the manual, it prescribes lots of maintenance. In their mind you should lose half an hour everyday for a brief cleaning and a couple of hours every week for a thorough cleaning. I have this unit since 2 months and never done anything of the prescribed maintenance. So far so good. I think I will just do a thorough cleaning at the end of the season. Keep in mind that I am using Brita-filtered water though.DESIGNI like the design of this unit. A part from the tank, it seems pretty functional. It direct vapor high enough to not having problem of water condensation on the floor near the unit. You have some condensation on the upper part of the unit though, but it is designed well enough to collect it so that it does not leak to the ground. The water tank is pretty high, so you wont be able to fill it under a small tap. No big deal for me, since I pour water from a Brita pitcher. It also has a strange base, so it cannot stand vertical. You will have to lean it on something while you pour water inside.ACCESSORIES AND SETTINGSYou can set three level of power. The vapor output change, but the fan noise will remain the same. The unit has a display that shows the time and the humidity of the room. The display can be switched off.The readings are very consistent and quite accurate. Consider that the measurement is made near the unit so, in my experience, it is about 5% higher than in the rest of the room. You can set a target humidity (between 40 and 60%) and the unit will automatically stop when it is reached. You can set a timer so that the unit will shut off after a specific amount of time (1 to 24h).When the tank is empty the unit switch off automatically.

Very quiet and effective
Definitley use distilled water or the mineral content of tap water will leave a fine white dust on wood surfaces in particular. Beyond that, this is the best humidifier I have ever found. Quiet- very!, good adjustable output, easy to use, effective in a very large room. And - if you use distilled water - I found it never needs cleaning over the entire winter. Great product!

Customer service replaced our leaky unit
I purchased this at the beginning of winter because we have forced hot air. Our humidity in the bedroom overnight is down in the teens. Making for a very dry skin. We purchased this unit and set it up, it immediately started leaking. We tried troubleshooting it using the manual, filled it exclusively with cold water, cleaned out the unit on a regular basis, put it on a flat surface instead of the rug, so we bought a shoe tray and put it in there. It's still leaked. Everywhere. It wouldn't leak immediately, and we would think that it had been figured out. But a day or two would go by before it would leak again, spilling a gallon or two all over the carpet in the bedroom. Have you ever woken up first thing in the morning and put your feet on wet high pile carpet? I don't recommend it. Not a great start to the day. We finally contacted the manufacture to take them up on their one-year warranty as it was out of warranty through Amazon. They suggested that we troubleshoot it and after that didn't work the manufacturer sent us back a prepaid label to mail the old one back and send us a new one on the slow boat from China. I file this claim around New Year's and it finally just arrived this week, it's March. I haven't set up the new unit yet but I thought I would give the review anyway considering that their customer service although slow to deliver gave a resolution that I'm happy with.

Great Humidifier
I purchased one of these years ago and am still using it, so was excited when I found this on Amazon. The Bionaire tower humidifier is easy to use and to clean. The tank holds more water; and it is quiet. You can adjust the humidity level; and the humidifier cuts on and off automatically to keep the level you set. A lighted screen displays the humidity level in the room. No filter required. I clean my humidifier with white vinegar twice a week.

Running for 3 years
We have 3 of these. 2 we purchased at a local store about 3 years ago and one of them is just now starting to make noise so we purchased a new one to replace it. The are very sensative to being level. If you find it saying it has low water when it is full you likely need to tuck something under it to make it level. Other than that we have had no issues with them in 3 years. I was very lazy about cleaning them this year and i assume that is why it is probably getting loud. We have very hard water here.

Seems like a good humifiier but tank Light issue and rather finicky working
Bought new from Amazon, Pro's : Looks good, relatively quiet with a decent sized tank. The lcd display monitors humidity and has various timing settings. The Cons : Like some other reviewers I experienced the "tank empty" issue. The tank is full and connected, yet after every hour or so of running, the "Tank Empty" light shows up and the humidifier stops. After various trial and error things I noticed that the sensor for the tank in the bottom is rather sensitive. When the light was on I just gently tilted the humidifier a bit and it came on - huh ? wth. Cant keep doing this all night. Also the motor is rather finicky - sometimes it runs rather quietly and sometimes it makes a noise.Anyway, bottom line is that while it has everything I would need and expect, it doesn't really work as expected from a brand new unit.
