Gemini FBA_CDMP1400 Single Space Rackmount CD Player

Have been using the unit for about one week so I can't make any claims about the durability yet. The unit is solidly built and has a lot of good features. I'm pleased with the way it reads USB Memory sticks, USB hard drives and USB DVD drives. They all work good and search times were not excessive. Pitch control works with USB drives as well as the CD. Slot loading CD Drive is an advantage (no tray to jam) if it is durable. I like having the microphone input in both the front and rear (TRS\XLR). Output sound quality is good and clean. Front volume control provides good range. There is plenty of preamp gain on the mic to use a standard dynamic mic (Shure SM58). Having balanced XLR outputs it important if your hooking into a pro sound system.This is a good unit for applications where you a playing through a set of songs. With the remote control, this is a good unit for playing music in a salon, restaurant, karaoke, or accompaniment tracks in church . May not be best for fast switching between tracks and disks like a DJ does. It just takes a little while to read the disk and jump tracks. The manual is poorly written but it is not hard to figure out if you have worked with other players. Responses from the remote control seem a little slow. I love sound equipment that is perfectly silent. The unit is not totally silent, it makes about as much noise as a good home theater DVD player where you can just hear the drive rev up.

I really needed a 1U cd player for my rack, and like most did not want to pay the high price. Bought this unit and it looks and works fine, but a few could be better....1. Takes a while to load and read a CD (around 10 secs), might be a bug for DJ'n.2. Can't search USB tracks while playng a CD track.3. Pitch knob works backwards, manual says turning clockwise increases pitch, but in reality it decreases.4. Manual is hard to follow.I rarely use CD's anymore so it was a decent purchase for the price. I would actually give this item three and a half stars.

The player and its remote control lock constantly. The pitch is varying by itself intermittently. Unfortunately I threw away 300 bucks.

Unit works great. Clean output and great simple features. Rack isnt deep, very helpful for limited space area. Very professional.

Works as advertised. CD is fine, of course. Loaded up a bunch of WAVE files on a 8 gig USB stick, the CDMP-1400 recognized and was able to play all files flawlessly. Sounded good. Single rack space, important in Prosound, we take less gear to each show. I will be buying more of these.

Not worth the money. So poorly designed, had lot of problems with it. I knew gemini is only affordable but the reliability of this product is far, far from what you'd expect. It happened that I am electronics engineer and I've seen and repaired many professional equipments, and because it was out of warranty, I decided to try to fix it. First the display didn't want to light on, fixed (bad connector), then some functions did not worked normally or at all, fixed for a while (bad ribbon and connector to front pannel) , and many others...But with this "pro" equipment I am just tired to fix something everytime. Going to garbage, never again Gemini. I can't believe how a company would spend money for development and production for such a junk. So poorly designed, manufactured, even if is made in China, is not acceptable.

I purchased this Product on 11-24-09. Right off the bat the CD player did not work. Gemini likes to do all their own service work. I had decided that I did not want this unit if it is going to have problems. After a long two month back and forth with Gemini. Gemini would not give myself or the company that I purchased the unit from a credit. Stating that they did not know if the consumer did the damage. I did not use this CDMP-1400. It is in the same condition that I received it in. I even asked Gemini if I could return it to them so they could examine it to make sure that I had not abused it. They still would not let me. I would not recommend buying any Gemini product. This company can not stand behind their products, they are only out to get your money. Two thumbs down.

I bought 4 of these- after first week of use, one developed a loud hum in the audio outputs, one won't recognize a disc, and none of them will read the USB stick reliably. Gemini tech support took 45 minutes to answer and could not help. Please don't make the same mistake I made.
