Polk Audio FXI A4 Surround Speakers (Pair, Black)

I did a lot of research and paired these up in a 5.1 and lemme tell you....for $225 these are crazy LOUD and CLEAR! I’m more than impressed. It was between these and the S20s. Car guys will tell you, “there is no replacement for displacement”. I tend to believe the same for home audio speakers. The bigger the better. You really can’t go wrong with Polk.I’m a dad so I need to be able to make my $$$ stretchy and be worthwhile. The build quality is exactly what I expect from Polk and I think other Dads, or people on a budget will appreciate the quality.Cons: the box didn’t come with enough mounting hardware.

I guess I didn't know what I was missing until I installed the Polk speakers. The sound is top shelf! I use them as surround speakers and they are set to dipole. The challenge now is to get a receiver that can push these speakers to operate optimally in your environment. I had to return a Denon 105 watt per channel receiver because the amp could not push the Polk's, nor the Bang and Olufson fronts. The amp would heat up and shut down at 60% volume. Once moving to a stronger amp, now I can hear these speakers the way the manufacture intended. Movies and music sound exponentially better than what I had. No need to even mention what the Polk's replaced.Your movie watching/listening experience will be greatly improved with a pair of Polk.surrounds. Money well spent for these speakers. I have them mounted on the side walls of a dedicated home theater room. They are about 2 feet above the listeners head. Installation was easy and straight forward.

I tested these against 2 Klipsch and a Fluance set. The Klipsch sounded weak and bottomed out way too easily. The fluance was close but way too boomy for my flavor. These Polks were very neutral and took everything I threw at them. I now have them as my rear surrounds in a 5.1.2 setup and could not be happier with how they sound. I will say the plastic trim on the speakers looks and feels cheap but again, for the cost, who cares. The grills are on and nobody sees that. You will not regret this purchase!

These Polk speakers are definitely worth the price in quality and sound. They produce a clear and impressive vocal and bass reproduction without too much bass. I purchased four as my surrounds to compliment my other Polk speakers in an 11.1 theater system. They replaced my beloved much cheaper Logitech THX surround system that I was happy with for years. I truly enjoy the bi-pole option that definitely creates a more than realistic surround experience. I initially hesitated due to the almost $700 price tag for four, but every time a blu ray movie is watched it reminds me of what I paid for as I'm smiling. Polk has impressed me and that's why my entire speaker system, piece by piece was purchased from them. Excellent quality at a moderate price!

An interesting idea to surrounds. This completes my replacements of my Yamaha 5.1 speakers going to all Polk (bare with me the model names)- front tower speakers - 4 6 1/2s, tweeter, center has two 5 1/4 and tweeter and 12 inch subwoofer.The previous Yamaha surround was on mounted stands. After looking at these seeing how heavy they were going to be no way was i going to try and mount these on these stands. I was also not interested in putting them in my drywall. So what i did was buy some heavy duty monitor stands. They are not the prettiest nor can you hide the wire but so what. I have them highest possible and love the sound from the height. I think this about the sound - very loud!. The microphone settings to my Yamaha placed the volume way down compared to my tiny 3 inch Yamaha bookshelves.Now to the design. I strongly suggest the dipole setting vs bipole. Otherwise i think your wasting your money. You will truly get an amazing sound changing the phase. My gripe for the money...there should be another 5 1/4 speaker on the other side and either put the little port in the middle or not at all. I think the port isn't necessary. Movies and music sound incredible, and proves a surround speaker is not just a surround. The obstacles as I mentioned is the size and mounting. Otherwise you are seriously getting a diverse, awesome surround sound

I needed a pair of surround speakers for my home theater system and am glad I found these! Acoustically - the sound is deep and rich nicely covering highs and lows. Has mounting brackets in the rear along with a switch for bi / di pole. Covers come off for cleaning if needed. These are very attractive and solidly built. In fact, I was so pleased with Polk that I swapped out my old Paradigm subwoofer for Polk and wow....what a difference. The house shakes during movie scenes. OK - so my wife is not so happy about that but having a movie theater experience in the home is great!

fantastic surround speakers great with 7.1 setup.. Fantastic for listening to music as well if you use your sound system for not only television and movies but for Music and Sound you definitely need these surround speakers while they last..

I have many branded speakers at home for home theatre. BUT this one is the BEST one for surround sound effect, as the sound comes but mind cannot tell the exact direction... which makes it perfect and truly the “surround” effect.

Superb speakers! Great depth and they really fills out the rear soundstage in my 5.1.2 AV set up.Experiment with the dipole./ bipole switch for desired soundstage.
